This is a great venue for hockey and ice rink activities. This place is small and seating is great, although the benches aren't super comfortable so I would recommend bringing a pad to sit on. There are tables and chairs for additional seating options but you don't get as good of view. You can however stand behind the goals on either end, which is a nice vantage point for watching shots on goal. The bathrooms are nice and clean, with enough stalls to limit long lines. Parking is easy and there are ample spaces. The one downside to this venue is the service you get at the food and beverage counter. The kids working the counter were horrible at their jobs and were nearly useless when they were asked information about the food offerings and drinks. They couldn't bother to check their inventory for guests or provide adequate responses. The food offerings are limited and sub-par, but that is to be expected at a small sports venue like the Tahoe Ice Arena. Pizza, pretzels, tater tots and a few other things grace the small menu here. There was Modelo, Cutwaters, High Noon, and one other beer option in regards to alcohol. I didn't experience any security at my last visit and the ticketing staff was very kind and welcoming. It is absolutely possible to bring in your own food and alcohol so as to enjoy the venue as best you can. I would have given this review 5 stars if the food and beverage counter wasn't such an embarrassment.

One of few NHL sized rinks left in the state. Great venue with without areas RapidShot trainer, food/beverages, and fun light up atmosphere. We came off season and our daughter was thrilled to be able to work on moves without a ton of people everywhere!

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! It said it was open for public session from 12pm to 5pm on April 12, 2025. When me and my family went at 3:20, the ice rink was infact closed, no one to be seen, a ghost town. Ruined me and my family’s day and wasted our time.

We had rented the ice-skating table area for a birthday party, while the kids had a great time ice-skating, so five stars for that, it was a horrid time at the table area. So we paid $130 for a non-private party, no plates, napkins, cups or silverware! When I asked the lady upfront what all comes with the package, because I was a little confused. She told me that they don’t provide anything and that she’s not sure what I’m expecting! I already had the kids on the rink. I didn’t wanna make a huge scene but I was upset at her nastiness and the fact that I paid that kind of money to literally just sit there, the kids had to eat cake with their hands! Plus if I would’ve been more prepared if they had let us know that nothing comes in the package. I think it was just the way I was spoken to on top of the price that was insane. I tried to call the manager, I did speak to a really nice lady name Lynell, but they refused to refund me the party space because they don’t provide anything and that was never an agreement. So I think ice-skating is great and the kids had a great time but I implore people do not rent the party area because they don’t explain anything to you and they take your money and then let you know that you’re on your own. So thanks so...

The South Lake Tahoe Ice Rink has been so great. We have brought our 14 year old daughter here to play hockey a couple dozen times over the past year from 150 miles away, and can't say enough good stuff about the rink's programs, events and operations staff. It's one big family here - a real asset for the community. If just watching these (rather skilled) young hockey players refine their skill isn't enough, pay particular attention to the smiles and comradery. Generally speaking, the rink is not impacted, so you'll find all sorts of skaters throughout the day, alternating between open free skate, private club practice, hockey tournaments, local school programs, etc. Off the ice, the facility is great because of the well stocked snack bar, TVs, WiFi, and warm viewing area. Kids are doing their homework on the snack tables as I write! In the summer time, we camp for a few days at a time at adjacent campground for a full scale vacation of hockey and lake side fun. Keep up the...
