Shadow Run Condominiums — Local services in Four Corners States

This unit is very small and cramped. In my opinion is does not sleep 6 as advertised. There is one room that barely holds a queen bed (about a foot or so on either side. The door to the room barely clears the bed and it is difficult to walk around it. The other room has a bunk bed with trundle for 3 more people. I guess the 6th could be on the sofa but it is so broken down in spots (sinks when you sit) that it would be terribly uncomfortable). There is also no way to accommodate 6 people in the living spaces. Dining table and chairs are inadequate. 3 people could sit on living room sofa and there is one other chair. All furnishings are shabby. There is a nightstand with 2 small drawers in each bedroom but no other dressers or bureau space. There are drawers in the closet in the room with the queen bed, but they were difficult to access given the sliding panel doors. I used a luggage rack in the closet and a shelf for my clothes. My husband set up a luggage rack in a corner of the room and dealt with his clothes in his suitcase, but this meant he had to maneuver to get into and out of bed, the room is so small. Both bathrooms are very small with no counter space for toiletries. A large person would have trouble turning around in the shower in the 3/4 bath. The kitchen is well equipped, but there is little counter space to hold groceries. Either there is no ski storage in building or it was not communicated to us so we used the tiny close off the dining space to store our skis. There are no hooks for coats so they got slung over the dining chairs. Our boots filled the space between the door and the dining table so that we had to kick ski boots out of the way to pull a chair out and sit down. There were only 3 in our group so I can just imagine how much would pile up if there were more. Poor cleanliness of unit. There was an old pizza box left by previous renters and when I looked under the bed to make sure nothing was left under I found a nasty thick layer of dirt and dust with q-tips and other detritus. On the plus side:||• The management was responsive and there to please.|• The interior paint job was nicely done and the exterior was in decent shape, if dated.|• The Internet was fine for streaming movies.|• The towels and sheets were nice, and the king bed was reasonably comfortable.|• The neighbors were nice.|• The small pool and hot tub were fine.|||On the con side:||• The condo faced a busy street. Motorcycles and heavy trucks using air brakes were often quite loud.|• The decor was showing its age: There were ‘boils’ in the varnish on some of the table tops. One side table leg was falling off. One rugs was badly frayed and a tripping hazard. The wall clock was dead.|• The unit was on the 3rd floor with a long walkway to the parking area, so inconvenient for older people with a lot of luggage, etc..|• The utensils were cheap and spotty, especially too few spoons. Mismatched Tupperware.|• The lighting was okay but kinda dark overall.|• There was no king-sized comforter.|• The screen door to patio would not snugly shut.|• The master toilet ran periodically and the master shower was cramped.|• 3 of 5 pool lounge chairs were ripped.|• The property gas grill that I tried was filthy. It had gas and a working starter, but I couldn’t get it to light.||Overall: |We have rented other condos in Steamboat that were far better values...
