In an area that has almost as many mexican restaurants as cows, Azul Tequila stands out from the rest. There are so many fantastic reasons why I love it, and I know that once you try it, it will become one of your favorites too. First, the restaurant is brand-spankin' new and the two-story pink outside helps you easily find it right off the highway. The inside is beautiful. Tall ceilings, bright and airy feeling, colorful without being tacky, and there's TV's mounted for the sports fans but not too overwhelming for those of us not interested. There are plenty of servers roaming around that you can grab if needed. But each time I have gone, it was never needed as we were checked on by our server just the right amount of times. Also, each server has given us a very pleasant experience. To give one very specific example, a server went out of the way and above and beyond to save ourselves from ourselves. My daughter had ordered enchiladas with mole sauce. Her order barely left her lips when the server looked at her quizzically and asked her if she had ever tasted mole sauce before. When my daughter shook her head no, the server was off in a flash and returned with a small serving for to taste. Awesome call on her part because my daughter hated it. When she saw my daughter's expression, she couldn't stop laughing and when my daughter did order, the server spun her menu around, pointed to an item, and told her that the new item is what she should order. She did, and she loved it. Great call. Another one of my absolutely favorite things in a restaurant is when they do not nickel and dime you. At Azul Tequila, when we ask about substitutions (even gasp changing red sauce for cheese dip) the servers always responds with, "I can do that for you" and low and behold, you get the bill and there's not an extra charge. Love that. And that alone has brought us back time and again. But here's what you're really reading this review for: the food. The chips come to your table before you even ask. They're hot with a good "thickness" (not super thin) and are served with either hot/mild salsa. Their salsa, to me, is the best in town. Hands down. And the deliciousness just keeps knocking you over in the entrees. Our favorite is the burrito that is made with fajita filling. Phenomenal with all of that fajita juiciness. I have also ordered the chimichanga and it was yummy as well because the fajita burrito isn't on the lunch menu. OH, which relates back to what I previously wrote! When we went to lunch and tried to order the fajita burrito we noticed it wasn't on the lunch menu. Ugh, bummer. That burrito was one of the reasons we went there that day! So here we go, ordering something else, and we mentioned how much we loved the fajita burrito when the server said, "If you'd like, I can put fajita meat in your burrito instead of regular steak, chicken, or beef." "Would we like? Would WE like?! Um, YES we would like!" See, I'm a girl of my word, above and beyond. To recap, great building inside and out, fantastic staff, delicious food that is delivered quickly for those of us on our lunch break, and an overall lovely atmosphere make this the perfect restaurant to satiate all of those...
Read moreThe last time I visited this place was over a year ago, and the service was awful, so I have not returned since then. Well on 2/28/25 my friends wanted to have dinner there. Hoping the service from last time wasn't going to repeat, we gave it another try. Well when we arrived at 3:30, the restaurant was almost empty. We, the party of 7, were seated but never greeted by the host. To top it off our waitres, Hazel did not greated us either and was in a bad mood from the beginning. Her attitude towards us made the atmosphere very uncomfortable. She took our order without being polite, and she did not return to refill our drinks or even asked us if we needed anything. She acted like we were a hassle to her, when the restaurant was pretty much empty. We also asked her for plates and forks and she never brought them. We also asked her like 3 times to take our picture and she just walked away. We then had to ask other waiters passing by providing us with what we needed. One of my friends needed to leave early so she went to the front counter to pay and Hazel told her very rude to sit back down and that she would bring her the ticket. Well it took her almost 15min for her to bring her the ticket. By then, we had it. You don't tell a customer to sit back down. So we asked for the manager. Hazel then asked if everything was okay and said she would bring him. Well she never did bring him. But her attitude changed dramatically after that. We will probably not be returning after this. This place needs to work on their customer service, although we were trying to have a good time we just couldn't with this service. There are other great places out there with great Mexican food, drinks, and service that we will be visiting...
Read moreWe were served some sort of sauce and chips. The sauce was in the tiniest little cups...not nearly enough (2 oz). We had to ask for 4 more and still wasnt enough... it was more like enchilada sauce, not a salsa at all. I ordered a pina colada, it was flavorless. More like a slushy and no coconut flavor or alcohol. I asked my husband to try it to make sure it wasnt just me. He agreed. My husband got his food before I did (chimichanga dinner). It was a full 10 min before I got mine (forgot what it was called but basically 3 grilled chicken tacos with rice and beans) and that was after making eye contact with the waitress and her doing a 180 back to the kitchen. Waitress didn't write the order down, went off memory. I had asked for no Pico and she misunderstood and thought I said no beans. Food was good, not great. She did ask if we wanted dessert (which I originally wanted a slice of tres leche cake)but my husband was ready to go and after waiting for my food I was too. The ambiance and atmosphere was pleasant/cheerful. It was clean and nicely decorated. We might return to try the Chile rellenos, but at a less busy time. It was a Friday evening around 6 and no parking. Many were parking on the side of the service road. It wasn't a flop, just a bit unpleasant with watching my husband eat his food and then him having to watch me. Lol. We also did not get a discount for the mess ups. That's on the waitress. She should have recognized the issue and offered a discount or a free dessert.. or at least an apology. Like I said.. not a flop and might return because No One serves fried Chile rellenos anymore and she assured us...
