This is a local burger joint. They've been around for decades - I remember my dad bringing me here on our way to the state park about 20 years ago (Where did the time go, man?). They've got the staples - burgers, fries, shakes, nuggets. Where they shine is the menu options that go above and beyond what a typical burger stand would do, but never making it feel 'extra.' Their base menu has some gems. Mini corn dogs, slushes, floats, a variety of shake flavors beyond the classic trio. Want a different kind of float? They'll put ice cream over any soda you ask for. Aant your cone dipped in something other than chocolate? You have options. And while, usually, variety comes with frequent outages or a hit to quality, they nail it every time, and very rarely have they been out of something I wanted. The total was $30, which is crazy for the amount and quality of food. As they're handing me my grease soaked to-go bag, they let me know they're out of chili. Instead of a refund I opt for a double order of regular fries. When I get home I go for the fries and it's a giant, greasy, completely undercooked mound of potatoes that literally had to break apart because the center of the "mass" was barely cooked. Read moreFrom the moment I stopped by, I was greeted by a very kind young man. I ordered sweet potato fries, a cheeseburger, and a root beer float. The fries are not soggy, they are so crispy, and perfectly seasoned. The burger was juicy and flavorful. Together it came out to less than 18.00 not including the tip.
It seems like you can also eat inside, looks like there's a drive thru as well along with a side window for others who dont want to go into the building. There is also one large picnic table that people can eat on if they chose to dine-in.
They wrap the burgers in what seems like replicas of paper with images of old newspaper 🗞️ reports which makes it more interesting to see what the timely news was...
