We don’t usually stay in South Lake Tahoe but this place had an amazing hot tub that we wanted to tryout. We use the hot tub every night. We reserved the biggest room on the property, but I would not recommend this hotel until they get new management and new owners.
We booked the biggest suite they had, 2 month in advance. When we arrived, they told us that we didn’t have a reservation and when we showed our booking information and confirmation, they still couldn’t find anything and only after we rebooked our stay and cancelled our original reservation, were we allowed to stay. Mind you, we just traveled for 3hrs. The front desk employees were very rude and disrespectful. When we finally got checked in (1hr after arriving), we were told that there wasn’t enough staff, so we had to go “a few” days between room cleanings, no exceptions!!! (mind you we were in a one bedroom suite, which cost a lot more than any of the other rooms) but on this vacation, I made my own bed. We went to the local store to pick up a mattress topper because the bed was very uncomfortable. They did bring up some sheets so that we could put over the couches because they were filthy.
At the hot tub the second night, we left as the pool person was closing the hot tub down and locking it up. When we got to the room (about a 3min walk) we noticed we left some of our valuable sentimental items down by the hot tub, so I ran back down, but all I could find was some of our stuff discarded in the gym garbage can and everything else was missing. When we question the staff about them they said they did not find them yet. We saw some of our content dumped into the garbage can not even five minutes after we left, so we know somebody from the hotel had them as no guess were at the hot tub or the gym or even walking around when we left. We would love to come back to this place, but not until the hotel management and personnel are replaced. Like I said they had an...
Read moreClean, overpriced, new-ish rooms & a hot tub, and that's all there is to say about Hotel Azure - with Covid regulations & stay at home orders, much else is immaterial, i.e. most amenities closed, no daily room service, management didn't/can't really be of any help - nothing that'd warrant a premium price tag.
Note, the location is on the opposite side of the road, so not lakefront exactly. So there's only a few rooms with 'lake views', if you don't mind the road, car traffic & esp. if you're not in any rooms on level 3.
We stayed here for 4 nights & even paid for an upgrade for a 'lake view' room. however this was behind in the property(much farther away from the lake) & on level 2 (out of 3 levels). So yes, somewhat visible lake view but not exactly what one would picture in mind & certainly not worth dropping $300+ per night on a nice but ordinary hotel room.
To add, the guests in the room upstairs were noisy with thumping noises, every single night, nearly times around 10pm - probably had kids or pets running around. After 2 nights we even asked if they could move us given we were staying for 2 more nights & paid quite a lot for the room. The management said they were full given it was new year's eve time. So understandable sure, but not ideal for us. we were told to 'complain' if it happened again so their security (a big guy, as they said) could go & have the guests stop. We didn't want to spoil anyone's vacation - we wouldn't have liked it if it happened to us. That said, the noises continued for the remainder two nights.
They did have a hot tub, which was nice & we used once during our 4 night stay. Other than that there's really not much to say.
So overall, our stay was average, comfortable but not a pleasant, memorable Lake Tahoe experience.
Next time we'll go to the beach front hotel across the street, they have good reviews & charge a lot less!! It's ok, will...
Read moreExcellent location, beach access is across the street, 3 restaurants within 2 minutes walking distance, close to Emerald Bay, Inspiration Point, Heavenly. One beach access stairs right in front of hotel. The rooms are newly remodeled. Even the stairs has design. Mattress is very comfortable. my double queen room is spacious except the bathroom. Room is very clean. Staffs are friendly. However there are still some downsides. The WiFi is very bad, low bandwidth and unstable in many areas (very strong around office) for both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz WiFi connection. The hotel should ask their IT to set each WiFi router to different fixed channels (both 2.4 and 5 GHz contain many channels to be used) instead of using default auto channel mode and end up all use SAME channel and interfere one another to have low and unstable WiFi connection. Hope hotel can view my review and take action. The settings will improve their terrible WiFi without putting money. There are two buildings in Azure. One is pretty close to very busy street, Lake Tahoe Blvd. My lake view double queen room 302 is in this building. The lake view is unbeatable fantastic but the street noise is unbelievable loud. The good thing is the noise is down 97% after closing sliding door. But the balcony with great lake view is useless. Another thing is coffee maker not working which is replaced once I report it. The heater fan is loud. So I only use it for 10 minutes and turn it off. Fortunately the room insulation is superb. The room is above 72 all day even it's 45 to 52 every night (stay 4 nights). The hot tub is wonderful in cold weather but some guest put bubble bath solution in it. The upper tub is full of bubbles for two days.
Overall this hotel has very high value in South lake Tahoe. It will be my choice if I stay in south lake Tahoe again. As for noise, most hotels are along busy lake Tahoe Blvd and hence has same...
