Checked in around 5pm the front entrance stunk of mold and mildew- I over looked that since we just needed a nights sleep, we were told the room was down on the right side of the building, last stair case upstairs to the left . Drove around to the room and noticed that half the rooms looked like they were being torn apart pr remodeled, the saw what appears to be their 'trash vehicle'. The door to the room under us had no handle and was unaccessible, gave you the crime scene vibes. Anyways the First room we were given was already occupied, luckilynobody was inside the room when i opened the door. I walked back down to the front desk and explained that the room has clothes and personal belongings still in it, he gave us a different room. We then were given room 113. I checked the room I look for bugs and check the water and toliet- all my usual routines. The bottom of the tub was disgusting- okay I can over look that too. I knew it wouldn't be a 5 star experience but I didnt expect o 0 star experience either. The fridge worked, toilet flushed, water got hot so I thought we were going to be okay. We go get dinner and return as we sat and ate in the room. 7pm STILL DAYLIGHT OUTSIDE a COCKROACH crawls out from the heater/AC unit. I immediately tell my kids and Husband that I'm going to the front desk to checkout, load what we have inside- which thankfully wasn't much and shake everything out, get the dog out of the room and were LEAVING. As they shook and threw everything outside on the ground to be loaded into trash bags I went to the front desk and asked for a refund and explained that at 1st I was okay with mistakes happening and given the wrong room but I WAS NOT OKAY WITH COCKROACHS AND BUGS. The desk tenant acted as this was normal and it was no big deal, I had already put the HOLD on my card so they weren't able to charge me thankfully. We stay in hotels almost 5 months out of a year in total and I WILL NEVER STAY AT THIS ONE AGAIN! IT...
Read moreOn our travels back through IN on our way to Chi town we stopped at this Econolodge because they advertised newly renovated. The entrance was not very inviting and that also included the “breakfast room!” The clerk was an individual who did not present himself very well either in his dress and grooming or professionalism. We asked for one night and were given a choice of a king or 2 queens. We took the 2 beds and were directed to the bottom floor around the corner. There was strewn garbage laying all around the premise including the entrance to our outside room! The room had been hastily painted because the paint splatters were all over the toilet and floor the paint on the walls was run onto the other color on the facing wall! We were given 2 small bars of soap and a shampoo. The toilet area had one roll of toilet paper on the dispenser but no back up roll😬 The towels were very used and old and need to be replaced and updated. The worse was this....the bed spread was all stained and dirty! I was really grossed out by that! I wanted to leave and try a different hotel. If it weren’t for the fact that it was later in the evening and tired from traveling a long distance from FL I would have checked out and ask for my money back! In the morning they only offered coffee and doughnuts sealed in cellophane because the Coronavirus scare had already started up. We were glad to get...
Read moreCan I give zero stars? First, I booked the room online, site unseen. Which is fairly normal. I also booked a non-smoking room, as my oldest has asthma. I should have been concerned, when I walked into the lobby and was hit by the stench of stale smoke. Signs all over the door and windows declare this a smoke-free lobby. Not so much. I then am given my key (Room 109) and proceed to the room. I walk by about 7 or 8 rooms that all have tags that say "No Smoking"... no such tag on my door. I, again, open the door only to be hit by the same, but more pronounced, stale smoke odor. I immediately shut the door, walk back to the lobby and demand a non-smoking room, which is what I purchased online. The worker's reply was "Oh, it is a non-smoking room, the tag just fell off". I then told her it was most definitely not a non-smoking room and she should go smell for herself. Which she did, and agreed, and said that the best she can offer is their smoke deodorizing spray, because they were out of non-smoking rooms. It was late, my kids were tired, so I acquiesced. It smelled like flowery smoke for about 4 hours, then back to smoke. Also the mini-fridge rattled like mad. I hated every moment in this place. Stay at...
