!!!!CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING!!! Long post alert.. I checked in with my two young kids( 18 months old and 9 year old) and husband on 9th May. Cooked in the night (they have gas stoves). We went to sleep around 2 am and was woken up by carbon monoxide alarm blaring around 4.30.-5 am . I thought it's the batteries and I tried pressing the reset button and it still blared. I experienced very dry throat by the time my husband and son also woke up complaining of dry throat as well .Called the reception office - a lady showed up and she started opening doors and windows with me. In few minutes even before she left the alarm had stopped. I even asked her if the alarm has stopped can I be in the room and she said since they don't know the case of poisoning. I need to move out of the room immediately. So around 5.30 ish I'm moving with my family half asleep to another room. Had to come back at 7 am to collect my things again from the room. The maintenance staff told me at 7 am that they still have to figure out what was the issue- I told them I suspect the gas stove . That whole day my whole family complained of headache and just general nausea. All our plans for that day did not happen and we had come from north Carolina for this.. I stayed one more day in the room before checking out on 11th May, 8 am.
Before leaving on 11th May I had called reception and asked to credit me at least 1 day room charge for all the inconveniences caused and I was told that they will do that and that what I'm asking is fair! And only the manager can approve and she was in a meeting so I was asked to call later. I have been calling almost every other day after that but not able to speak to the manager and today I did and here is their version: The assistant manager tells me that fire company came and said it was just the batteries. I asked them to show me the report of that and he goes on to say that I'm cutting him off and I'm rude.
I asked to speak to manager and her name is Jennifer and after a 11 mins wait she tells me that the alarm had just beeped and not blared cos if it would have blared the main office would have gotten the blare too and the fire company would have come which since they did not come hence I was lying. I told her that it was blaring and infact the assistant manager told me that the fire company did come! She tells me that she will speak to the asst. manager again and will call me back.
She calls after several minutes and tells me that it was actually the maintenance people that changed batteries and alarm had stopped after that. I told her it had stopped when we opened windows and doors of the room when they first showed up at 5 am!. I implored her to get the appliance checked as somebody else could suffer and what if the alarm did not even blare the I again told her about me and my family's symptoms on the day we had the poisoning ( I had a 18 month old in the room!)and she tells me it's not their fault that that this happened and they cannot do anything think about it and hanged the phone. I called three times again and no one picked.
I'm appalled at the lack of professionalism, just basic human sense on what could have happened to me and my family and owning some responsibility of what happened and how it inconvenienced us. My son even now keeps checking carbon monoxide alarms wherever he goes for the trauma that he faced in the hotel that day.
I'm sick to my stomach on recalling that day and how they...

Read moreUPDATE on the update: I maintain that this place needs new management. General Manager Daniel called me to see if we were happy in our new unit and told me I needn't worry because of all the "systems they have in place" to ensure safety. He didn't know what the "systems" were but assured me that maintenance did. He also didn't know what the source of the gas leak was because he hadn't discussed it with maintenance and hadn't even gone to the unit to check himself. My interaction with Daniel in a nutshell: Daniel: "What can I do to make you happy?"
Me: "Find the source of the problem and fix it so no one gets hurt."
Daniel: Ok but what can I really do to make you happy?"
Me: Really find the source of the problem and fix it so no one gets hurt."
Daniel: "Ok but what can I REALLY do to make you happy and have you take down the review?"
Me: "I don't know what kind of people you're used to dealing with but where I come from people say what they mean and mean what they say. Fix the problem so no one gets hurt!! REALLY!!"
Daniel: "You don't have to raise your voice, ma'am."
Me: Let me get away from this man before I REALLY go off!
HOWEVER, I did see maintenance out and about checking several areas of the property during the rest of our visit. We found the other units comfortable and had no further problems. The kids thoroughly enjoyed the pool and their stay. The shuttle service got reinstated, which was helpful. The driver was very nice, as were the rest of the staff we encountered during the rest of the week. Kudos to ANIZA for her great customer service! Conclusion: Stay here only if you have a good sense of smell and not much of a temper. UPDATE: BEWARE! GAS LEAKS. We were just told by the manager that this place has a history of FREQUENT gas leaks that CAN and DO happen when maintenance cleans the dryer and doesn't tighten the valve or even if housekeeping is cleaning and bumps the stove. She has ZERO concern because "it happens all the time". She was very surprised we were concerned, "didn't think it was so bad", and thought "it just needs to air out". However, she did offer to move us from the room that smelled of gas (even after maintenance came and "completed the work order" and the room was "aired out". Got in last night after midnight. Location decent. Off the strip but near shopping centers and restaurants. Walk in to the lobby to check in and it smelled smoky. Pool was full and hopping. Front desk attendant informs us there will be no shuttle service to the strip for the first 2 full days of our stay due to staffing. Go up to the room to be greeted by a waterbug on it's back. Went to grab it thinking it was dead but no, he was just dazed and tried to run away. Hair on toilet. This morning go downstairs to visit my family in their room and it smells like gas. They're wondering why they feel sick. Called the front desk to let them know and they said they'll send maintenance to check. Waiting on a call back now but not...
