My daughter and I checked in to the Super 8 hotel at 1330 S Dirksen Pkwy, Springfield, IL. We noticed the lobby was dirty and outdated but thought we would give the place the benefit of the doubt. The elevator though smelled horrendous and resembled old beer and cigarettes. The room then did not fair much better. We immediately noticed a large stain on the comforter and floor between the two beds. Within minutes we called downstairs and asked for housekeeping to bring up a new comforter, additional pillows, and alerted the front desk of the cleanliness of the room as well as our disappointment. The front desk attendant told us there was no one from housekeeping there and we would need to go to the front desk for additional pillows never addressing the comforter issue. We then started to look around and found a horrifically kept up room which included a bobby pin, pop cycle sticks, and potato chips under the bed. We then lifted the bed skirt up more and found the boxsprings where covered in what looked like dog urine. This was present on both beds as well, one worse than the other. We then stripped the sheets and found A LOT of various blood stains of which one looked very fresh. Needless to say it was something I did not want my daughter or I to sleep on. Our journey then took us in to the washroom where we found mold caked in the shower stall. I immediately called Wyndham Customer Service and was on hold for nearly 20 minutes before hanging up to try and reach my bank before they closed. After a call to my bank I called Wyndham Support back and waited an additional 15 minutes before speaking to someone who was only able to help me secure a new reservation at another hotel but could not help get my money back for this debacle of a room. The rep also told me that I would need to file a complaint either online or over the phone. This is the point of my letter today. We then grabbed our bags and headed downstairs to complain in person to the front desk when we were told that we would not be getting our money back because we were upstairs longer than 15 minutes. I could not believe what we were hearing, that they were unwilling to delete the charge because it took us more than 15 minutes to notice the blood, urine, and mold covered hotel room that we were renting for the evening. They did offer us a new room but at this point I just wanted out of the building and immediately left and will never set foot in there again.

The MOST disgusting and seedy hotel I have ever stayed in. I travel a lot for my job. My company booked this hotel for 10 nights and it was the worst experience I have ever had in a hotel. When I saw my company booked a super 8, my expectations were low. However, this location exceeded my low expectations. 1. Check-in was terrible. They claimed not to have my name under a reservation. That proved to be false. 2. They called my room at 12:30 am my first night to tell me my card declined, and they needed me to bring another credit card to the lobby. This is suspicious for two reasons A. I am a young female, seemingly traveling alone. B. My colleague, who is a 50 year old man, checked in under the same credit card the same day, and no one called his room. 3. It is the most unhygienic, disgusting hotel I've ever seen. The entire floor is covered by a hellish assortment of gunk and specks of filth. Every single surface has a film on it and is splattered with what can only be old food and bodily fluids. Expecting it to be a nasty hotel, I brought my own sheets and blankets, which is fortunate because every sheet had several stains, and every comforter had cigarette burns. The BathTub did not drain properly when I showered. I was too scared to even look at what could be clogging it. 4. This hotel smells like an entire retirement home worth of people who smoked 2 packs a day died, and then a petting zoo came through to eat the bodies. I can not go into detail about how disgusting this location is. 5. This hotel is EXTREMELY overpriced. It's not worth $10/room. They give no discount for extended stays refer to my photos, It is absolutely horrific this is the room they gave to someone paying over $1200 dollars. Do not stay here if you value your hygiene and dignity as a person. Staying here is the equivalent of staying in a county fair porta-potty.

The shower was inoperable. We did not discover this until the morning. The coffee maker had no glass pot and all the available coffee was decaf. There where roaches we had to search our luggage to ensure we we're not bringing any home with us. The TV malfunctioned so much we gave up on it. After drawing the curtains in the morning there was sufficient light to see that the room overall was filthy. Upon notifing the manager/person behind the desk, he became rude and dismissive. He said to me in regards to the shower that I should have notified him when I woke up. As if I had time to switch rooms in the morning with a schedule I had to keep. He asked me what room number was it. I replied; 417. He then informed me that according their system that room should have never been occupied. His qoute was, "That room is blocked from renting" I asked for a full or partial refund for my inconvenience and overall disgust for the lack of professional services. Especially since the carry the corporate Super 8 logo and I assume are affiliated with. After showing him all the pictures I had taken of the room, the inoperable shower, the dead cockroaches, the non existent coffee pot with nothing but decaf and the filth, he offered me a refund of $10 on a total bill for one night stay of $72. I was appalled and this insulting offer. Needless to say I will never again in my life visit this particular hotel or any other with the super 8 logo. Pictures and audio of our conversation are in my possession.

I am only giving this one star so I can review this business. This was the worst experience of my life. I booked through a website at my work which did not have many reviews but all of them seemed to be okay. I should have checked other websites but it was a quick trip. I was booked to stay there three nights. I am a 21 year old female and I was traveling by myself so I was trying to stay in a safe place. The pictures of the rooms on the internet made them look like big rooms and clean. That was so far from the truth. I arrived at the hotel and there was only six cars in the parking lot and a strange man sitting out of the back of the building by a trash can. This should have been my first clue this wasnt the nicest place. I parked and went inside and the man at the desk was very nice. He told me about breakfast and gave me my room key. I went to my room which was supposed to be non smoking. I opened the door and the smell was horrible but I thought maybe it would go away. Anywhere I go I always take the bed apart and check for bed bugs. I thankfully did not find any but what I did find was horrendous. The comforter had holes and burn Mark's in it where someone had put out some type of cigarette. I pulled that back and the sheets had burn Mark's and I pulled those back and the mattress cover had a BLOOD STAIN that was a pretty good size. Clearly room service did not care what was going on the bed. I continued checking and the bed skirt had some type of black scum on it and also some type of white snot or something smeared down the side. At this point I horrified but I gave the hotel the benefit of the doubt and asked for a new room because I thought I may have accidentally been put in a smoking room. I wearily went to the next room and checked the bed. I immediately found burn holes, stains, patches in the wall, and crum on the baseboards and toilet area. There was no way I was staying here alone because now after reading other reviews about drug needles being found in rooms and people living at the hotel I no longer felt safe. I was in an unfamiliar area in the WORST hotel I've ever been in. Thankfully during this time I had called my dad and he got me to a much safer and cleaner hotel. I went to the front desk and explained to the man the room smelled and it was dirty. He didnt seem to be startled by what I was saying at all. I asked for my money back which he couldn't give me. I even said I would pay for the first night if I could get the other nights refunded and I was told I needed to call where I booked through. I didnt even care about this at the time. I did feel like maybe I was getting the run around since I was a young female traveling by myself but I just wanted out of there. I contacted tickets at work and the woman on the phone empathized with me about how horrible my short stay there was and she said I would most likely get a refund if the hotel would agree to refund my stay. I got an email today and no refund which means the hotel didnt agree. I am now out money for a place I didnt even stay, a place that was one of the nastiest places I've ever seen, a place that is literally a health hazard. I would not wish to send my worst enemy here. I just want to warn others so they do not lose money like I did and not get the run around from the hotel industry. This hotel has no right to take this money from me because I did not use there services. Please spread the word and do NOT...

Y'all let's take a moment to think about what you'd like your ideal hotel room to look like upon checking in. I don't stay in hotels much but I expect them to be in clean and up to code. This hotel needed to shut down for a month to remodel then invite the public back in. Upon checking in they were doing maitence to the A/C at the front door outside. So that wouldn't of bothered me but then they had rolls of carpet laying also outside of the front door, when there was a perfectly good large dumpster in the back parking lot. Anyways I moved past that and the thick accent and checked in. I then had to leave to get to an event on time but later that night I return with my fiance and let's just say he loved the look on my face upon opening the third floor door to the hallway. The stairwell on the North end smelled like brand new carpet, once entering the hall on the 3rd floor hello weed central. So much hooting and hollering while I hung out with my fiancee it was insane. I tried to take a nap but Lord they wouldn't be quiet. They'd walk past our door loud as hell!

Anyways, the bathroom, oh Lord this bathroom needed updates and a good scrub! The door handle didn't even properly fit the hole in the door. The facets and shower head had a heavy amount of calicum build up and the shower curtains needed a good bleach. The weather stripping on the bottom of the wall needed replaced as it was coming off the wall. The main sink was fine. The mini fridge needed a good wipe down as there was a solid layer of dust on the top. Microwave could of used a good scrub too! Now for the bed. Oh Lord the bed. As I went to lay down to nap I noticed on the white sheets random little almost orange marks, unsure what the hell they were from. Not sure if it was hard water or what, so I laid a towel down and laid down. The bed also only had 3 pillows. Yes the room only had one bed but damn i would of thought they'd give and even amount of pillows at least.

Needless to say next time we'll splurge a little and upgrade to a better hotel. Everything else in...
