Upon checking in to Wingate by Wyndham Richmond at Shortpump Virginia, I asked if my husband, a virginia corrections officer, or myself, a virginia educator, would qualify for any type of state discount. We were told immediately that since I had booked online our hotel room was paid for through a third part, ie, Priceline, so they couldn't add any discount. I was fine with that. Then I was required to give my credit card for in incidentals that we might incur, ie room service, breaking something, leaving a mess, ordering movies, or something to that effect or so I thought...no guidelines were offered. We ordered no roomservice. We Removed our trash from our dinner ourselves, made sure towels/ wash clothes were in the bathroom, replaced the ironing board and iron and even straightened up the beds before we checked out before the 12:00 checkout time and still had a 25.00 incidental charge to my credit card. I had already paid taxes and fees, but did not receive a list of those incidental charges at checkout. I only found out about them when I checked my bank account that afternoon... not sure what they were for as I listed the number of occupants sleeping in the room at the booking site. Just felt like a scam to me...if you don't want persons using the 3rd party booking, then at least be up front and say we will charge you the discount you ate supposedly getting anyway and don't be rude about it...I'm a professional, my husband is a professional and this was unprofessional. If your continental breakfast was the incidental, say so...if swimming in your pool was the incidental say so. Don't double charge me for the taxes just because you can. My cost originally was to be 118.00 for the night. With taxes and fees we paid 134.00. After the 25.00 incidental fee, we ended up paying 159.00 for a room with 2 queen beds not much in regard to a television lineup and no itemized bill to speak of at all. Kind of disappointed with the secrecy...and the unfriendly response to my questions at check in. Read moreI am posting this review based on the assistant general manager we have stayed at this hotel approximately 72 days in 2023 on and off since the beginning of the year we travel a lot just so happens me and my wife both work in this city so as employee and business owner, we stay here in this review, I am making a statement that if a customer no matter of their level of membership being at platinum, gold, silver or diamond has spent the amount of money that we have since the beginning of the year, we’re not even talking about last year we’re talking about the beginning of this year The hotel hospitality staff your front desk staff are absolutely amazing but your assistant general manager has a problem about us getting an upgrade now if I’ve spent over $6000 just in this year aloan the value of me being a customer should be a higher priority, then a diamond silver platinum titanium member that maybe stay in your facility once a year Therefore money I don’t think it’s ever change colors. It’s all the same so in understanding that you’re not liking the fact that I am getting an upgrade as a courtesy I have no problem if the room is not available now the king suite during the week is relatively not available if I happen to rebook the next morning because I have a meeting that’s gonna go till 3 o’clock and I’m still in the King suite there should not be a problem if it’s the weekend and I’m still in town, the king suite , if someone has already probably booked it online I have no problem switching rooms but do not lose a customer that has spent $6000 or more and we’re only three months into the new year to a customer that may be spends once a year, the dynamic of this review is to bring awareness now you’re complaining that I’m getting upgrades but let’s talk about the televisions. The guide on the TV has not worked since we’ve been staying here since 2022 to the spa does not work at all if my memory serves me correctly Douglas aquatics would be more than happy to fix that in Richmond Virginia from you only have two ice machines but five floors but only to work so if a customer has paid over $6000 since the beginning of the year , those things should be fixed. Read moreHORRIBLE Customer Service! Front Desk Manager is disgusting! We had a total of 14 rooms blocked for wedding. Bartender cussed out our out of town guests. 2 very nice young ladies that work there went out of their way to accommodate our party until the Front Desk Manager came in and yelled at them and he made them kick us out of the banquet room they put us in - they were basically in tears because they felt so bad for how the bartender treated us. No AC in one of the rooms and they did nothing about it and did not comp for the room. No hot water in another. Overcharged for our room. They also put incidental charges per night on credit card WITHOUT advising. Created a huge nightmare as we were walking out the door for wedding! OH and the icing on the cake - we left a $600 radio in our room. As soon as we realized this we called and we were treated so outrageously disgusting. Manager refused to call me, he refused to allow employee check in housekeeping. All phone calls to the room were not put through. Police were involved and the Manager STILL refused to take care of that night. I was PROMISED that the Manager and Housekeeping Manager would be in contact first thing in the morning. That NEVER happened and when I went up there to get the radio, the Manager was VERY confrontational. There is a notebook of all housekeeping items that they find AT THE FRONT DESK! How hard would it have been for them to tell me the night before that they had the radio??? He refused to address the overcharge on the room. The Sales Coordinator Deann appears and takes care of the overcharge. She had an excuse for every single complaint we had. I knew from the very beginning we should have stayed at the Hilton right next door! There is no such thing as Customer Service at this location with the Front Desk Manager, General Manager or Sales Coordinator. They don't want to hear that there is a serious problem. They will continue to mistreat and rob you of your hard...
