The hotel is located near a small regional airport and within easy access of I40. I only heard one airplane each morning around 6AM that would wake only a very light sleeper. I did not hear any planes at night. Check-in was easy and check-in person was friendly and efficient. There are delicious chocolate chip cookies at the desk also when we arrived.
Room is very clean with hard floor at the entrance and a clean carpet in the main room. Bed is very comfortable with the mattress medium between firm and soft.
Bathroom clean. Towels not fluffy but comfortable and effective. Soap is liquid not bar soap and washcloths are provided. Basic toiletries are supplied “if forgotten”. There was a bathtub in our room with a high (about 1.5 feet) threshold that needed to be stepped over for entry. You would need to tell the hotel if you cannot manage this. The floor of the bath is non-slip. There is a grab bar at the entrance into the tub but not at the back of the tub, which is where most people would reach if in danger of slipping. I hope that Holiday Inn will address this. There are small lights by the outlet by the bathroom door to aid in bathroom navigation at night.
There is a small safe, a small microwave, a mini-fridge without a freezer, and an iron and ironing board. There are multiple charging sockets for both standard USB connections.
I did not look at the television but there appeared to be a large variety of channels. The air conditioning worked well and is easy to program. It was also quiet and did not disturb our sleep. Internet is free for members of IHG loyalty program. We were able to stream a TV show without any problems.
Breakfast is free, plentiful and with a lot of variety. There is a small business nook with a printer. There is an outdoor pool that appeared clean. I did not test the water, but I suspect it is not heated.
I would definitely return to this hotel if I were to return...
Read moreFor a brand new hotel, I expected alot more. I expected everything to be new and tidy, not new and trashed. Walking into the lobby for the first time, there was garbage all over the floor, chips and trash at the elevator, stains in the elevator, piles of used linen in the hallways, and then we got to our room. The room was very clean and comfortable, but had a horrible odor. We booked our stay for 2 adults, and 1 child, and were placed in a room with a king size bed and some modular couch that was not comfortable to even sit on, let alone sleep on. We asked for a new room with two beds, but they were unable to accomodate due to the hotel being booked. So we asked for a roll away bed, they were unable to accomodate this because the 2 that are on site were being used. So we were promised a discounted rate and some extra bedding for our 3 year old to sleep on the "couch", we had to call back down to the desk later to ask again for the bedding. The indoor "heated" pool was cold, and there are only 4 chairs for people to sit around the pool, and not much room for anything else. The parking lot is dirty/unfinished, and the outdoor seating area was full of boxes. To me, it looked like this hotel opened about 2-4 weeks too early. We received our statement under our door for check out, and it had the full price on it, not our promised discounted rate. Upon check out, I asked about my promised discount, and explained the situation, and I was told, "I will set this aside, and see what I can do". Not a pleasant visit to this hotel, not satisfied with the quality of this visit for the price we paid. Check in staff was friendly and accomodating (even though they didnt actually follow through with the discount we were promised), check out staff was less than friendly and not at all...
Read moreI travel so much for work and leisure that I rarely appreciate hotels anymore. But this place was so refreshingly comfortable that my biggest regret was only staying one night.
I'm sure part of the comfort factor has to do with the fact that this property is brand new, apparently opened about two weeks ago. But even with that said, I've stayed at new hotels before and they've still been hit or miss with the service and amenities. This one was not.
Everything was truly exceptional from the second I walked in the door. Staff members are friendly and helpful. My room was huge, and I can't tell you how nice it felt to walk into a spacious, brand new room. It has some fancy upgrades that I haven't seen in other HI Express hotels, like rapid USB charger plugs in the wall, and (thank goodness) FULL SIZE pillows. Even though I did have an issue with my TV, they had it fixed in less than 10 minutes from the time I placed the call to the front desk.
The gym is decent -- only one treadmill, one bike, one elliptical, one weight bench -- but it doesn't feel cramped like a lot of other hotel gyms, it has a nice big window, and it overlooks the indoor pool.
Location is also great -- about 10 minutes from the outlets and just a short drive to lots of great biking/hiking trails, which was the reason for my visit.
My only small complaint is that breakfast is only until 9, even on the weekends (most other HIEx I've stayed at extend the hours just a bit on the weekends.) Also didn't get a special welcome as a platinum IHG member, but willing to overlook that since everything else was so good.
Overall, a wonderful stay. Can't...
