Our family stayed at the FANTASTIC CopperLine Lodge last night as we were passing through off I-80. We had been on the road for days with a 9 month old and our dog in the middle of a major move and needed a place to lay our heads. Hotel reviews in the Rawlings area were frankly terrible so we thankfully extended our search and have never been so unexpectedly happy to have explored off the beaten path. When I found CopperLine on Google, I knew it was the place to stay. Dan and his crew blew our socks off!
Arriving late at night was like being welcomed in by extended family. The lodge was warm, the rooms were clean and ready. And that charmingly rustic feel with a table already set for breakfast, made us feel right at home. The next morning as we were getting ready, we started to hear the quiet picking of a guitar downstairs with the smell of coffee and a homemade breakfast slowly rising up to our room. When we went downstairs, Dan was already fostering a community style meal that made us feel like we were reunited with kindred spirited travelers after years apart. From the meaningful conversations to the hearty homemade breakfast, it wasn’t just our stomachs that were full, but also our souls. As we watched our baby girl crawl across the den with everyone cheering her on, we realized this was the reset we needed; it felt like home.
This lodge is not only aesthetically gorgeous but the community fostered here with fellow travelers communing over the family-style morning breakfast will be a memory for us to share for years to come. I literally had tears well up in my eyes when I saw the beautiful breakfast smorgasbord provided for us included with the cost of the stay.
The rooms are quiet, comfy, clean and charmingly rustic. It honestly felt like staying with extended family, with a very homey vibe. The community however is not overbearing, if we had wanted to maintain our space I’m sure that would have been respected just the same. That being said, we shared meaningful conversations.
We will be recommending this lodge and be planning a family vacation to spend more time exploring beautiful Saratoga, WY. Thank you Dan & Crew for welcoming us in for a late and short but well worth it stay that we’ll remember forever.
PS: My husband is already breaking in...
Read moreEach of the accomodations here seem to have their own flavor so can't speak to all the lodging options , but we stayed in the owner's suite. The bed was warm and spacious, the room felt like a perfect cozy little nook. Though some of the space was pretty basic accomodations ( the bathroom is nothing fancy) we appreciated them offering us a dog blanket so our dog could join us in the room and the wifi worked great when I had a last minute presentation to do at 6am. Please note though the owner's suite is in the main lodge, and we have been in old fashioned lodges before and knew it comes with sounds and creaks from others foodsteps. We could hear guests upstairs walking so if you need absolute quiet, I suppose the outside cabins would work better for you. CopperLine Lodge really excells though at the little things. The lounge area has a great collection of books and other items related to the area. The owner was able to accomodate us even though we got in later than we wanted to. ( I felt bad he was in his PJs to check us in but still was friendly and took care of us.) The lodge also offers complimentary warm bathrobes to use at the free hot springs in town which came in handy as it was only 20 degrees out when we went to take a dip. We had access to the kitchen to store our leftovers which added to the convenience. The lodge is also easy walking distance from the lodge to the Main Street of town yet being on the edge of town we had great views of the stars at night. And the homemade breakfast and strong pot of coffee the next morning was one of the best meals I ever had at any lodge or hotel! Served communal style around a family table (which made me a little weary in the age of covid but was quickly reminded of the fun of meeting other travelers on the road) the offerings included fresh fruit, homemade muffins, and the best breakfast pizza I ever had. Everything was made from scratch and it was great to break bread with the owner and other travelers. We hope to return here...
Read moreThis is our 3rd visit to Copperline Lodge and we look forward to returning again and again. The rooms are clean and beds are comfy. The Lodge is located on a quiet street blocks away from the downtown area. ||Our favorite thing about staying here is breakfast! A beautiful large wood table is located next to the kitchen, adjacent to the check-in room. The kitchen counters and island are laden with an array of wonderful breakfast items (the breakfast pizza was delicious), fruit, cereal, waffles, casseroles, little “taste before you commit” and large muffins. The coffee pot is always full, the best part … the people that sit around the table. It is sometimes hard to leave on-time for an activity, the listening and participating in conversations is so engaging - Dan does a great job of picking topics. HUGE Thanks to Nancy for stopping by the table … it was nice to tell you in person how yummy your food is and to thank you for decorating the welcoming area and the cabins with your beautiful handmade quilts.||This is the first visit that we were not greeted by the doe who hangs around the property. Dan shared that as she had a set of twins. Disappointed that we missed them but were pleased to see the photos ….||We did have a small issue however it was immediately resolved. We appreciated that Dan and Jen were so responsive. Guests are a priority and service is outstanding.||Tips: |Eat at the Grumpy Italian, great calzones. Service is outstanding, but be prepared to wait as everything is homemade. Games and cards are placed on the table, no liquor license but you are able to bring in your own wine. Go potty before arriving, no bathroom on the premises.|Take advantage of the healing waters of the Hobo Hot Springs.|Go to Encampment - wonderful museum and a double...
