I hate giving bad reviews, but this motel does not deserve more then one star. I called the motel about one and a half weeks before my arrival date. Told the lady on the phone I had a bad knee and I just had wrist surgery four weeks ago, so could I please have a down stars room. The lady at the motel said I was in lucky and she would reserve me the last down stairs room. I also said we would be checking in late, just so she would know I was coming and would not give my room away. I arrived around 9 to 9:30 pm, to find out she gave my room away to a lady that walked with a cane. Then she told me she forgot about my request. Funny thing Is I asked for a confirmation number and she said she would put her initials and the room number (15) down to remind her, that she promised me that room. Being she gave my room away, she said she had another type of downstairs room, so we went to look at the room to make sure it would work for me. I’m glad I had the motel lady show me the room, as it was already occupied. I ended up having to take an upstairs room, which I managed to climb with my husbands help. I would of left this motel, if any other hotel had vacancy, but due to a convention all hotels were booked. The hotel is older and the room was subpar. The worst part was the flat stained pillows! The pillow cases were a least clean. The bath towels were so stiff, I didn’t know it was possible for a towel to feel that hard! There was a cold draft off the window, so we keep the heater on during the night. The security chain on the door was missing parts, but the dead bolt did work. The beds were to hard for me, but the mattress seemed to be newer. I also was quoted one price over the phone and charged a higher price when I checked in. This motel could be a quaint place to stay if...
Read moreThe Jamestown Railroad Motel is by far one of the best places we’ve ever stayed! Check in was smooth with no hidden fees or surprises. Ed & Andrea (on site managers) made us feel comfortable, both are extremely friendly, approachable and do their best to accommodate guests. Both treated us as if we were old friend who stopped to visit.
Our room was very roomy, extremely clean, stocked with linen, refrigerator, microwave and a large desk that we used to conduct our daily business. Our bottom floor room had a window that captured the natural sunlight each morning which made early mornings enjoyable. I slept like a baby, no noise to keep me up. Parking is ample, free, secure the lot was spotless . The hotel itself is set off of Jamestown’s Main Street but if you walk about 600 feet there you are, in the middle of the great shopping and fabulous restaurants that line each side of the street.
I wouldn’t hesitate to call upon the Railtown Hotel again for travel accommodations, they made our stay in Jamestown easy and relaxed, thank you Ed & Andrea! Oh yes, we can’t forget Elmore, the mascot and dog who greeted us each day and is such a friendly, playful dog and ensured we had a good laugh each day!
Thank you again, hope to see...
Read moreQuaint. I'm not tech app savvy. I tried online, but decided to go there and see if I could get someone to explain this to me. A man came out, I explained what I hoped for, he turned around and left, saying he'd brb. A woman finally came from the back and sense I had waited for so long, I had ASSUMED he had also delivered the message/problem/my hope to her. Damn. I paid FULL price, I wasn't up to re-explaining, I had driven from Lathrop to Pinecrest, I was exhausted, and had been given a break from care giving to my 65 year old husband with stage 4 renal cancer. Mind you, I don't expect people to be mind readers, yet I expected better from "hospitality". Better communication within the staff/owner (not sure if this is family owned or married couple, non communication will kill a relationship). It's old, creaky and drafty. I'd stay again as long as I'm not the one attempting to get one of those Expedia kind of deals. BTW, I've lived for years in Tuolumne County, it had been near 20 years sense...
