This was my 4th visit to the Clarion. I never expected anything fancy but I did expect to have a clean room free of roaches. Upon arriving to the room I noticed the table and chair had food particles on it. Didn’t think to much about and wiped the table and chair with my Lysol wipes. My husband pulls out the writing table and the first roach appeared. Killed it.. wasn’t happy but I would survive. Hubby goes to the bathroom and another roach was walking across the floor. Killed that one as well. Open the fridge and there were 3 dead roaches in it. Go to the front desk and DDavir said he had to take a picture of the fridge roaches. I told him I have pictures on my phone but he had to personally see for himself. Came to the room and took pictures and said he would send it to the general manager. He said he will send someone to clean the room but couldn’t say when. I told him I was going out and was not going to wait. Returned at 9:20 PM and a worker said he wanted to clean my room. I said no not at this time. Enter the room and there is a roach in the doorway and walking on the wall. Went to front desk and requested a room change. Room was changed and lo and behold a roach appeared. I told front desk I wanted compensation due to this roach issue is ruining my planned peace and quiet. Said he had to contact the general manager because he can’t make those decisions. Day of checkout I ask for my receipt. I think his name is Bunny. Folds the receipt and hands it to me folded. Did he think I wasn’t going to look at my receipt? Look at my receipt. At this point I was furious. I ask about the compensation. Again it is up to the general manager. Why wasn’t the general manager notified on the first day when the roach problem began? He fumbled with his words and said, “he will be back on the 11th - it’s only a few more days. I told him no the general manager should have been informed on day one and everyday after. He asked me to write what occurred and he would send it to the general manager. I wrote everything and gave it to him. When do I expect to hear back from the general manager? He couldn’t say because first the manager was on vacation, then he was on leave. I told him I expect to hear back. On my way home I see a missed call from Clarion. I called back and told them my name. Total silence. Hello why did you call me? Few seconds go by and he says “ compensation will be $80. I asked for his name he says “front desk”. What is front desk name? Speaks to someone in Indian and says Sam. If you are going to have grown men at the front desk expect them to behave as such and not as a young child. I have received the $80 already. I would have expected (not hoped for) but expected the general manager to call and apologize for the lack of cleanliness not in room but both rooms. I will bust Strasburg again but I will not stay at the Clarion. I’ve seen where someone posing as the manager responding to reviews and I hope he reads this and rethinks how he does business and how his employees conduct themselves because they are a reflection of him and the...

Your experience of Clarion Inn will depend greatly on your expectations.

When I arrived I could tell the the building was older and a bit worn down. I asked to see the room before checking in. This either surprised or annoyed the receptionist, not sure which, but, after some quick negotiations (leaving my driver's license), I was given the key.

The room was warm and humid when I stepped in. The pullout couch beds had some sort of mold or mildew growing underneath the cushions. One of the mattresses appeared to have used sheets still on them (with a spot of mold about the size of a quarter). The other mattresses had clearly visible potato chip… litter? Too big to really be called "crumbs". There was also mold on the air conditioning vents.

After reporting this situation to reception, I was offered a second room. This room did not have any visible mold, so I accepted (though the bathroom had a rather strong musty odor, likely due to mildew).

While this second room was cleaner, it was not exactly spotless. This is where your expectations come into play. High touch surfaces appeared wiped down adequately, but the walls had visible "splatter" from previous guests. Whether this was from a beverage, beauty products or something less appealing is anyone's guess. There were copious quantities of dead bugs and beetles, especially along the edges of the room.

There were good aspects of the rooms. The sheets appeared to be clean and the mattresses were super comfortable. There were no issues with noise, etc, so we all slept very comfortably. The staff seemed a little defensive (as if they had dealt with angry and disgruntled guests a few too many times), but with some courtesy they were very courteous in return.

However, given the lack of attention to detail with the housekeeping, we chose to find different accommodations (a new hotel) for the remainder of our stay in Lancaster. While we didn't feel like we were in danger, it was also very difficult for us to feel comfortable. At about $200/night (for a 6-person suite), we were not expecting high class, but we were expecting something cleaner and more comfortable.

I will say that checking out early was very easy and we got a full refund for the unused nights. It's not a terrible hotel, it's just going to depend on your comfort level, and with the staff you'll get out what you are...

The pictures on the hotels web site and the rooms are so totally different unless they were taken in a different part of the hotel area that we stayed in. Let me start out with the beds were comfortable, even if the headboards were falling apart. The rooms were dirty, as in needed to be painted and/or dusted/scrubbed better and a paint job wouldn't hurt the place inside and out! The outside was LITERALLY falling apart with big chunks of concrete missing from the upper walkway on underside of building and bricks falling off on edging area around windows on ground floor. The selection for breakfast was so limited. Cream cheese but no bagels (altho when tour bus came in, they brought out a little fridge with limited yogurt and had a limited number of bagels to eat, I only saw three, and I was there when they opened), old apples (no other fruit ever), one type of jelly (grape), same blueberry muffins every single day we were there (a week stay), same bread, a few slices left out, same eggs (had absolutely no taste, maybe made with water to make them last longer?), potatoes and sausage, same cereal (frosted flakes and cheerios). The coffee was weak and the tea barely made a strong cup (it was off-brand). The paper plates were the very cheapest you could purchase, they don't hold anything without falling apart and the plastic silverware could not cut the waffles. We actually went to Walmart and purchased our own cereal and bread and just used their toaster and milk. They must not wipe off tables either until end of breakfast time, they were sticky and dirty, but next day they were fine. The staff tho was super friendly! Very nice and helpful. This hotel definitely needed an upgrade, again the pics shown on the website are nothing I saw in the whole place! It was nice to have a microwave the fridge in the room tho! The plugs were so loose they fell out if plugging in phone, the usb ports did work tho. They did have a gym on property, small but very well equipped with one piece of equipment each. They did not have a washer/dryer on premises, but there was one down the street. The one item I thought was very odd and have never seen before was a post on the hotel window that stated "This hotel does not rent rooms to...

I only give two stars because the staff truly is incredible. But upon my going to check in my room I was greeted by a group of alcohol infused residents partying outside very loudly with dogs roaming at large. (See picture diagram) Apparently the owners thought it was a good idea to separate these buildings from the hotel business. Now the only control they have of the occupants is to call the law. That made me concerned for retribution against me or my vehicle. I am a business traveler and absolutely needed sleep for my next days commercial driving (a public safety issue). Every hotel is booked in this town. The amazing staff offered a solution for me to relocate toa cumbersome access other building away from the noise. I felt this was kind and satisfactory. Upon getting in the room I realized why this was the last of their rooms to be booked. Closet door torn off and barely hanging. If the floor lamp had not been unplugged, I would not have noticed the growth on the baseboard. Then when the lamp at desk was unplugged I noticed the floor had not been vacuumed in Lord knows how many guest visits. My service K9 continues to want to get under the bed. So upon looking I found more former occupant unswept debris along with a previous occupants house shoes. Oh and notice the 3D filth sitting at the light switch of desk lamp 🤮 Oh My GOD I stay in a different Choice hotel 200+ nights of the year as a commercial driver. So I can literally say I live with Choice hotels more than I live at my farm. So I take leaving a review very seriously. I always go to reviews before I book and I take hateful reviews with a grain of salt. People get nasty when they don't get their way or look for a way to get something free or cheaper. But I am telling you that for these reasons I was actually putting out my bed bug prevention on my travel cases, around bed and around my clothing. I looked for evidence and found none. This was just sleep insurance. And if you look at my profile I most commonly leave glowing reviews - at least 9 out of 10. I will conclude by leaving that the beds were comfortable and the linens fresh. The bathroom appeared clean but when there are such dramatic failures you don't feel safe to use the shower tub. 🫤
