So we came in because we had a softball tournament in Seymour and we had a break in between games. The store inside was great and the lady who checked me out BEFORE i ate there was outstanding. However, things turned quickly south when we got to our table. We did have 3 tables together which was a big order but that’s fine we had more than enough time to let the server get situated. So she comes to the table and her attitude already seems annoyed that there is so many of us. She starts taking drinks and I ask politely if I can put a barrel bite in since that’s technically an appetizer and should come out before my food. She says she needs to take care of drinks first and that she’ll be back. Cool whatever, no biggie right. Well she comes back 10 minutes later with our drinks and starts taking orders with me first. I give her my order stating I would like my barrel bites first. Cool thought we had an understanding since she’s taking everyone’s order at the same time. She moves on down and then she gets set off that one of the dads asked for a cup of Carmel for his cheese curds and she said we don’t have that, and he says well I’ve ordered it before can you ask please. She literally rolls her eyes at him and says sure but I know we don’t have it. Cool orders are over. So then about 20- 30 minutes later our food comes out. But guess what I didn’t get my barrel bites until the food. Didn’t say anything. I asked her if I could have a refill of water and she says yeah she’ll back with drinks as she’s very busy. She also brought the dads Carmel and kind of slams it in front of him and says here’s your Carmel in a rude tone. Well as we’re waiting for refills for our drinks another server walks by and our coach grabs her to let her know that she needed butter, hashbrowns were way over cooked and that the sausage looks a little undercooked. The other server says okay I’ll let your server know: our server literally comes back and throws the butter in her bowl right over her while she’s eating. And from there it just went south and the coach went and spoke to someone at the front and got her food comped. We also never got any refills 😂 and all she did was bring checks. It was insane. Read moreWe visited the Seymour location at 10:30 on December 26th 2024. The overall experience was awful. I am not one to complain or post but this situation was handled so poorly I will not be going back to cracker barrel. The food was fine, everything we ordered tasted like it should, but our eggs were undercooked. They were ordered over medium but very clearly had runny whites. Not a big deal, mistakes happen and we were in no way upset. Eggs take maybe 2 minutes to cook so we will just ask for new eggs. Should be easy right? Well I guess not. After bringing it to the servers attention, she says "uhm those are over medium" her tone, demeanor and whole attitude was defensive. We point out the runny whites and reluctantly she returns to the kitchen. Mam... these are eggs, we are not trying to get free eggs, we just want what we ordered. I know bad customers exist, I know serving is hard, I work at a restaurant myself. But I just don't understand attitude towards customers who are trying to be respectful. The server sends the manager out with the eggs. The manager also seems annoyed but hey the eggs were actually cooked right!!! YAY! The rest of our visit it seemed the server never even acknowledged us. The manager never came back. And even through checkout no one asked us if everything was alright (something that they always used to do). We were treated like angry Karen's over 2 eggs that we politely asked to be remade. Over food cost of probably about 50 cents you chose to lose a customer, absolutely fantastic decision! (Please note, the restaurant was not busy at all and if anyone who actually cares sees this, I put the date and time so you can look at your sales). Read moreWe had a great server (who we will name Zee) who did everything in her power to serve us, where the issue stands is the management. We got to our table at about 1:45, 4 people, we didn't get our food till 3:08, for which we had a movie to see in Columbus at 3:30, so we needed to scarf our food down and leave ASAP. Zee came out and said all we needed to pay for was our alcoholic beverages (mimosa and that one jack Daniels drink, 13 bucks tops), we get some random person who comes to our table and gives us the check, for over 45 dollars, they barely knocked a meal off as well as the 13 bucks worth of alcohol.
At this point my patience was maxed out at 3:17, I called a random server over to dispute the check, a manager came out, and after my quick overview of what our server told us, the manager promptly replied, "She shouldn't have said that..." I told him to write the check up, and that she did a fantastic job of serving us and wanted to make a wrong thing right (numerous tables around us had ordered their food after we did, got their food, ate their food and left before we even got our food), and frankly he should back up his kind hearted, quick thinking server.
Me and two others had to leave as we were already late (30 minute drive). One of us stayed behind, got the PROPER check of roughly 13 dollars, and assured Zee as she came back out to apologize one more time, that this was not her fault, and if the manager gives her sh*t, not to take any of it.
We gave her a decent tip.
The management is terrible. The servers are kind and they actually care. The food is Cracker barrel food, however you rate that.
Never going here again, especially if they wish to disrespect their patrons, AND their staff.
Would rather go to sunshine cafe, they've never done us wrong.
