There’s seems to be very few buildings left from the earlier years The Indiana Theatre is a historic theater in Terre Haute, Indiana. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 13, 1997 and is located in the Wabash Avenue-East Historic District. It opened on January 28, 1922. The theatre was built by Terre Haute resident T. W. Barhydt and was designed by John Eberson. Eberson, who later developed the atmospheric theater style of movie palace, first experimented with atmospheric design elements at the theatre. Eberson stated, "Into this Indiana Theatre I have put my very best efforts and endeavors in the art of designing a modern theatre such as I have often pictured as what I would do were I given a free hand.

Read moreWow, beautiful theater! Even upon walking up you can see it's beautiful styling in the marble and ticket window. Just inside is an amazing, beautiful dome entry foyer. Concessions sold at a folding table (weird). Once inside it is interesting. There's a lower terrace level with tables for groups. And for certain events bar service. Then there are seats low & close to the screen in what is probably an orchestra pit. Going up from there, are angled seating. This place was doing stadium seating, since before stadium seating was cool. Not perfectly comfortable seats or cup holders, but good views and a truly beautiful theater as a whole. Read moreSeating is not very nice - quite old. Little things are inconvenient- like: why do they have 10 front doors and, literally, only one is unlocked? No sign. Why not sell tickets from the ticket booth instead of a card table? Everything is kind of run down - but the dance recital we went to was $25 a ticket. That might not be their fault. Lighting was bad - dancers in the back row were in shadow. Sound was OK.
