I’m only giving this place two stars because they have SOME unique or interesting items. However, the owner seems to think that all of the things in his store are treasures despite half of it being pulled from literal dumpsters. I understand having a higher appraisal value of your goods is necessary for maintaining a business but not even Scrooge would sell this stuff for these prices in good faith. It made no sense that everything was “on sale” in the store, and even less so that he would lie about it to every customer that came in. I came in looking for records. I admit that they had a clean and solid variety of albums and singles that they took the time to pick out; I could tell. When asking them for the general price he told me “$15 and up”. I was surprised since a lot of albums were those “thrift store standards”, the neglected ones that you find at every thrift store. It didn’t make sense that these were ALL $15 at least. He wanted $15 for a coverless album, just the paper sleeve. The final straw was when I handed him a warped copy of The Game by Queen. He looks it over and says “$65”. I walked out at that point and wished him a good day. Don’t even bother with this place guys, go to Keynote Used Records and Book instead. At least the prices...
Read moreThis is the second time that I’ve come into this Lakeview thrift store looking for jewelry. Today the owner told me that there is a sale and discounts and the ring I was interested in would be discounted from $38 to $30. Ok! So, I continue to look for an additional ring and brought it up to the counter. Then the owner told me that the first ring had been “mismarked” and the price would be higher. I told him that he should honor the price he gave me, but he refused, saying if it had diamonds, then it was worth more. I asked him why he didn’t do his due diligence before marking the ring with the $38 price label and then offering a discount - -that wasn’t right and i was sure i wouldn’t be able to afford his higher price. When I pulled out my credit card to pay for the 2nd ring, he then informed me he was only accepting cash. I said ok and left since i hadn’t brought any cash. I didn’t see a “cash only” sign on the counter or the door. Very...
Read moreI’ve always made it a point to check out and buy wonderful treasures at thrift stores wherever my travels takes me. We were in South Lake Tahoe October 2019 and had purchased a few small items at a couple of the thrift stores before checking out Lakeview Thrift Store off Fremont Avenue. As I entered the owner informed me that there was discount throughout the store - anywhere from $3, $5, and even $30 off depending on the item. Obviously that put a smile on my face, however it only took a couple of minutes to see that everything in the store was over priced compared to local competitors. Looks like he jacks up the price, so that if a discount applies, it still gives him quite a profit because the discounted price is still pricey. If you don’t mind paying ridiculously high prices for thrift store items, then this...
