An extremely unique piece located as part of a large collection of art works in the Fremont area including the Fremont troll, Statue of Lenin, and the Waiting for the Interurban historical landmark. Lovely informational graphic nearby which explains in detail the background and the towering rocket statue is quite unique and unexpected in a quiet Seattle neighborhood. Its presence is bold but also understated and blends in until you look up. Had a little bit of trouble finding the rocket even after seeing the information board nearby. Hint: It's attached to the side of the building and the bottom of the rocket is not visible until you almost see the roof of the building.

Seattle Must See ~ The Fremont Rocket is a rocket sculpture in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle, #Washington, in the United States. Before relocating to Fremont, the rocket was displayed at an army surplus store in Seattle's Belltown neighborhood. It moved to its current location when the surplus store went out of business in 1994. The rocket was constructed from military surplus, using the tail boom of a Fairchild C-119 'Flying Boxcar' transport aircraft dressed up with rocket-like fins. #localguides

As far as rockets and small towns go, this rocket is stellar. It’s right in the middle of Fremont and if you start here and do a big loop around, you’ll get a very good sense of this micro neighborhood in Seattle. When you get close to the rocket maybe it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles but if you stand boy, is it a cool...
