I want to first start off by saying thanks to Capt Luke for such a quick response to my inquiry. Out of the 7 different charters that i call. He was the first of only 3 to actually call or text back. Booking this trip was a breeze because these guys know their stuff. They answered all of my questions and had the best flexibility to account for weather or any unexpected changes that may have needed to happen during our trip. They recommended a weekday to try to avoid too much other boat traffic, which we did. They also recommended booking a morning trip because the fish bite better, which we did as well.
That brings me to our actual trip. We met up with Chris and Capt Rocky at 8am. After riding out to the first reef, we dropped some lines and caught a beautiful mangrove snapper on our first cast. This was when i knew we were going to have a great day. The boys had gone out and caught 500 bait minnows just a few hours prior and it paid off. We had enough to both chum the water and to never leave a hook empty. We loved bantering back and forth with Chris and Capt Rocky as they both had a great sense of humor.
We really only stopped at 5 different spots to fish. Two reefs, a grassy patch, and a couple of mangrove tree lines. We caught fish at every spot. These guys knew where to fish and how to get them to bite. For the first two hours we were basically fishing on our own. Then once we started catching a ton of fish a pod of two or three dolphins pretty much hung with us the rest of the day trying to get easy meals.
All in all we couldn't have asked for a better day on the water. TFC was both affordable and professional. The filets that Capt Rocky wound up cleaning for us were perfect! I would highly recommend contacting them to schedule a charter for yourself. There's nothing better than some fresh caught fish for dinner. If you're not into cooking yourself, you can take your filets to the restaurant right there on the beach and they'll cook it for you.

Read moreCaptain Rick was awesome! I'll start by saying Captain Rick is an expert boater, expert fisherman, an expert on the Florida fisheries. I was really impressed with his knowledge of the watershed and fishing in the area.
I was going to rent my own boat for a day, and the price ended up being more expensive after fuel and tax than going out with a pro. On top of that I don't know the waters, what fish are in season, and the regulations ( I'm a freshwater fisherman). I could have spent more money to go where I might have not caught anything or gotten myself in trouble.
I'm so glad we went with Captain Rick! He is a forth generation fisherman on the gulf, and knew the perfect spots that were full of big fish! We had an extremely successful trip full of fish including some nice groupers. Rick was very accommodating, providing great bait, getting poles set quick if a line breaks, and even some music. I brought a ton of my own gear and didn't need any of it...Rick has it all! I also have to add his boat is gorgeous and I was pretty jealous.
Overall it was an experience of a lifetime. I am an expert bass fisherman and I understand even with knowledge of the waters and the perfect bait/lures you still may not catch fish...many things play into why fish wont bite some days. However expert knowledge will always give a serious edge and Rick has it. Both me and my girlfriend caught lots of fish and had plenty to eat afterwards. I learned a lot from Rick and really enjoyed my time with him. I stayed in Clearwater and if I ever make it back I'm 100% taking another trip with Rick....
Read moreI had a wonderful experience with Captain Oliver and his first mate, Captain Andrew!! If you are looking to take a fishing trip, Captain Oliver is my recommendation!
I work in Corporate Event Planning and about a year ago, I had a client who wanted to take 20 men out on a fishing trip in Tampa and I knew absolutely nothing. I began calling around to different charters, etc, and eventually I was connected with Captain Oliver. He was so genuine and kind and he walked me through "fishing basics." Originally, he didn't offer what I thought I was looking for, which was one boat (yacht) for 20 men to all go out together. Captain Oliver gave me suggestions as to where else I could look, but he also told me he could get together 4-5 smaller boats, to fit 4-5 Anglers each and my guests would have a great time.
About a year passed and my client finally decided to go with Captain Oliver's idea. At this point, when I called Captain Oliver back, he remembered me and connected me with his first mate, Captain Andrew to work out details of the trip. They were both a pleasure to work with.
The fishing trip happened on November 7th, 2015 and it was an absolute blast. Captain Oliver had 4 other Captains help out on the trip, and they were all equally as enjoyable! Every single person on the boats had a great time and they all said they would recommend their captains to anyone looking. Captain Oliver and First Mate Andrew were both professional and fun to be around. I will definitely book fishing trips in the future with them, even if it's...
