But If You Take Some Time To View The Entire Menu,

My Advice Is This: Just Ignore Them&Associate With The Nice Ones.
That's What I Do When Visiting Here Whenever I Pass Through The Town.

Read moreThis is an old restaurant that's been in this Indiana college town for half-century or more. They have some unusual hours, so a couple of times when we felt like going there, they were closed. We finally made it on a Wednesday night. Walking in it feels neighborhood comfortable it is supper club kind of way, right down to the very old neon sign proclaiming " Abe Malooley's Saratoga Bar-Cafe", and the ever so faint aroma of generations of cigarette smokers who no doubt enjoyed a martini or a scotch & soda at the cool old mid-century bar. A friendly and helpful staff, right down to the bartender who came to the table to make sure I wanted rye in my manhattan. The drinks were generous, and the blue Sycamore, a paen to the Indiana State Sycamores, was more than. The menu is moderately priced with a good array of choices. We started with the fried calamari with Asian wasabi sauce, and found it delicious. My wife and daughter both chose, and enjoyed, the goat cheese and (house made) pepper jelly burger. My wife noted the fact that her medium burger had just that nice touch of pink, not overdone like it is so often. I tasted her sweet potato fries, and they were really good. I had the breaded catfish, it arrived at the table really hot, and the breaded batter was delicious, the fish very moist. I had the bourbon frosted cake for dessert, it was killer good! We had a fine time at Saratoga, and we'll...
Read moreWe made reservations at the Saratoga for a 70th birthday celebration for family members. They were incredibly accommodating of our large group, and even though the restaurant was very busy that evening, the service was amazing! We had two small children in our group and the staff were so lovely, waving to them from the kitchen and giving them hats. You can certainly tell the restaurant is ran by a local family.
I've also eaten at a lot of restaurants in the area, as we live in Indianapolis and have family in Terre Haute, and I can honestly say the Saratoga hands down has the best food in this area. Do not miss out on the calamari or the spinach and artichoke dip - both are truly the best I've ever had! The special homemade cheesecake is also to DIE FOR (also the best I've ever had - and I love cheesecake). My husband ordered the prime rib, and it was fantastic. He also said it was on his list of one of the best meals. We met family for breakfast the next day and couldn't stop raving about how great of an experience and meal we had! Do not miss out on...
