Our stay at the Justine Inn was fine . . . however, I have a few significant suggestions. As my husband and I were being checked in, the hostess was showing us where the coffee station would be set up the next morning by 7 a.m. I asked about tea (as I don’t drink coffee) and she showed me a dish with several tea varieties. Well, I arrived at the station the next morning and there was NO hot water, no carafe—nothing! So, I went back to the kitchen and asked (the same hostess we had spoken to when checking in) for hot water. She came out and drew a cup of hot water from a brewing station,. I asked how I could use this when I was ready for a second cup (I usually drink about three). She said the owner doesn’t want the guests to touch their equipment, so I was to ask her when I was ready for a refill. A few minutes later, I went back into the kitchen for another cup of water and I could see she was boiling a pan of hot water on the stove. I then went to pick up the pan by the handle to pour the water into my cup and she said she would take care of it when she had a chance (she was in the midst of making the breakfast). So, I waited . . . Breakfast included French toast—but without real maple syrup (this at a place that charges at least $240 a night for a room?!). I’m not a fan of the “fake syrup,” so I declined the French toast. I must say the omelet, fresh fruit, and bacon were delicious—with a beautiful presentation on the plate. In our room, the bed sheets were uncomfortable. My guess is that they were some type of (scratchy) percale. Again, for what the owner is asking for accommodations per night, I would highly recommend that he purchases luxury sheets for his guests. In our bathroom the mirror was probably 62” at the bottom of its frame—at that height I couldn’t see the top of my head when standing at the sink. There is a large marble slab below the mirror (see photo). While I had to use a small makeup mirror for my bathroom needs, I think it would be very helpful if a larger mirror could be placed on the slab below the framed mirror. Finally, there is a pleasant scent throughout the Justine, so I wrote to the owner when I got home asking for information on the scent (it was truly delightful). I sent a follow up note. I never received a response. The Justine Inn is located in a beautiful part of Savannah—surrounded by historic homes, many from the 1800s and walking distance to a number of restaurants. Parking is free on a side street.

I am so happy I found this place! From start to finish everything was great. This was our first time staying at a bed and breakfast and it was such a great experience. It was also our first time having our dog stay with us in a place that was not an entire home. Easy booking. Everyone on the team was so friendly, welcoming and accommodating. Alyssa & Monica were so kind and easy going! Breakfast was delicious and very filling, couldn’t even finish it! Tony even offered some sausage for our pup! Cookies were delicious. Wine in the evening was a nice touch to be able to sit and unwind after exploring all day. Other couples staying were also very friendly and great company to chat with. One of the best parts is that we were able to bring our 65lb golden retriever. Everyone was so accommodating with him and gave him lots of belly rubs. We were on the bottom floor which had its own entrance which made taking him out to use the bathroom very convenient and caused less noise if he were to run and up down the stairs every time. For those interested in staying, just a tip that if you have mobility issues, it is a historic home so the stairs are narrow/steep so just be conscious of that and shower stall was small so if you are a taller/larger person & have mobility issues, some more difficulties there might be present there too. Very close to Forsyth park (2 blocks). Easy to walk to other places too. A but for to get to River Street but we stopped along the way to break up the walk a bit. Quiet area so pretty much no outside noise. Floors are a bit creaky but again, that’s a given with a historic home. Parking is on the street (free) but it is around the corner as the street in front is only 2 hour parking. So park in front to check in and drop off your luggage then move your car afterward. Would definitely recommend and we will definitely visit again!

We visited over Christmas and thoroughly enjoyed sitting in the parlor by the fire and Christmas tree. Abigail and Sarah are both lovely people who make you feel right at home. Breakfast was substantial and varied. Happy hour was a nice surprise. We stayed in the Provence room which was right below the parlor and there was enough space to set up the travel kennel without feeling crowded and we had easy access to go outside. While our pup, Goose, was allowed to join us in the parlor we had to get permission to leave him in his kennel when we went to dinner. When you travel with a dog that is not a service animal, it is not practical to expect he can be with you all the time which is why we use the travel kennel, to keep him and the room safe. I'm thankful it worked out as the weather was too cold to eat dinner outdoors. The inn is in a lovely neighborhood with Taylor square only a short block away. If you are traveling with a dog, be sure to ask questions about whether or not you can leave them for short periods of time. Parking - if you are not fortunate enough to get parking directly behind the inn, Liberty St doesn't have meters or time limits, just a schedule for street sweeping on Thursday night.

I'm a little sad to write this, but being a world traveler; I want to inform guests of our experience in that maybe some things can be helped. This was our second time at Justine Inn. Our first time here was exceptional. We were greeted warmly, in true southern hospitality spirit, with a personalized charcuterie appetizer, a welcoming drink - a friendly atmosphere. The rooms had peach cookies (packaged) on the bed and treats for our pup. We felt so special and it was the main reason for our second booking. But this time; things were very different. The home was missing something. It felt empty, and unwelcoming. When we arrived we were given a drink but it was abrupt. No welcome back/acknowledgment was given and that seems very easy to accomplish. Instead we were abruptly asked when we wanted breakfast - not where would you like to eat - inside or out; no guidance for where our pup was welcomed. And what really struck us is that this location puts on the website specifically that they are dog friendly. But - no treats were given (Brownie, our pup was in our arms and it's not like she missed it). No treats in the room, no little water bowl or anything to embellish that this is something they offer. Again, unlike last time. The woman who 'welcomed' us (and that is a generous word), seemed rush, said she needed to leave, seemed uninterested in her guests. Like I said, last time we were greeted so warmly it was locked in right then and there we were coming back. The dining area used to have treats out all the time and this time there was nothing but two bottles of water and some scattered leftover Easter candy. For an historic home of grandeur, this seemed very tacky. An afterthought. The fan in our room was obnoxiously unbalanced and loud throughout the night. I was celebrating my birthday and that was in the comments I believe when I booked it. My husband mentioned something to the host/manager - whoever she was - and she just said "happy birthday". What's the point in asking if you're celebrating something if even a simple hand-written note can't be provided. There are so many little things this property did which made the guests feels so special and I'm unsure why they were changed. The host said she had only been there for six months and I would like the owners to know that she does need some 'southern hospitality' training. We asked to eat outside in the morning with our pup and it just seemed like a huge inconvenience for her. Again, don't market yourselves as dog-friendly when you're not making an effort to welcome the dog for heavens sakes. Instead we were adorned with conversation from her about guests she didn't like, and how we shouldn't use a bathtub in a hotel, and how we shouldn't use robes and that's why they don't provide them. (We didn't ask, mind you). The whole experience was odd, and we felt uncared for. There is nothing special about this place any longer. We will look elsewhere. If you are not travelling with a dog, I highly recommend the Eliza Thompson House where their staff is exceptional, and they tidy to the most intricate things to make you feel special. The only good thing I can say is the street is lovely and it's a good location for walking to everything; but most places you stay in Savannah are walkable. Hopefully, this location can get their hospitality...

After walking through and seeing my room, decided not to stay. There are about 20+ steps leading from the street to the front door, 20+ steps in the back where there is 2 parking spots (on a 1st come 1st service situation), then once inside, there is yet another set of narrow steps that curve left towards the top floor. Very limited parking in front on the one-way street.|Once in my room, found out there's no ceiling fan and the thermostat in the hall controls both bedrooms upstairs. Therefore, if you like it cool & the other guests need it hot, there's a problem. The bathroom tub is probably from when the house was built, so it's pretty cool, but it's also so old I wouldn't sit in it to bathe. Kind of gross. |The house is beautifully furnished and well maintained. They don't mention not having an elevator to carry all your bags in, which for someone with health issues was a problem. The food looked amazing in all of the pictures, however; what they don't tell you is there's only spots for 4 people to have breakfast made for them, so if you don't reserve your spot early, you don't get food. There are 2 guest rooms upstairs, plus an apartment type area underneath the main floor, so book early! No coffee makers in the rooms, so you have to go downstairs and ask someone to get you a cup of coffee.|If you prefer easy parking, elevators, someone to place your luggage on a cart to bring to your room, valet parking, vending machines or lobby pantries with food-snacks-drinks, room service, in-house restaurant, control over the heating/cooling, access to food/snacks 24/7 or a full bar, I suggest you find one of the many hotels in the area. |But after being inside & attempting to carry luggage up 2 flights of stairs, hearing about the shared thermostat and no in-house food options without a reservation (if the 4 spots weren't already taken), I went back downstairs with what I'd already carried in & canceled my week long stay. My debit card had already been ran since my arrival for $1100.00, and a $315.00 deposit made at booking. The young lady made a call to a Tony who said to refund my money. She then called a manager to ask how to do that, & I was told a check would have to be sent within a week or two to my home. It never arrived. Made several phone calls leaving messages, sent several emails. No response. |Being 12 hours from home with my 17 y/o daughter and nowhere to stay, I luckily stumbled upon an image of a nearby hotel called the Hyatt Regency-Riverfront which had availability & every amenity you could imagine. Cost $1000 more for the week, and I'm out $1500 for The Justine Inn, but so worth it-I'll never stay anywhere else in Savannah GA & neither will any of my...
