Short Summary: Beautiful hotel and great location, but looks were deceiving. The service was severely lacking. Being a property that advertises themselves as a 5-star hotel that charges 5-star rates and prices, the come up very short on the service category. We arrived with excitement to see this new beautiful hotel and left with buyer's remorse. My wife and I seek out 5-star properties because we enjoy that experience, and don't mind paying for it, but Tampa Edition missed the mark significantly, in our eyes. We were thoroughly impressed the moment we valeted our car and walked through the doors... wow! We thought the lobby was absolutely gorgeous with all of the greenery and beautiful winding staircase. We were in a suite (living room & bedroom) and overall was very pretty. It probably could have used a few more pictures or accessories to spruce things up a bit, but the bathroom closet and shower are way too crammed together. We were constantly shuffling around each other when getting ready and also the coffee maker rarely worked. 4.5 stars on the room for those reasons. Service Experience: We got in late the first night so we went straight to the room to drop off our things and went down to The Market to grab some dinner. We were sat outside and waited 20 minutes just to get someone to bring us waters. When brought our waters we asked the lady if we could go ahead and put in some drink and appetizer orders and she told us she was assisting the server but would tell the server we're ready to put in some orders. We waited another 20 minutes constantly looking around to get someone's attention with no success. We finally folded, got up, and walked across the street where we enjoyed an excellent dining experience at Boulon (highly recommend). The next morning we woke up and decided to give The Market another try for breakfast. Unfortunately, we pretty much had the same experience on timeliness of service, but rode it out this time. We waited 20-25 minutes to get our coffee and juice we ordered, and the breakfast took about 1Hr 20min start to finish. That would be more understandable for an evening dinner, but for breakfast, especially on a weekday in a city environment, people want to eat a good meal and get on with their day. On our final day we spent the afternoon at the pool. We rarely saw our server and at times had to flag down another server to let her know we wanted to put an order in and another time I just went straight to the bar to order a drink. I ordered the greek grilled cheese & fries and waited well over an hour, maybe 1.5 hours, and it never came out. At that point, I had hit my boiling point with the service issues at this hotel and the excessive amount of waiting for nearly everything... it was painful! I got up and tracked down our server (of course, I had to get up and ask other servers where she was) and asked her to cash us out because we needed to leave to get something to eat. She acted surprised (although I'm sure she wasn't) that the grilled cheese hadn't come out and told me she would get a manager for me to talk to. Never saw the manager. How long can it possibly take to make a grilled cheese and fries... c'mon! We have stayed at the JW Marriott in the past and will elect to stay there during future visits to Tampa. Tampa Edition is new, I'll give them that, but don't advertise yourselves as a 5-star property when you're not prepared to offer that experience. It's deceitful and also not true. I overheard the bartender telling some guests at the bar while waiting to order a drink telling them that they are waiting for their 5-star certification review and would be the first Edition Hotel to receive such a rating. I'm here to tell you, that's not going to happen unless things improve by a mile on the...
Read moreWe stayed here the week of 4th of July and to celebrate my husband’s birthday. We are Amex platinum members so I really wanted to spoil my husband. This was our first time at a 5 star hotel. I redeemed some of our points for our stay but what I love about Amex is the Fine Hotels & Resorts benefits. Upon arrival, the valet team greeted us and were really courteous opening our door and the front lobby door. We did choose to do valet. The front desk member greeted us and was very professional/kind. He mentioned us being Amex platinum members and the benefits we will be receiving. One of the perks is a room upgrade and check in at 12pm if available. We did arrive around that time so we were able to check in and there was availability for a room upgrade. Initially I had booked for 2 queen beds and was upgraded to a king suite which he also brought up requesting a roll out bed since we had our 2 kids with us. We loved the room upgrade and the quality of the room is excellent. My only complaint is the king mattress being way too firm for me, although the sheets and pillows were soft. The room staff brought the roll out bed at a timely manner and we requested additional king feather pillows. He did give us an option for feather or plush pillows. The robes in the room are plush and thick. They’re of quality. The shower essentials were convenient as well as the bath salt. You do have the option to purchase the shower essentials or lotion. Overall, room was fantastic! We loved the atmosphere in the lobby. They have comfortable seating throughout. There’s also a pool table which my husband and son enjoyed playing. Amex members also get breakfast credit for two at The Market. We ordered French toast and lattes the first day and another day we got avocado toast. I would recommend to ask cherry tomatoes on the side for your avocado toast. Adds great flavor to the whole meal! I would say the breakfast credit was able to cover both me and my husband’s meal with a little extra credit to spend. The server and hostess were super friendly and professional. I also treated my husband and I to a couples massage at the spa. We did use our Amex credit at the spa. The staff was amazing and friendly during our time there. They even wrote a cute little note for us. I think the hotel location is great and convenient. Walking distance to other restaurants, Publix Green Wise market, Sparkman Wharf, The Aquarium, the arena, etc. The TECO street car is free to utilize downtown. The pool area was gorgeous. The staff greet you and once you pick a lounge area to sit at, they set up the lounge chairs for you using towels to cover the seat and bring you additional pool towels for the whole family. I am not sure if the pool is heated or not but for it being in July, the pool had a great temperature. Upon check out, we had a guaranteed 4pm check out. We opted to receive the receipt via email. We did not receive the email for a couple days so I had to make a call to the hotel. The only hiccup once I received our receipt via email was a dinner charge at the Azure restaurant for $235, which we did not eat dinner at all in any of the restaurants during our stay. The lady over the phone made the correction. My only complaint is that if guests opted to make a room charge, the initial receipt at any of the restaurants or spa require room number, name, and signature. So not sure how another party was able to charge our room for their dinner. Just glad that it was taken off though. Overall, we had a great experience and wish we could’ve stayed longer! We would definitely visit again and would recommend to anyone. We truly felt welcomed from all the staff we encountered during our stay. As for the price, if we were not Amex members and have no perks, I would say it may be a bit pricey for...

I was so excited to surprise my husband with a night at edition hotel in tampa for his birthday and a spa treatment the following day. I had planned a dinner out first with friends and the plan was to go after dinner for drinks at the edition and surprise him with staying there. We arrived at 11pm w a few friends and the bouncer gave me an attitude right away ( they had a line that night on Saturday as they do have a club in the hotel). I let him know I have a reservation trying to do so discretely as it is still a surprise. The bouncer asked me for my reservation number, so I pulled my email right away and my spa reservation showed up first. He pushed me to the side treating me of his words a LIAR! The spa reservation came first and he didn’t even care waiting for me to show him my actual room reservation. He made me feel like I was nothing while I had a 1000$ night booked and more at the spa! So not only the surprise was ruined but I was getting a bit frustrated as of how couldn’t I even get tin in the hotel to check in! Eddie the director of safety jumped in and immediately took the bouncer side . Didn’t want to hear what we had to say. I am in such disbelief at this point. The overnight manager James Bailey of the hotel was almost begging the security to let me check in (but supposedly had no power over the situation? ) Long sorry short I went in by myself to check in after 35 mins of arguing and when I came back out to get my party, my husband was still arguing with Eddie the director of security. They would not let us in while I had keys of the room in my hand! I was getting angry at that point and said well imma have to cancel my reservation and Eddie approved right away saying”it’s better if we part ways from now” . Wow
My husband and I got married at the edition in miami and stayed before to the edition tampa. We really liked the atmosphere but the service for a luxury hotel is behind mediocre: and I have never been as humiliated in my life. Sadly I have to add, with many witnesses around me, and videos that the African American bouncer not only gave me an attitude , pushed me away but were favoring all African American women letting them in without any questions while they were not even guest at the hotel.
VERY DISAPPOINTED BY THE EDITION. We ended up leaving ( party ruined, humiliated and an hour drive back from home) I called the next day as I cannot let that go it’s too big. I talked to a manager who apologized and told me I was going to be called back by another manager. I sent many emails. And guess what? I had not heard one word form the edition hotel👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I AM GOING TO MAKE SURE TO SPREAD THE WORD BELIEVE ME! I have never ever been treated as poorly as that I’m let’s remind us by a...
