Went here for a 2 night weekend getaway. I arrived at the hotel at 9pm, but no issues as the valet took my car and I was still greeted by a friendly agent. The agent acknowledged my platinum status and gave me an upgrade to a water view room with a balcony on the 21st floor.
When entering my room, I was amazed at how upscale it was. It has a nice modern decoration with a comfortable king bed, a 50 inch TV, and a small office space. I went out to the balcony and I couldn't believe my eyes. It was an amazing view of the bay and the river with the docks. It was absolutely a killer view! I wanted to watch some TV, but I noticed it didn't work. I called the front desk, who informed me they will get someone to fix it. I toured the hotel for a bit, but after I came back, it still wasn't fixed. Not a huge issue as it was late anyways. I slept in the bed and noticed another issue, the pillows were all foam. I tried to sleep it off, but I found it was too firm for me to sleep well. After getting up, I went directly to the front desk to inform them of those issues. They apologized and said they will have it resolved. And yes, it was resolved with the TV working to watch some shows, and getting feather pillows for a much better sleep the next day. The room also has a mini fridge and coffee maker with Keurig coffee and tea.
The bathroom was a bit small, but it was nice and clean. The shower was stuck in massage mode, but it wasn't an issue for me as it was strong. There were no issues in getting the proper temperature I wanted. There was a bath soap by This Works and lotion by Pharmacopeia that was travel size, as well as This Works shampoo, conditioner, and body wash mounted in the shower.
The hotel had various restaurants, but I only took advantage of the Starbucks as I had 10 dollar food and beverage credit. I enjoyed a banana bread muffin and coffee. The rest, I took advantage of the concierge lounge that was open from 530 to 10 on Sunday, and 630 to 10 on Monday thru Friday. The evening hours had various fruits and vegetables, as well as two hot hors d'oeuvres. Later in the evening, there were some cookies and pastries for the sweet tooth. All were very appetizing and delicious. There was an honor bar with beer, wine, and spirit options. I enjoyed an old fashioned for 11 dollars, who I asked the lounge host to make it for me. He was very generous with the alcohol and it was a damn good drink! For breakfast hours, there was a good selection of fruits, pastries, cereals, sausage, egg, and bacon. Coffee, juice, and tea were available. When the lounge was open, there were soft drinks and yogurt that were available for taking.
The pool area was very nice on the third floor. The pool was large with a small platform to jump, but the pool is too shallow to dive. There is a bar with typical bar food and drinks. In the corner, I did see a foosball table, connect four, and cornhole. On Sunday, I noticed a live musician playing during the afternoon. The gym was nicely sized as well with various equipment. I took advantage of the exercise bike, rowing machine, and the small exercise ball over there. I didn't see much of the meeting room area, but I did enjoy a visit to the JW that is connected by a bridge on the third floor.
The service was very friendly and helpful. The front desk was very helpful in providing directions, answering questions, and resolving issues. They were also very nice in breaking a 20 and providing more travel sized toiletries for me to enjoy at home. The concierge lounge hosts were also very nice to let me take a bagel and croissants home for my friend to enjoy. It is the true Marriott quality service.
This hotel is now my favorite hotel to stay in Tampa. The views were amazing, the service was excellent, and the rooms were nice. While there were some minor mishaps, they were resolved the next day. Valet parking was a bit pricey at 40 per day, but it was worth it as I didn't have to wait too long to get it. I will indeed be using my certificates again to stay in this...
Read moreMyself, my husband, and our families and friends stayed at this hotel for our wedding weekend. The hotel is lovely, if you are able to look past the incompetence of the staff.
The staff overwrote my room block with someone else’s reservation, causing my block to be not only separated, but most rooms to be incorrect. My handicapped parents were put in a room with a tub that neither of them could get into, when they had been booked a handicap accessible room in the first place for a reason. They are both incapable of walking, and they then had to be shifted to another room, along with all of their luggage. My in laws had an incorrect room, and they were forced to move TWICE, along with all of their luggage. My sister had booked a water view room, then was told upon checking in that she’d have to pay to upgrade to the room she’d already booked. My brother in law also had to be moved after checking in, with their luggage, due to the irresponsibility of the staff in correctly booking my block. This was booked a very long time ago, and should never have been overwritten with someone else’s reservation in the first place. Beyond irresponsible of the staff to do this, especially to someone’s wedding block. They did not give any of my guests their welcome bags upon checking in, because “there were 4 other weddings” that weekend. This should be something that a hotel of this price point is capable of handling properly without hand holding. I myself had to go down to the desk to ask why the guests were not receiving their bags, and even offered to give them out myself if they were not going to do it. Eventually they delivered the bags to my guests’ rooms, but this was after our welcome event. The guests needed these bags AT check in, as the bags had a schedule in them that had information about that evening’s event. My husband’s family had set up for a different gift to be delivered to our room on the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of our stay. The hotel completely messed this up. We were not delivered any of the cheese boards that were meant to be sent to us until Sunday morning, and there was a bottle of champagne ordered that was never delivered to us at all. The staff was rude to many of my guests, my family included. The sass and snarkiness from the front desk was not only unnecessary, but frankly disrespectful when people are paying quite a lot of money to stay at this establishment. The valet dropped an entire case of alcohol from my mother in law’s car that was from our wedding, breaking all of the bottles. I believe that there was a reimbursement in the way of a hotel credit for this, and accidents happen, but this was still a hiccup in what was supposed to be a seamless hotel stay. A very expensive pillow and pillow case were taken from our car, not sure by who, but we valet-ed our car during our stay so that is all I will say about that. Upon trying to reach a manager about this, we were sent through several departments, none of which would help us or transfer us to anyone who could help us.
Overall, we were VERY disappointed in this experience. I would not recommend this hotel for your wedding, unless you are looking to be immensely stressed out, and are able to stay on top of the staff to the point of doing their jobs for them. This was our wedding weekend, and was supposed to be smooth sailing. We did not need any of the stress and anxiety that the Tampa Marriott Water Street caused us...
Read moreWe went here for a bachelorette party, the hotel was aware of this. We call ahead of time and even upgrade to a luxury suite with living room, dinning, 3 bathrooms 3 queen beds and a king bed. This was a giant suite and was pretty expensive. When we arrived they knew our friend was getting married we check in around noon and played music and went to the pool. Around 5 pm all of us got back to the room and we played music while we were getting ready. At 6:50 pm security was at our door, seriously??! Security at 6:50 pm ? Saying that they have complaints about us being to loud, we were why at playing music, just getting ready for dinner at 9:00pm that night, but since they were so disrespectful and ruined our trip, we decided to let all of our bottles of champagne, robes and all the the cute stuff we bought and spent tons of money on behind and even the cake, and went celebrate outside the hotel so they won’t sent security again. This was very early, not 10 or 11 pm the trip was completely ruined by this hotel and I will never recommend this place to anyone who actually wants to have fun or even dance on their own room. Security will be called, we had 3 suits 901,902,907 all this were attached and I’m sure the complain came from basic room, that cost just a small||Portion of what we paid, service at the restaurant was terrible, server was super rude and slow. We had to stand up to get our own mayo, they were being racist because we were speaking Spanish, we are all American citizens and do speak English. We were born in another country so when we get together we do speak Spanish. We want to let people know about this. I left my very expensive Chanel brooch of 2,700$ it was left in the room we check out at 1:00 pm the housekeepers were all ready to come in the room so I was in a rush and left it behind. I reported this to front desk, security and file a claim online and it was never returned to me. I have leave my Rolex at a different Marriott and they have give it back to me, I even left my 40k ring on the sink once and it was giving back to me at another hotel in Vegas. I just can’t never understand why someone will just steal and don’t give back something that’s obviously expensive and not theirs. My experience was terrible one of the worst ever I will never go back there, this was my mistake for not just staying at the JW instead. Biggest nightmare and headache, we were a group of friends that didn’t see each other for years, so yes I take this disrespect very personal. Worst hotel...
