I've stayed at Red Roofs across the country. I've recommended Red Roofs to associates. Even when, as they were in Washington DC, a nasty bunch. My return to Red Roof, and dealing with the call center was so disappointing. My stay started with making a reservation. I told the lady I would be staying 2 nights. One day was higher than the other, but Ok, it's a holiday. I told her to charge both nights. I get to the hotel, running late. As I walked in, I noticed a burnt chicken smell in the lobby. Two people behind the counter. One lady working hard, one guy standing there talking to another guy, not even attempting to help the lady. As I was getting my room the nice lady (who everyone else says is rude) was explaining the room charges. I told her I had paid for two nights. She told me I was charged for one night & could pay for the other night now, or the next day. I questioned why were the two nights not charged when I made the reservation & requested it, she said it was company policy to only charge for one night over the phone. I grumbled a bit and paid for the next night (why do I still feel like I was overcharged). I wish I hadn't paid for that second night. FINALLY, I get to my room. My nose clogged up & I had difficulty breathing the second I walked in. It has a single HUGE comfortable bed, microwave, & fridge. It cost more than a double bed room. The air was cool & moist, but had a strange unpleasant odor which got into my clothes. I became "nose-blind" to the smell, but still had difficulty breathing. I used extra asthma medication & set up my computer to get some work done. My wireless mouse fell on the floor, the part covering the battery came off & disappeared. I turned on all the lights to look for it, and used a flashlight to look in the dark corners. BIG mistake. By the fridge and microwave, on the shelves, there was a THICK layer of dust. The floor where the appliances sat & under the dresser drawers there was dust, glass nuggets and hair. The carpet around & under the bed hadn't been vacuumed in months, and the cabinets, drawers and everything around it had unidentifiable drip marks & stains. The same young lady that had checked me in, called and asked me about the room. I told her what I'd found, and she did offer a new room, but I refused because I had brought too much luggage, was tired, and didn't want to repack my clothes & electronics. I should've taken her up on her offer When I went to bed, the SECOND I turned off the last light, that's when the bowling-footbal-hockey-soccer-dance-stomp-the-floor & slam-the-door-as-hard-as-we-can festival began in the room above me. I dunno how I got sleep. The next morning, after my shower, I saw that the water that didn't hit the tub, went all over the floor & into the room (with wooden slats for the floor). When the maid came & offered to clean my room. I told her what happened in the bathroom. "Did you put the shower curtain inside the tub?" For a very brief second, I considered cussing her out, but instead I asked for extra towels, had her make my bed, and tipped her. Beware the vending machines. They show one price & charge a higher one. I got a warning text that the machine was trying to take extra money. I didn't even stay the entire two days. When I told the check out girl about the smell & the dust, she said "I'm sorry, the next time you come, it'll be less dusty." Then she smiled sweetly and handed me my receipt, which charged me for the two full nights even though I didn't stay. I just wanted out. Now before anyone says I'm being hard on them, I've worked in hotels. All the way from scrubbing toilets to front desk. I wasn't expecting eat off the floor spotless. But I was expecting not to have to wash my clothes twice, throw away my new duffel bag, & get my car detailed to get rid of that smell, or wear my CPAP and take extra medication for my lungs for two straight days to get back to normal breathing after that dust. The managment did apologize after they sent a survey that I answered, but apologies don't...
Read moreStayed here over the Memorial Day weekend with the family and was VERY disappointed. The AC in our first room barely worked during the day. And if you have ever been to Phoenix in the summer time then you know how God damn miserable it gets here. We had a good sales day with work so we decided to treat our selves and the kids and upgraded to a "Premium" room which aside from the mini fridge ,microwave, foot pillows and the box of "snacks" (which just ended up being a bag of popcorn, two granola bars, small bag of trail mix, small bottle of oj and a bottle of water, whoop Dee do), the room was no different and for the price it was definitely not worth it. We were going to continue our stay here but without any warning or previous attempt to contact us, we had a so called manager, whIcy I'm guessing that's who she was since he was the only guy iv ever seen in a suit here, come knock on our door and literally physically threaten to remove us from the room if we do not leave in 5 minutes because we had not made it down stairs to pay yet. Mind you it was only 12:00pm. So since we weren't planning on leaving and my 6 month pregnant self was still in my pajamas, it took me more then 5 minutes to pack everything and get ready. The house keeper proceeded to park her cart right outside our door and knock every other minute being extremely rude telling us to get out and the manager came up with two other men trying to remove us from the room. We are good guests. We do not smoke in our room or cause any type of disturbance to anyone else. I clean the room myself so housekeeping doesn't have to. Shoot even when we switched rooms I made sure all the linen were torn off the beds and put into a pile and put the towels into a pile and took out all the trash myself. I also wiped down all the mirrors and counter tops and swept the floor. All housekeeping had to do was put in me trash bags, towels and make the beds with fresh linens. But I'm now being removed from this property. When every night I could smell marijuana in th halls and not so trust worthy looking individuals just hanging out in the parking lot all night long. Not to mention they don't provide you with ANY type of breakfast or snack. Just coffee and tea. And the soda vending machine cost $2.25 for a 20oz bottle. I could buy 2-3 of them at the corner store. This hotel is nothing special at all and I highly recommend you stay somewhere else. I'm now having to find another hotel in the middle of this hot ass day with he kids and my dog and turtle in the car with all our bags. I'm extremely upset and yeah, find somewhere else. Oh yeah, one of the front desk girls was very rude to me once she realized I was with my boy friend because she had been trying to flirt with him and get him to hang out with her. But once she saw us together, oh boy did her attitude change. Maybe you shouldn't hit on your guests. It's unprofessional. Just...
Read moreMy sister, her boyfriend, and myself stayed Sunday December 4th, 2016 in room 302.
The reason I can give it as least one star is because the hotel was easy to find, other than that we probably would have had a better experience at a Super 8 or The Holliday In.
As we walked into the hotel room has a nasty Oder, as of a moist had been sitting in the room since last time someone had it. It was discusting.
The heater did not work only the AC, so to even get a little warm we had to unplug the machine. (ridiculous) FIX YOUR HEATER.
We returned to our room around 11:30pm to find out our key was not working for whatever reason. I went downstairs as my sister an her boyfriend waited in the hallway upstairs. Coming out of the elevator I saw a caucasian man about 5'8 about 280-300lbs wearing all black headed up w/ a not so happy face. I waited downstairs and saw the same man a couple minutes later come down an get behind the desk I smiled an he just gave me a dirty look, so as of right there he gave me a bad vibe an completely unprofessional to help your next guest with bad baggage of anytime. He answered the phone as I stood infronf of him (which I had no problem with) I heard the lady on the phone saying was some noise on floor 3 around whatever room she was in an if he would just call the room around them to see what was going on. After he hung up I kindly explained to him that we were on floor 3 that we had just gotten there an out key had not let us in. So there were two people in the hallway. This unprofessional man went on to tell me that what I had told him was no excuse to throw a party, I responded we were not throwing a party we were just trying to get into our room, he said a couple stupid unprofessional things in the tone I was not speaking to him in as if he was trying to be big man. As we go into the elevator he threatened to kick us out of the hotel with no refund because he had gotten many complaints on us, mind we hadn't even been there for 10 minutes before I went down stairs to get a key that actually worked. As soon as he threatened me I reasoned I was ready to go because no where in the check in did it mention I had to go back after being out to get a new key from a man that did not know how to be professional. As soon as we got upstairs he told my sister an her boyfriend to keep the noise level down in a complete different tone. To me I took this as a sign he was trying to scare me or act big guy because I was alone.
He was rude he said some very ignorant comments in a tone that was NOT needed. This man needs to be trained correctly or let go because the attitude he had he should not be working, and in anger management classes.
My sister had gone there once before an spoke about it highly but we walked out unpleased with the room an the attitude we caught there. I will never be going back.
Your graveyard guys...
