BEWARE, I made a reservation for a three night stay at this hotel. After working an exhausting 12 hour shift, I arrived to find out they overbooked themselves. I was offered a discount (still at a significant rate though) for some sort of suite that had a pull out sofa bed. I was told that if I didn't accept these accommodations I would have to find some place else to stay. I was worried I would not be able to find anything else that late in the evening so I accepted. I was already late getting out of work and had dinner ordered to be delivered at the hotel in which I had confirmed reservations. I had to be up early the next day and just couldn't be up late trying to figure things out. I cannot believe I was even charged for what I experienced. The suite was some sort of conference room with a small couch that pulled out to an extremely uncomfortable bed. The man who checked me in suggested that I put the sofa pillows underneath the mattress, so in hindsight, he was very aware of how uncomfortable the bed was going to be. I'm not a spring chicken and I do have back issues which I expressed concern about when checking in. I also was going to be working four 12 hour shifts in a row, so getting restorative rest was imperative to being able to function properly and staying healthy. To top the evening off, after showering and getting into my PJs, THERE WERE NO LINENS for the bed, thankfully there was a sheet on the mattress and a pillow. I called the front desk to let them know I needed some sheets and a blanket and was told to come downstairs to get some. I only travel with scrubs and PJs, which I was already in, and again, I was completely physically and emotionally exhausted, so I slept in my jacket. This was a totally unacceptable experience for any charge, I checked out the next morning and told them I wasn't coming back for the next two nights. I made reservations at the Courtyard Marriott for the next two nights. I should have stayed there in the first place. I tried this Hilton before and was totally unimpressed, but the price was right, so I booked my stay there against my better judgment. FYI: The Marriott is the best place to stay in Stockton, followed by the University Plaza Waterfront Hotel. The Marriott has THE friendliest, fastest, most helpful, night time front desk clerk and the rooms are very comfortable. They have great parking and their location is quite and safe. I will never stay at this Hilton again, especially after finding out that there were EIGHT!!! (you read that correctly) other parties that had reservations the Hilton couldn't accommodate due to overbooking, so they "walked them over," meaning they arranged and paid for alternate accommodations, to the Marriott!!! I was not even given this choice. This Hilton's business practices are totally unacceptable and I want everyone to know before making reservations because the last place you want to be is in Stockton without a place to stay, ESPECIALLY, after coming to the area to provide a service they are very much in need of even...
Read moreMy experience on 8/1; It was 1:40 am we arrived at the hilton hotel in Stockton,CA. I went to check in. The receptionist asked for my ID and Credit Card. Keep in mind I already paid for our reservation online. Immediately she says "I cant accept this card" I told her that's the card I used to pay for my reservation online. Her response "Regardless I can't accept it" She asked "Is he (my husband Clinton Tony Folden) here with you" I said "No, but I already paid with that card thru the internet" She proceeded to say "If he is not here I can't accept it" I said "I will pay cash" She said "We don't accept cash" I said "I have my family in the car, what am I suppose to do. I'll pay cash" Receptionist "I told you we don't accept cash" I said "You are a high end hotel, how can you not except cash" Receptionist "Well I told you we don't" I was so upset I was walking out without my ID. All I could think of is where are we going to stay it's 1:40 am. I started crying telling my girls we don't have a room we are going to have to stay at a rest stop. The receptionist and the security came out and stood by the doors. The security walking towards my car. Me thinking he is kicking us out of the parking lot because I said a bad word as I was walking out. I told him we are leaving. He asked if my last name was "Folden" I said "yes" with snot bubbles and crocadile tears. The receptionist asked me to come inside and she will check me in. I said you already said I can't pay with cash and I couldn't use the card. She said just come in. She found my reservation I made online through Hotels.com and already paid for. She tried to make it seem it was my fault she wasn't able to help me becsuse I walked out. My response was "You didnt try to help me. I told you I had already paid the reservation online" She acted like she was doing me a favor by checking me in and not charging me some type of fee. I don't recall. This is the second time I have been treated like this at 2 different hotels. The Hampton Inn in Lake Havasu, AZ and now this one hilton hotel in Stockton, CA. Is it because I am not a certain race, I have tattoos in both arms, I am not dressed to their standards and I wasn't wearing make up, my hair is in a bun...why?!?!?🤔🤨 Anyone who knows me I would never do anything to be treated like this.
I will never be staying at another hilton hotel....

Read moreWe stayed for 4 nights at this hotel. ||The positives:|1) Great check-in|2) Staff was friendly and very willing to assist. A couple of examples:|a) The printer was not working and the front desk person was not able to get it to get the printer to work either. She suggested e-mailing her the document and she would print for us (which she did).|b) The safe was not working (someone had locked the safe door with the door open). The maintenance person was not experienced with how the safe worked and did have to come back twice – but was very quick to respond and the front desk called to confirm that the issue was resolved.|3) The hotel is renovated with a somewhat modern feel. It is not luxurious but is comfortable. |4) Good/Convenient location||The Negatives:|1) The AC I the room was extremely loud. It was a ceiling ducted type system and not the wall mounted type. My husband and I have stayed in many hotels for work and vacation, and we agreed this was likely the loudest AC we have ever had in a room. Another guest at the hotel in our group actually mentioned that the AC was extremely loud in their room. We did call maintenance, no one showed up and after 6 hours we called again. Someone came – but basically asked if the AC was working, we said it was but the issue was how loud the AC was when it was running. He did not look at it and essentially said he did not know why the AC was so loud in some of the rooms. He said he would have to check what could be done – we asked if they would let us know and keep us updated, he confirmed “you want to be updated” – and we said yes. We never heard back (i.e. no follow up from maintenance or the anyone else at the hotel). |2) There are two elevators for guests. One of them really should be taken out of service and fixed. It was fine if you were going up – but sometimes when taking the elevator down the elevator it would miss the floor by several feet and then go back up (too far) and then inch/bounce down. Sometimes it would just bounce down. Another guest stated they had gotten stuck for 15 minutes in the elevator. Fortunately, the hotel is only 5 stories, so using the stairwells was a viable option for many people – but for the price of the hotel, we would...
