We just returned from LBI and this was our first stay at the Islander Motel. My wife and I along with our two boys (11 and 15) had a terrific experience at the Islander Motel. The rooms had a BRAND NEW EVERYTHING!!! New beautiful bathroom with glass tile accents, new kitchen with new appliances and new granite counter top, new carpet, new dining room table and chairs, new flat screen TV, new beds, new blinds on the windows. My very picky wife really enjoyed her stay here due to the rooms being spotless and everything we needed was so close by. Wawa's Deli 2 blocks away, Doughnut shop around the corner from the Motel, Liquor store for beer, wine etc. was only a couple of blocks away. Ship Bottom Shellfish and Seafood Restaurant was only a few blocks away (EXCELLENT FOOD and VERY FRESH FISH - YOU CAN EVEN PICK YOUR OWN AT THEIR SEAFOOD DISPLAY CASES) BTW, Fantasy Island is only a short 15 minute drive down Long Beach Ave. Personally, I don't mind driving a short distance to be in the "thick of it all" meaning noise and nonsense. However, when I vacation, I don't need to be right on top of all the noise and nonsense all of the time which is why we stayed here at The Islander Motel / Town of Ship Bottom. After 10-10:30 pm the area around this Motel was really nice and quiet providing a good night sleep. I would obviously recommend this Motel to others.

It's very convenient to get to the beach from there, and most anything else you're looking for is within easy walking distance. Plus, the place is a breeze to find, once you're on LBI. "Go to the second light (Central Ave.), make a right, and three short blocks on the left."
These fine folks go the extra mile, in many ways. In our case, we arrived on a Thursday. My wife Geri liked the room so much that she immediately asked me to inquire about the rate for the next night. Joe - regretfully - informed me that he was sold out for the weekend. BUT, he told us it would be no problem to use his beach passes for the next day, and that we could leave our car parked in his lot while we went out onto the beach. This way we essentially got two days on the island for the price of one night. How do you beat that?
Meeting Joe and Anne is like running into old friends that you haven't seen for years. You feel as if you've known them forever!
Geri and I plan to use the Islander as a "destination" from now on, when we just want to get away for a night or two.
And we won't care what time of...
Read moreA great property, rooms are basic, though some have kitchens that are more than what I'd call "motel basic". But all rooms are done exceptionally! Frankly, who needs more than a bed or beds, table, TV, bath, fridge, microwave, A/C, heat & light. You're at the shore! The rooms are impeccably clean, large simple, yet well appointed. Plenty of TV channels (for those rainy days!) & Truly Wonderful owner/operators whom go above & beyond for their guests. You can tell they truly do love what they do & make it possible for their guest to have a nice place to stay. They take pride in their property & the experience their guests have. If you're looking for a place to stay & don't need to have all the frills of pools, hot tubs, spas & such (it's the beach, who needs all that?) give them a call! You will not find a cleaner, more well kept hotel with more kindly, friendly, helpful...
