I have waited more than two weeks for the resort to reach out and send a feedback survey so that I could quietly address the many concerns we experienced during our stay. I do not like publicly posting negative reviews, but it seems the resort has no interest in requesting feedback from guests for the sake of improvement, so I shall post my experience here. I was very excited to stay at this resort. The online photos and description of the property were exactly what I was looking forward to. Upon arrival, we checked in with a very nice, upbeat young man and received our room keys. Arriving in the room, all excitement drained from my body. The "suite" was two formerly adjoining rooms pieced together with a piece of plywood as a makeshift threshold, causing quite the trip hazard and creating a very displeasing esthetic. It was disjointed at best, appearing as though an upgrade was in progress, but funding fell through and they threw their arms up and said 'meh, this will do'. The entry door didn't even fit in the frame, and had been chiseled away at in an attempt to make it fit. The wall had literal holes in it from the lock being drug through it from guests, leaving sheet rock sprinkling onto the floor every time the door opened or closed. The refrigerator was falling out of its enclosure in the living room area onto the floor below, so we were afraid to attempt to use it. The AC repeatedly faulted out in the main bedroom as it required a filter change and would come to an abrupt, loud stop throughout the stay forcing us to reset it. The fireplace was broken. The seal on the shower was an 1/8" too short, causing the bathroom to completely flood when used. The shower was filled with black hairs on the walls, floor, and door. This is not my hair color. The view was completely blocked by the large tent put up for a wedding, which wouldn't have been a problem had the resort not upcharged for a view that could not be enjoyed from our room. The ice maker was broken, with a sign that said to see the front desk, but when we did that the young lady yelled at us and said "there is nothing wrong with it, it's just been used too much!" The entirety of the stay the ice maker had no evidence of any water, let alone ice. We tried it every time we walked by. Same young lady rolled her eyes, sighed and threw attitude at us when we asked where the pool towels were kept, as if we were inconveniencing her despite no one being in the lobby. When booking, I had to acknowledge that all guests were over the age of 21 and no children allowed, which was a strong selling point for me, as this was meant to be a relaxing child-free weekend. Unfortunately, we were surrounded by children and teens screaming in the pool and spa area all weekend long, which kept us from enjoying much of the outdoor area. After being run out by unruly teens in the spa the first night, we headed in to get a drink from the bar. Boy was that an experience. The bartender that evening was unable to identify the bottle of Buffalo Trace, so we pointed it out to her. She then struggled to figure out how to open the bottle. We had to tell her how to open it from the tab-style seal. By the time we walked her through finding and opening the bottle she had forgotten what we ordered...which was just two Buffalo Trace on the rocks. That being said, the bar did redeem itself a bit the next day when we met Eric. He is the epitome of what you'd expect from a Tahoe bartender. I cannot say enough about how great he made our second visit. He is fun, enjoys what he does, and we had a ton of laughs with him, which was a nice change considering the experiences we previously had up until this point. We even went back the following morning just so we could grab a drink from him one more time before checking out. He did not disappoint then either, despite a very heavy breakfast crowd, he was still upbeat and trying his best to give everyone a great experience. The resort is filled with potential, but a distinct lack of care. It was less than welcoming and we left very disappointed...
Read moreIn my opinion, this property has one thing going for it, location. And boy howdy are they resting hard on that laurel.||||I judge heavily on service, and the service was appalling. So much so that after our stay I sent a personal email to Jordan Worthington, the Assistant General Manager on the 6th of August, and have YET to receive a reaction or acknowledgement to my email. This, imho is unacceptable for a business which is strictly, in the business of providing service.||||My recommendation would be…stay elsewhere and use the beach instead. As the entire beach in front of the resort is open to the public.||||When booking, we requested rooms near each other, bc we were traveling with my 86 yr old mother in law.||||Not only were the rooms not close, they were in entirely different buildings and levels. One in A building, third floor with a lovely view of CVS parking lot. The other, rm B112, ground floor. Which was a nicely located room and had a partial lake view.||||When my husband attempted to discuss the situation with the young man working the evening of Aug 3rd, he made ZERO attempt to come with anything resembling a solution. When we asked why the hotel made no effort to inform us…Instead, he gave us a 'down the nose spiel' about us having booked via a third party site (booking.com). I cannot take such a statement seriously, who on earth always books direct with a property? I’m old enough to have used third party travel agents, so I see zero difference between that and a third party website, it’s 2024.||||Service at the front desk, appalling, with the exception of one individual, whose name is, Kiana, who was both helpful and friendly. The rest seemed, put out or disinterested in being of any assistance. The young man I mentioned earlier, couldn’t even be bothered to put his feet down whist being unable to answer basic questions about the laundry service. Which was odd as the following morning, Kiana was able to pleasantly and easily answer ALL my questions. Seems to be a management issue with regards to training employees.||||Expect old, poorly insulated, dirty rooms. You can literally, hear people walking normally. And I absolutely do not fault the housekeeping staff, regarding the filth. This is owner/ management responsibility. ||||The rooms require a deep cleaning and construction work that housekeeping (who likely are on a tightly monitored/timed schedule), could never achieve. And had the service been friendly, the filth may have bothered me less. ||- shower cabin doors don’t fully close and leaked on the floor the cabins look like ones used in RV’s. I’m 5’6 / 150 and I felt cramped. ||- Downright mold on the ceiling and rusting fixtures. ||- Leaking mini fridge, I put a hand towel in front to absorb leaking water. ||- Poorly insulated ceilings and walls (howdy neighbor) ||- Filthy windowsill and around TV ||||The question I put forward to Jordon Worthington was, where are the profits going? Because, there seems to be very little investment in the actual property or staff hiring. As someone with a service background, all I can say is, good golly.||||Also, the water machine in lobby did not function and the coffee was poor quality and you had to pay for it 🤦♀️. This was the ONLY property on our three week road trip which charged for coffee...
Read moreThe Worst Hotel Experience of My Life - Avoid Beach Retreat Resort!||||I recently stayed at the Beach Retreat Resort in Lake Tahoe, and I can honestly say it was one of the most appalling experiences I've ever had. From the moment we opened the door to our unit, we were hit with a foul odor that made our skin crawl. The room was filthy, with a dirty toilet, an air filter lying on the floor, and a dangerously protruding TV that nearly caused me to injure myself in the dark.||||As if that weren’t bad enough, when it was time for bed, we discovered bed bugs crawling in our sheets! We were horrified, and immediately called the front desk to request a refund and leave. Instead of addressing our concerns, the staff offered us another room without guaranteeing it would be any cleaner. When we insisted on a refund, we were told the manager wouldn’t be available until the morning. It’s shocking that a hotel of this size doesn’t have a night manager to handle urgent issues like this!||||The next day, we tried to reach the manager, Jordan, but he was elusive and difficult to get a hold of. By this point, it was my birthday, and I was left feeling sick and stressed after having to leave at 2 AM. After numerous calls, I finally reached Jordan, who claimed he had no idea about the bed bugs and hadn’t received our voicemails. His lack of professionalism was astonishing; we didn’t need excuses, we needed a refund!||||Jordan promised to send an invoice for our refund, which we never received. Instead, we were charged again after supposedly checking out. When we went back to the resort, we spoke with two employees who were sympathetic but powerless to help. I eventually left a voicemail for Dan, the district manager, but he never returned my call.||||After a week of frustration, I managed to speak to Jordan, who finally apologized and let me know he did see bugs in our beds with Dan at his side. He was very professional today and I thank him for that. He also sent me the EcoLab report which does state there were no bed bugs found, just food and trash behind the beds. I have reached out to EcoLab as well to inquire about their summary and to provide photos of what we encountered. ||||I was also finally able to get ahold of Dan Evans, who shockingly accused me of lying and trying to extort money from the resort! He dismissed my claims and even suggested that I had brought the bed bugs into the building myself. I have photo proof of the bed bugs, which he refused to acknowledge, claiming it was from the internet. He then had the audacity to say I could post a review, as he would simply have it taken down. He then proceeded to forward my call to the front desk while I was still talking with him. ||||I’ve never encountered such unprofessionalism in my life. Why would anyone leave their hotel at 2 AM on their birthday if there wasn’t a serious issue? The treatment I received was appalling, and I’m left feeling violated and insulted.||||In summary, I would never recommend Beach Retreat Resort to anyone. It’s a filthy, mismanaged establishment that doesn’t deserve your business. Avoid this place at all costs unless you want to risk your...
