Update: I spoke with Tommy, the director of rooms today, we talked for awhile and I shared everything about my experience with him. Although I think there are some things that need some improvement here, for example parking/check-on awareness, and noisy room environment, Tommy was very sympathetic to my experience and continued to share with me the projects that are in progress at the building to fix these very things along with some other improvements that I think will be well received.
To conclude, Tommy listened and took action based on my stay and truly wishes to make things right. If I find myself in the Tampa area again, I will be delighted to give Roost Tampa another opportunity because of their clear commitment to customer service.
Original review: This operates in conjunction with an apartment complex. We circled the building 4 times, looking for the entrance and check in. I only learned after talking to an adjacent hotel's worker that was outside. I had to park in a turning lane or pay to park and walk just to check in. This is not a big deal but negative feedback 1. Negative feedback 2: our room is inserted in between the parking deck access, the elevator lobby, and the apartment building management office. If you need to access any of these places, you would walk by our room. This wasn't a known issue until about 630am on a Monday morning when everyone is headed in and out of work with the elevators constantly singing and the adjacent doors (commercial heavy hotel doors) slamming multiple times every few minutes. This was frustrating and a bit infuriating because I value quality sleep as a big part of me taking time off of work. Negative feedback 3: When I awakened from the close-by noise, I was likewise greeted with a distinct smell of sewage. Coming from the bathroom...gross
I'm also not interested in wasting my time with staff trained to accommodate apartment tenants, not hotel guests, to try and settle my complaints over what I see as a poorly considered hotel operation.
My positive remark: The room was very neat and very clean and everything in it appeared new and unused. The bed and sheets were wonderfully comfortable and once in my room, I felt I had everything I needed for a basic 1 night stay. This is step 0.1 for anyone looking to open a premium hotel, by the way!
I do, however, want the public to understand exactly what it was like while I stayed here.
Final thing to share: I was here for one night. The cost was around $250.00 but I was surprised by an additional $35.00 parking pass at check in.
I would not recommend you spend your money here.👎
Thank you if you have taken the time to read this review, I...
Read moreThis hotel is absolutely gorgeous full of awesome amenities. It’s really conveniently located near Amalie arena, it’s a five minute walk away. However, finding the building when you first arrive is VERY stressful there is no clear instructions on the email for how to park, the email instructions were old because there was no assistance outside the hotel for parking. There is also no clear signage for the Roost hotel, or any parking signage for the roost. We drove around for 15 min and had to pay to park at a parking garage a block over so we could walk to physically find the hotel. We finally found out that it was inside of the Asher building after googling. Once we got into the hotel, we waited briefly to speak to the front desk agent (Jason) who was professional but not very welcoming or friendly. I’m assuming it’s because we did not look like the typical guest of the hotel or maybe it was a bad day? It wasn’t a great first impression. Jason, let us know that the parking is directly behind the building the opposite side of the hotel insurance. It was a lot of extra work to have to pay $35 ($70 for me since we had 2 vehicles) for when it could just be included in the hotel price. Especially since it’s very stressful to gain access to. We even had two separate cars stop us asking for roost hotel. Thankfully it was after we figured out where the parking was and we were able to assist them. The evening staff was a lot friendlier thankfully and very helpful when we had questions. You guys truly have a beautiful hotel but service does need a little bit of work especially for front desk. That is your first impression of a hotel. I understand that we may not look like the typical guest that stays at your hotel.. but people, come in all shapes, colors, sizes and looks. If we are all paying for the same hotel and the same services, we all should be treated the the same welcoming hospitality. Honestly, I am a little disappointed with all the extra stress after paying specifically for the hotels convenience. The only convenient parts of this hotel where it’s proximity...
Read moreOkay, I've incorporated Argentina into the review. Here's the updated version: Fantastic Stay at The Roost for Our International SAP Training Team! Our company recently hosted 22 coworkers from Germany, Colombia, Mexico, and Argentina for two weeks of SAP training here in Tampa. We booked them at The Roost, and it turned out to be an absolutely fantastic choice! The highlight for the team was undoubtedly the eight-bedroom penthouse. It was a huge hit, providing ample space for everyone. What truly made it special was that it allowed our trainers to seamlessly transition from the workday to informal collaboration in the evenings. They could comfortably eat dinner together in the penthouse, utilizing the shared kitchen, which fostered a sense of camaraderie that you just don't get in a typical hotel setting. One of the standout moments was the barbecue we held on the seventh floor by the pool. It was a wonderful opportunity for our local team to connect with our international colleagues. We even had a coworker from Argentina and a gentleman from Indiana take charge of the grilling! Everyone had a blast hanging out together in such a relaxed atmosphere. Since returning to their respective countries, we've heard nothing but rave reviews about their stay at The Roost. Many commented that it felt more like a home than a hotel, which made the often-intensive SAP training that much more enjoyable. We also want to give a huge shoutout to James, Ivan, and Kaori. They were our absolute rock stars throughout the booking and stay process. They made everything incredibly easy, were always kind and fun to work with, and truly ensured our coworkers had the best possible experience. If you're looking for a place in Tampa that can comfortably accommodate a large group and offers a more communal and home-like feel, we wholeheartedly recommend The Roost. It definitely elevated our team's training experience! Carla...
