I have been to The Grumpy Italian a few times throughout my life so far and I have to say it is one of my favorite places. The restaurant is run by Steve and his wife. Together, they make a dream team that no other restaurant could compare to. The food is made freshly by Steve while his wife acts as the hostess and waitress.
For the food you order, you will get much more than you expect. When I went there last, for example, I ordered one of their sandwiches expecting something small enough that you would eat like a normal sandwich. Instead, I got what essentially felt like cheese bread topped with a bunch of different meats, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and dressing (essentially a salad on top of bread). Of course due to its size, I was unable to eat it like a normal sandwich, but I'm not complaining because it was absolutely delicious and made me take my time in this fast paced world. For dessert, I ended up ordering the cannoli which was better than any cannoli I had anywhere else.
It's places like these that make me want to move out of the big city to a smaller town like Saratoga where you won't find your typical chain restaurants. Overall, good eats, good people, and a good atmosphere. You won't find a place like this...
Read moreCame for lunch on Saturday, August 2nd while on a day trip from Laramie. When researching places to go, we saw this place had great reviews and decided to check it out.
The games and the signs around us that said “If you don’t have time to wait for a home cooked meal, this is not the place for you.” implied that the wait would be much longer than it actually was. Our wait was very reasonable especially for a home cooked meal.
Let me tell you, folks... I’ve been to Italy, I’ve been to NYC, and this is still some of the best Italian food I’ve had in my life. The portions are massive and the food is delicious. You can tell the gentleman cooking truly puts his heart and soul into his craft. Between cooking for each table he came out and had conversations with the people at tables. The waitress was also attentive, friendly, and funny.
The atmosphere was great, too. It’s the kind of place that you can sit and chat with the people at your table and others. They sell t-shirts that have some of the funniest slogans on them.
Highly, highly recommend this place if you’re in the area. Sit down, slow down, and get yourself some...
Read moreMe and my family are from Arkansas and let me just say...this place was AMAZING!!! We walked in and there was a women playing the accordion. Family owned and they make ALL of their food homemade so I would recommend either going for lunch or early dinner or ordering ahead of time, because they will run out of food. Cutest staff EVER the chef is a real nice guy who came out and talked with everyone and our waitress was just amazing, she was apologetic if they didn’t have the dish we wanted and was VERY patient with us. Their wall was FILLED with pictures of all their customers, it’s a small little place too. Now let me get to their food... DELICIOUS!!! That all’s I have to say it was well made and just SO good!! Overall if you are looking for somewhere to eat in Saratoga The Grumpy Italian is a MUST!!! I will definitely go back if I’m ever...
