My clients just closed on their house and we are in the process of finding another home for them to buy. Since they are currently in limbo, they reserved a room at WoodSpring Suites because of location and affordability since they are trying to find a home to buy and our current market isn't the easiest. As their Realtor and friend, I went with them to help get settled into their temporary abode, and as most of y'all know moving day is always a bit chaotic. We arrived at WoodSpring Suites around sunset after a very long month of packing up their home and getting everything into storage, needless to say, both were totally exhausted and just wanted to get settled into a nice comfortable room so they could rejuvenate to continue their house hunting journey.
As we walked into the hallway-lobby (yes the hallway is their lobby), there was this faint scent that can only be described as "unwashed human" and you feel you are walking into a Maximum Security Facility as the lady behind the glass-enclosed counter was not friendly nor inviting to her new residents. She spoke to my clients as if they were inmates about to serve some hard time in the pokey, we should have realized this was our foreshadowing moment. As soon as the "Warden" checked them into the facility, we then proceeded to walk through the now unlocked steel door, which allowed entrance to the rest of the building. Oh, and before I forget, the Warden didn't know where their ONE AND ONLY luggage cart was located.
As our party of three walked towards the elevator, the smell of "unwashed human" seemed to only get stronger. The rest of my senses started to also notice the grime and filth on the very low-grade finishes that made this newer building. It was obvious my clients were feeling the same dread. Suddenly, the heaviness of this dank depressing atmosphere finally engulfed the three of us as we stepped into the elevator to head to the 4th floor. Stepping off of the elevator, I was hoping that their room would be a wonderful space as this occasion was supposed to be a happy and refreshing pause in their adventure. However, I could only smell the ever-increasing overbearing stench of "unwashed human" as the walls felt as if they were closing in on us. As we entered their tiny "cell" we could only notice how stark, baren and unsanitary the space was kept. This place didn't even have a closet for your clothing just a couple of bare rods attached to the wall. The bed appeared to be a lumpy broken-down mattress of questionable origin and the kitchen area was absolutely gross. To top it all off, there were no living room chairs to be found for...
Read moreUpdate #1. mgmt responded and it seems sincere. I do anticipate changes. Typically given concerns mgmt would (should ) address the issues. I believe they will. I will update again if needed.
Original post: Rooms okay. Has full fridge and 2 burner stove. No bugs in our room but some are infested. Make sure u check ur room b4 u pay to male sure urs isn't an infested one. I made sure to check mine ahead and almost canceled after reading reviews about the cockroaches. Mgr told me "those rooms are closed off and if you find any we will move you or refund you". I took the chance being it was cheap and I need cheap. So far no bugs and been here a week. However, beds are super uncomfortable and "blankets" are like sheets. More less a cot than a bed. Also AC not so cool. Noisy with all the huge pit bulls barking. My husband has a small service dog and my husband took him out for a walk. Coming back in, two men woth have pit bull and Doberman like dogs stood behind him waiting for elevator. Their dogs growled at my husband's service dog smaller shihtzu, so badly that my husband had to pick up hos dog and tightly hold him. Then the dummies tried to get in the elevator with them! My husband ended up telling them to go ahead he would wait. My husband recently had back surgery...part of his back is now metal. He had no business having to hold his dog and what I'd those dogs would have attacked!?!? This place caused a fuss about a small service dog but has numerous rooms with big breed dogs. A lot two dogs in each room! It seems like the only other dogs here ARE Big pit bull type. Wonder if something more is going on? There is no way those animals are in regulation for 36 inches length and height. As the pet deposit is non refundable 25 a day for 6 days and 10 a day thereafter I truly doubt they are even paying accordingly. We have a 7 yr old daughter also I swear if one of these big animals jump on her as she gets out of the elevator like one did me today there is going to be a suit. Will be here a few more weeks....
Read moreUpdate... my last review (Tina snarr) was not only noticed but acted on. The Manager here Richard truly cares about the place and will show empathy and professionalism when it comes to his job. My family has been here about 3 weeks now. It started out rough. Richard addressed every issue however and the place has been amazing. In 3 weeks we have not seen a single bug. When someone reports a bug they close off the room and take care of it. When I reserved this room I called ahead to cancel due to the all the reviews of bugs I had seen. However, I was assured that any room with the issue was closed off and being dealt with. If my room did have a problem I would be allowed to change. Not a single bug seen in 3 weeks! Never have had to change rooms. Richard has also put an end to the large dogs roaming and not being supervised. I have not seen anyone "hanging around" sus and I truly feel safe here. I have 3 kiddos with me and I can for sure say we are so happy we gave this place a chance. In reality any motel/hotel is going to have a bug problem. Especially an extended stay where people stay long term. The true reputation goes woth how it is dealt with and this place takes action. I would definitely recommend this place because altho u may very well experience an issue, which u will chance that anywhere, at any hotel/motel, ... Richard and the mgmt team WILL address it quickly and efficiently with empathy and professionalism. We are going to be here another month at least and possibly until August. I can honestly say I am not feeling a bit bad about that. Also....look up rates. Go to sites an find specials. Search for codes and discounts and reserve online. It is so much cheaper that at the up at the front desk. The difference is great! For instance, you can find a rate of 42$ per day online if you search the right places....or at the front desk will be anywhere from 80 to over 120 a night. 50-60%...
