After struggling through a 4.5 hour traffic jam due to a major accident, I was looking forward to a quiet evening in the hotel. I made a poor assumption.
First off it was difficult to find due the the lack of signage. The Regency Inn sign was displayed very well but there was only a banner advertising the Rodeway Inn on one side of the office, which could only be seen from one direction (opposite one to which we were travelling).
The clerks that greeted me at 10:20 pm were extremely helpful and welcoming. Unfortunately they could not get the card scanner to read my credit card and I ended up having to pay cash. No problem. Get my room keys and head over.
Open the door and we were assaulted with the smell of fresh paint and cigarette smoke. Having major lung issues, I always ask for a non-smoking room.
My assumption is that the painter smoked in room while painting, since the smell did not last that long, when we left the door open to air it out.
The room was clean and the beds were comfortable and clean. Although it does appear that it has been furnished through a hotel auction. Our phone was from Holiday Inn, the bedspreads from Motel 6, and the garbage pails from Super 8. Beautful new LCD TV with a large range of channels available and the Wi-Fi, although slow, was easily accessible. Speed was mostly due to a large number of people trying to access it.
The bathroom, WOW! The toilet was not secured well to the floor. The faucets for the sink were not secured. The shower curtain and the rod were barely hanging in. Peeling plaster and mold around the top of the tub enclosure was definitely not appealing. The towels had been left in the room so long that there were rust stains from the rack on them. The door did not fit into the frame and we were unable to close it. On the positive side, an excellent new shower head with amazing water pressure.
When we went to check out, the young lady was quite surly. There was no coffee made (as advertised). I was told by her that because I had booked the hotel online, I was to get my receipt online. Was quite sour when I insisted that she print it for me.
After being a steady customer for the last 9 years, I was surprised at the state of this hotel. It did have it's good points, but the bad outweighed the good this time around unfortunately. It is definitely not up to the standards I have come to expect from...
Read moreWhen I arrived at this hotel, I was met by a young woman at the front desk who stared at me like I just ruined her year just by walking in the door. I greeted her with a "hello, how are you?", and was given silence in return. I stated that I have a reservation and gave over my ID. After a long silence I was asked "how you payin", I explained that my room was booked with points. Again I was met with dead silence except for one constant sound every few seconds of a heavy exaggerated sigh as if I was inconveniencing her so much that she could not put it into words.||||After messing with the computer for a few minutes, the woman then picked up the phone and dialed, who I can only assume was a manager or another employee, stating "I can't get this guy checked in". They had a quick conversation where the side that I could hear just sounded like the woman at the front desk arguing with the other person "I already tried that, it's not working". ||||At this point nothing has been said to me at all, other than the original "how you payin". The call ends just kind of abruptly with no "ok, or thanks, or bye", and we go back to silence with the occasional heavy sigh. ||||After standing there with no communication, and counting the 18th sigh, I decided that I would leave. I asked for my ID back and left. I slept in my truck after driving another 5 hours down the road. As I was pulling out of the hotel someone was walking up to the office which might have been the person that was called but, I wouldn't know as nothing was said to me at all in regards to " I'm sorry, I'm having trouble getting you checked in, I have someone coming to help" nothing, just silence with a side of exaggerated sighs. ||||I recommend a few things to the incompetent twit you have working the desk overnight. ||||First, ||Learn some communication skills. ||Greet your customers. ||If something is not working, apologize to the customer and explain it to them. ||Lastly, don't just stand there and continuously sigh, that just makes people angry. ||||If you don't like your job, quit and find...
Read moreFairly cheap rates, the bed was very comfortable and the tv channels were plentiful. The room itself needed some work. The shower didn't work right ( keen knob pulled up for shower the water came out faster from the faucet then the shower head also the water was hotter at the faucet; the microwave didn't have a turntable and had a burn mark in it plus it was unplugged. No coffee pot in the rooms and the fridge is rather small. Be careful using a debit or credit card. I paid for a week and the price was decent, then I discovered that they charged an unauthorized amount of $68.10 to my account for no reason what so ever leaving me with $4.38. When I went to the front desk to resolve the issue the clerk got irate with me started yelling that the manager is not available. UPDATE The manager/owner came to my room and explained what was going on gave me. A printout of my charges. I told him I was left with 4 dollars and some change and needed my money to eat on for the week. He said he is working on it and he understands that I need my money and need to eat. 15 minutes later I get a knock on the door and he hands me a bag from McDonald's and said I need to eat and if I need food later on just let him know and he'll...
