Excellent hotel/condo on the shore of South Lake Tahoe. This is exactly the kind of place you would want to stay at for a relaxing vacation in Tahoe, especially with a family. Our room was clean and in decent condition. It was a lower level room directly at the water's edge. From the sliding glass door there was 15 feet of patio, then a railing, gate, and a small stairway down to the water. You can't get closer to the lake! We loved the kitchen and sofa. The table was great for projects and homework. Especially nice we're the private Wi-Fi and the video library in the office. It was great to relax on the sofa with a movie with our leftovers from dinner in the fridge. The only downside was the lack of hot water on our final morning (I think they have a small water heater). The location is midway between stateline and the western edge of the city, which implies a lot of driving, but parking is easy and they are only a few feet from highway 50. The park next door was nice for small strolls. Something to keep in mind is that Beachcomber is more of a condo place than a hotel. This means no daily maid service and guests have some obligations, like running the dishwasher. They provide a thorough guest booklet explaining everything. Super easy. I also loved the combination lock doors. So much easier than fussing with keys, and everyone can just memorize the code instead of having extra keys. I would definitely stay here again. We loved the view and comfort. And the staff was super helpful and friendly. We didn't stay long enough to make use of the game room, but it looked like fun.

This is a funky older place right on the lake. The location could not be better. While the complex suffers from some deferred maintenance, we enjoyed our unit which allowed us to step off our lanai/ patio right onto a small beach and into the lake. The lanai/ patio is large and great for people and sunset watching. The units have full kitchens and plenty of BBQs for guests to use. Right next door is a nice park where you can rent water toys like kayaks, SUPs, and the like. Overall great little place near downtown South Lake Tahoe.

Great lakeside resort. I had read previous reviews about unit W and how people were displeased with the lack of a balcony and lake view. I have to disagree. We found a discounted rate and actually expected to get that room because of it. The room was clean and spacious and because most of the other units have balconies, we had the deck downstairs to ourselves to watch the sunset and have a cocktail. It was delightful. The location is great as well. Far enough from the casinos to actually enjoy the lake.

The Beachcomber Inn is like a book: the cover may not be very pretty, but it's what's inside that matters. I came here after Thanksgiving to visit Tahoe for the first time, and I am very pleasantly surprised. The outside of the buildings look a little old, like a 70s motel, but the insides are very nice. There's dedicated WiFi in every room, the appliances are fairly new, and the rooms are far more spacious than I would have expected. A stone's throw (literally) from Lake Tahoe, the view out the windows is beautiful. Best of all, you're only 5 minutes away from anything you may need, from food and dining to casinos to shopping centers. The inn is located in a very quiet section, the only noise at night is from whatever you may be doing at the time. I would strongly recommend it over...

I got one of the large rooms for a family trip and it was very spacious, has a well setup full kitchen and provides plenty of cookware, also don't be afraid of using the futon bed, as it's an air mattress that works in a futon and was quite comfortable!. It's well located (~5 min from heavenly village), and right near the water. There is a small private beach and pier on the water as well as an outdoor pool and hot tub (seasonal) and an indoor hot tub and dry sauna, workout room, they have DVD borrowing and a nice community lounge area. They do ask you to go to their timeshare presentation but they did accept a no thank you and didn't bug us again about it. Would definitely recommend, and probably...
