The good stuff: Hotel was very close to the airport which was a surprise. The shuttle is free and it was only a few minutes to get to the hotel. It also runs 24 hours. They allow pets. Front desk staff was knowledgeable about the area and gave good directions for us to get to the train. They were also very nice. Free WiFi. I got a discount at booking for becoming a member (no charge). Things that made me unhappy: There was no breakfast for guests at the hotel, only coffee and tea. My fault for not asking before booking. Room service doesn’t start until 11am if you want to order food. We had to walk a couple blocks to Denny’s. At least it was close! Housekeeping did not clean our room. We had to go to the desk and request new towels. We were on the first level. Our view out the window was directly into someone’s backyard. The hospitality room only had a few outlets. I had move a table and plug my laptop in next to the microwave. I feel like our room was overpriced, even with the member discount I received.

I’m giving 5 stars because my one night stay at this hotel was great for its price! I was pleasantly surprised for the king bed room I booked for because I didn’t realize it has a desk and chair. It made it easier for me to do homework there. I had a flight the next morning so this was a great place to stay at close to the airport. They have transportation to the airport. The van/bus runs every 20 minutes during certain hours of the day. There is no free breakfast. Everything seemed clean. The only thing that was harder to control was the air conditioning. It had a wall themostat, and I think it updates the temperature a little slow. Overall still great though!

The room was clean. Most places I have stayed though offer bar soap along with body wash, shampoo, hair conditioner, hand or body lotion. This place had a small tube combined shampoo/conditioner and bar soap. I am sure I could have asked for more at the front desk. But not enough for 2 persons starting out. These things of course are small and not do or die. My only reason to mention these things is that I don't bring my own soap and shampoo and rely on the hotel to provide these items as part of the cost for the room. So I guess my point is bring your own soap and shampoo if you don't think what they provide is enough. Otherwise our stay was fine, very happy.

Summary: for the frugal minded who value the location to the airport and monorail train. Service was good, the front desk lady we first ran into who helped us store our luggage as we had arrived early was very sociable and friendly. Upon hearing that we'd be out for the day to downtown seattle she advised us away from driving (traffic and the president was gonna be in town that day making the traffic worse) and said we should just take the Link train! we were newbies so unaware of how that all worked and she gave us the scoop and was spot on. For the unfamiliar: So had we known the following info we could have saved the rental car money for our 'visit downtown Seattle day'. The monorail is right off the airport so you could literally fly in, get to the monorail and travel north to down seattle without a car. However, we were staying at the Red Roof. So from the Red Roof Inn you can walk south less than 1/2 a mile (around 10 minutes) to the monorail station and for a not much money purchase an all day ticket (oh and under 18 year old are free!). The recommendation from staff was to get off at the Westlake stop. From Westlake station its a 8 min walk to Pike Market. So yes, it requires being in condition enough for some walking but thats pretty much required around downtown Seattle as the area is on a slope so walking some hills, steps etc is part of it. The Pike Market is multilevel (ie steps, ramps). Is the walk safe? We never did it at night, but during the day though you do see the occasional person that appears homeless or 'out of sorts' we never felt in danger or nervous. However, this is Seattle, and sadly it, like San Fran and other such cities haven't been doing enough about crime (their minds have been elsewhere apparently than protecting the citizens who pay the taxes that keep up the city but i digress) ---- So protect your valuables, dont leave anything in a car, and probably good to have the rental insurance. (not being paranoid either as its what the locals advise) This is a no frills hotel. Doesnt mean its 'bad' but if you need the free breakfast and such then you'll have to go (and pay) elsewhere. However, our room was clean, it was adequate and did the job we needed. They could store our luggage for when arriving pre-checkin, and the service was always friendly. Just realize its about saving money so theres not a lot of the typical freebies. But that doesnt mean its a dive or a roach...

We knew what we were booking when we chose this hotel so my review is based on realistic expectations for this level of budget-conscious accommodation.  1) Shuttle service was EXCELLENT - since the hotel is so close we got picked up within 10 minutes of arriving at the designated  island in the parking structure for courtesy pickups. Bottles of water were offered to us free of charge by the gracious driver which was a nice touch. Going back to the airport was equally simple! Highly recommend tipping these gentleman for their customer-focused service.2) Receptionist and check-in was efficient and polite, but not overly enthusiastic, again, which was fine since we knew we weren’t staying at the Hilton. 3) Common areas were as expected: older, a bit run down, but elevator was working fine. Recommend asking for a 1st floor room (which is on the 2nd floor above the lobby) in case you’re in a rush so you can use the stairs if necessary.3) Room furnishings were renovated/refreshed which we were very thankful for, however the carpet was not — it was sticky and worn, so SOCKS are suggested, or cheap inside slip-ons.4) In-room amenities are sparse, but provided everything needed for short stays. They even had single-serve coffee packs which we really appreciated.  Hangers on the closet were FEW - we requested additional ones but were told they didn’t have any. If we were staying longer we would’ve invested in a set of 10 from Target to dry laundry on (we just brought some Woolite from home and hand-washed small batches in the sink as needed). 5) Nothing to do with the property, but just wanted to alert travelers that UBER and LYFT prices are RIDICULOUS here!  We chose not to rent a car because we’re from Japan and drive on the opposite side of the street there, but WOW, in 3 days we spent over $200 in ride share costs just to go out each night to places within 30 minutes of the hotel. YIKES!Overall, for the cost, convenience and little courtesies we received here at the RRI, we would recommend staying here as long as you set your expectations...

I had just moved into the state for a new job, and unfortunately the house I was staying in suffered major damages from the cyclone bomb that happened in Nov. I couldn’t stay there while they were fixing it up so I had to move out immediately. I didn’t know how long renovations would take, so I needed to find a hotel that was affordable, close to public transit and accepted dogs. I found this place and I ended up having to stay for 2 months there! It was a very stressful and hard time for me but the staff at the Red Roof were so kind and helpful, they made my time there pleasant and easy. All the staff and house keepers were amazing. Terry who worked overnights in particular provided outstanding service. She went out of her way to help me with my bookings. Another woman who worked the mid mornings to afternoons, always had my key cards ready to go and she even brought my dog some treats. The entire staff though were so compassionate, kind and helpful. They always provided excellent customer service and support when I needed it. Red Roof doesn’t serve breakfast, but they do provide coffee every morning. And though there isn’t a microwave in the rooms, they do have one in the lobby which was very convenient. There’s also a laundry room and a small exercise room on the main floor. Red Roof is also 5 mins from the airport and provides a free shuttle there. There’s also a bus line right out front that takes you to the light rail/ downtown Seattle. The rooms are big and clean with nice modern amenities and for the most part, it’s fairly quiet and I felt safe. If you’re looking for a super affordable option for a quick, or in my situation, longer stay, that’s conveniently located and has a fantastic staff, this place is it! Highly recommend! Thank you to the wonderful staff at Red Roof! They really made my stay there comfortable, safe and...
