My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the Printmaker's inn. We stayed for 2 nights in March. The owner, Pete, is very kind, helpful, and generous. He truly went above and beyond to make sure that we felt at home and that our stay was comfortable and stress-free. I have a lot of great things to share, so I simply listed them below: Check in was easy and simple. I recommend to go through the back entrance. Parking was just behind the property, and there were more than enough parking spots during our stay. We stayed in the High Cotton Suite and I personally was in awe of just how spacious it was. We went up a set of stairs which led us to a private wing on the second floor -- complete with our own private hallway, living room, enclosed balcony, bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom. None of the areas are shared with other guests (which was awesome for us). The suite was very well decorated. Very cozy and inviting. The stairs were not a problem for us. With just a bit of teamwork, we were able to carry up 2 small and 1 big luggage The location is a few blocks from Forsyth Park, and is very walkable (we walked everywhere!!). There is even a free public bus that can take you out on a certain route and distance. Plus, Savannah is such a charming city full of beautiful parks, historical sites, and unique architecture. Walking from the inn to the other main attractions in the city is a great way to experience all of this. We felt completely safe walking in the area, even late at night. The area is very quiet. The suite was clean. The bed was soft and comfortable. There were water bottles in the fridge and coffee + condiments in the kitchen. The hot water was consistently hot, and the water pressure was good. It was chilly during our visit, so this was very much appreciated. Pete was very friendly and responsive over email and text. We felt supported throughout our stay. We will definitely stay here again next time we are in Savannah, and we have already started to recommend this wonderful inn to family and friends.
We are so thankful to have experienced a piece of Savannah's history by staying at the...
Read moreThis was our second time in the Printmaker's Inn after a number of years and we were very disappointed.
First, on the plus side, the hotel is only a couple of blocks from Forsythe Park, and you get a lot of space. But there are a number of issues we had:
One is that Printmaker's borders a not-so-great part of the city. As the owner points out elsewhere, there's not much they can do about this and I definitely wouldn't leave a negative review if the hotel was otherwise in good shape. Unfortunately there are major problems in the suite itself.
First, the broken refrigerator. Pictures of the Nichols Suite on the site still show a large, nice refrigerator. It was in the kitchen plugged in but hot inside (the temp gauge said 83) and clearly broken. Food would quickly spoil if you put it in.
I asked the owner about this and he admitted it had been broken for over a month -- claiming he couldn't get a new one due to supply chain issues -- and said there was a mini fridge I could use instead if I wanted.
They should unplug and remove the broken refrigerator immediately.
Other problems:
My wife and kids got locked in the suite. I left to get food and locked the door behind me with the key. But it turns out that if someone leaves and locks the upper lock with the key from the outside, the other person staying inside can't unlock from the inside (and would be trapped if there was a fire).
AC was poor. It was roasting hot the entire first day. Owner texted me that it could get down to 72, which in fairness turned out to be true overnight, but would have been nice if they hadn't set it so high before we got there on a very hot day.
Countless small details wrong. Curtains wouldn't pull shut, only one spoon, no extra trash bags, broken pump on soap...
Read moreThis was my first time in the Printmaker's Inn and I was quite disappointed. I stayed in the Henry Suite and was incredibly underwhelmed.
First, the hotel is nowhere near the historic district. The Inn borders a not-so-great part of the city and on our last night of our stay, there was an incident down the street and there were police cars there late into the night and we could hear shouting.
Unfortunately there are major problems in the suite itself.
First, we found a cockroach in the kitchen. When I mentioned this to the owner, he was very nonchalant and did not seem bothered.
The Printmaker’s website promises a complementary bottle of wine, tea and coffee available in the suite, and complementary toiletries. The only toiletries in the room was a used bottle of shampoo and body wash. When I asked the owner for at least a bar of soap, he declined to bring any and offered to bring more body wash (that was used). There was no tea kettle nor tea nor wine when we arrived; I had to remind the owner to please bring some.
The suite is in poor shape; there were cracks in the ceiling and the rooms badly needed painting. Some of the furniture had cracks and damage. I would have expected the owner to take better care of such a historic property.
The Henry suite is accessed through a back up bed alleyway; getting up and down with our suitcases was a challenge, and I was a little concerned about being on the ground floor, given the unsafe neighbourhood. Had I known, I would have booked a different suite or stayed elsewhere.
On the whole, we enjoyed Savannah immensely, but the next time I visit, I will be...
