We stayed at this location right before Easter. Things started great. Checked in an hour early. Let them know we had a pet. Associate tells me about her pets. (We stayed in the two bedroom suite.) As she is about to give me the keys, she tells me that the elevator is broken. And asks if that is OK. I have no choice at this point. We make several trips tobthe 3rd floor to unpack the car. There was trash on the staircase landings. Hopefully due to the broken elevator only. We decide to walk to dinner. The hotel is in walking distance of the actual historic district. They are on the edge. When we return from dinner, I notice a paper in the room. I'm not sure if it was there when we first checked in or not. It says that the following three days there would be carpet cleaning and we had no choice but to allow them into the room. I was concerned because of my pet. But I decided I would speak to the front desk in the morning. The next morning, we went to breakfast around 8, the trash was still on the landing. The person working said breakfast would be ready in 20 min or so. That did make me bristle a bit. There are breakfast hours. I decided to talk to the front desk about my concerns with my pet and the carpet cleaning. I suggested that perhaps our room be done on the 3rd day. Someone from the back yelled, "They won't be jumping around the building. That's not how it works." I thought perhaps it was the manager, but it wasn't nor did she have the decency to come speak to me. Just yell. The front desk associate said she would comp my valet for each day for the inconvenience and said I could speak to the manager when she arrived by 930. I had to make sure my pet would be good to go. Breakfast still wasn't ready when I was done so we decided to go get breakfast. When we returned, I checked the breakfast area and it still had not been completed. There was cereal, yogurt and hard boiled eggs. This was the case each morning we were there. We had the added expense of buying breakfast each morning because they couldn't get themselves together. We returned at 915. I waited and at 935 asked if the manager had arrived. I was told soon. At 950, I was still waiting. Just before 10, the manager came out and was ready to speak to me. I explained my concern. She asked me if I brought a kennel and I should put the pet in that. I told her that I didn't bring me pet on a trip so he could be kenneled. If that were the case I could have taken him to a kennel. Much back and forth and she looks at my reservation and she tells me that I wasn't even charged the pet fee. I said that isn't my fault, I told them at check in and even talked about the associate's pets. If I were trying to hide my pet, I wouldn't be there discussing my pet. We come to a compromise, I take the pet all day and they guarantee to clean the carpet that day so I can go to the museums the following day. She says they will comp the pet fee and valet for the elevator and carpet cleaning inconvenience. Fine. At checkout, there are lots of people so I leave my key and tell them we are checking out. They tell me great and will email my receipt. About an hour into our drive home, I get the emailed the bill. The valet and the pet fee had not been compeD. We had chosen this location because it was close enough to downtown where we would be able to check on our pet several times throughout the day and it had a 2 bedroom suite. But they had several opportunities to inform us of the elevator BEFORE arrival and about the carpet cleaning at check in so I could have made plans before the morning my vacation was starting. I waited to post this review because I was so angry from my stay that I wanted to make sure I wasn't writing in anger. But 1.5 months later and I'm still angry. However, I see from reading the reviews that the owners only state they will speak to staff. Nothing real to follow up with. I had called the corporate office that owns the hotel when I was waiting for the manager to try and get a solution, but no one there ever called...
Read moreThis place is NOT Kid Friendly, NOT Clean, and there’s NO Free Parking.
First of all, nothing was mentioned on the site about having absolutely no parking, only thing offered is $30 valet parking that is to be paid daily! Not just your typical valet either, the unprofessional valet attendant asked us to pay him more money to supposedly give us a “better parking spot”. Which honestly makes absolutely no sense, but I would advise if you chose to stay here, to remove your valuables before allowing the attendant to park your car. If this whole fiasco wasn’t bad enough, we then go up to our room to find that it’s not the room pictured in the listing when we had made the reservation online. We then go to set up the sofa bed for our kids to sleep, only to find it covered in urine and a long line of blood. The urine had been sitting there so long that there were rust stains from the springs. For a luxury hotel, to find a 2 1/2 inch- 3 inch mattress that has no layers of padding, only a layer of springs wrapped in thin fabric was beyond frustrating. Why would anyone want to lay on such filth and if they chose to lay on something in that condition, how would they actually get any rest? The toilet was in need of repair as after being used once it just kept running loudly and would not stop. We alerted management of the room conditions and requested to move to another room. She told me that there weren’t any two queen bed rooms available, but that I could try going to two separate rooms to check their conditions to see if either worked for us. Which in reality is beyond ridiculous. Seems as though their room conditions are so questionable that the guest is made to go check multiple rooms in an attempt to find one that’s clean! As the manager requested, I went to both rooms and found worse conditions then what we currently had. The first had so much urine that the rust from the springs was actually eating a hole into the fabric couch frame that was supporting the mattress. I pricked my fingers when trying to lift the mattress as there were about 5-6 springs exposed on the side of the mattress were they had ripped threw the thin fabric, which only goes to prove that there is absolutely no layers of padding wrapped around these springs for comfort. I headed to the second room to find yet another sofa bed mattress covered in urine with a large patch of rusted springs. I let the manager know about the room conditions, but with it now being 11:30pm and still have not been placed into a decent clean room that would be appropriate for 2 adults and 2 young children, we decided to check out and find another hotel. Which we did, we went to Hilton and unlike this hotel, Hilton was extremely clean. I highly recommend you avoid this Marriott and...
Read moreFront desk workers I encountered were not friendly. They were not rude mind you, just very uninterested is the way it appeared. they work in the hospitality industry, they should learn how to be hospitable. First room they put me in was noticeably dirty, the garbage disposal did not work, there was only hot water in the kitchen, the drain was super slow and the when I ran the dishwasher for the first time, it flooded the kitchen...like a BIG flood! This was in the evening. I called down and asked for maintenance who was there so they sent over a guy with 4 huge bath towels and mop. He mopped, wrung out the mop in the kitchen sink and left the 4 bath towels all over the floor to soak up the water that was still coming. Next day I called down to see when maintenance would be coming up and asked if it would be first thing. I was told, they get in around 9 am but would not be there first thing because they have other things to work on too...!?! (HELLO! you know I used the work FLOODED right?!?) So I was then asked when I want them to come, I said how about 11am. 11am comes and goes and nobody shows up. At this point, I'm angry. I called down again and asked when they are coming, I was then told that maintenance would not be in that day and would maybe in the next day....!!!! At that point I demanded to be moved to another room. At no point did anyone ever offer to move me to a different room... I was only moved when I demanded it. The tone of the front desk staff was very unconcerned. I should have been moved immediately in my opinion. the kitchen and surrounding carpet in living room area was SOAKED. Once I moved to my new room, I had no issues and the room was noticeably cleaner as well. My first room was in a cottage off the street and was #D10. Please fix this room up. Aside from what I mentioned already, the shower curtain had HUGE tears in it and there was old blood stains on the comforter that I did not notice until after I had already slept in the bed! Also, on a side note, 2 of white fence gates off Harris street that require key card access to enter the courtyard of the property either did not read my room key card at all OR did read the card but I could not get the gate open! Only 1 of 3 gates actually worked. This place needs serious maintenance. Its a lovely place but it is not taken care of properly and the front desk staff does not care at all about the guests based on their attitude...
