We found Hokkaido no more than a month ago and have already ordered them at least 5 times for a number of reasons. First off their portion sizes! While their prices aren't the very cheapest, it's due to their proportionate to price dish sizes! I have ordered overpriced asian food and gotten a children's size portion more times than I can count in my life; but never from Hokkaido. Secondly, while we have never dined in, their customer service is apparent in the way they carefully prepare food for to-go. Our food is always correct, piping hot and the packaging is next level. Food is packaged in nice containers, sauces and soups are packaged separate so nothing gets soggy, plenty of utensils and napkins are provided, and a big one for me is that while the food is put in a paper bag, it is double bagged in a plastic bag with handles which makes it so much easier to carry home. The last point I'd like to make is that the food is delicious. We've tried a couple dishes now, we definitely have favorites, but everything we've had tasted phenomenal. Hokkaido has become the only place to order Asian cuisine for us, and as long as they keep serving we'll keep...
Read moreWe really hoped this would our new favorite neighborhood restaurant. We gave it 2 tries. The remodel of the building looks good, the presentation of the food is nice, but the flavor quality is just ok. It does not compare to the other sushi restaurants in the area. While they finally got their liquor license, they don't have a drink menu. We went on 7/21/25 and all ended up sick. Near the end of our visit we could see the temperature on the case holding the raw fish. It sat at 43° for most of the time we saw it. I asked the manager what temperature the raw fish should be held at, and he didn't know. Sadly. We won't be back.
I appreciate you acknowledging my feedback. However, working with raw fish you should know that is the max temperature. The national recommended temperature is 32° for optimal safety of your guests. The restaurant only had 2 other tables, so the case wasn't opening much. If you're accounting for that, it should be set much...
Read moreOrdered takeout this past Monday around 4p. Online ordering system was easy and quick. Not sure if the food quality problem was due to it being a Monday or if we were given the last reheated scraps from their lunch service? At any rate the Orange Chicken tasted burnt and was chewy. The Egg Rolls tasted burnt and nasty like they used dirty cooking oil to deep fry them. The Chicken Lowmein tasted fishy and very oily. The Goyoza Dumplings tasted good and were nicely sauteed (surprised). Expected better quality for the $50 spent on dinner. I'd like to see them succeed as this restaurant building seems to be cursed with back to back failures of prior...
