The nicest worst Hampton Inn I've experienced.
Of course I need to start this by saying, no, YELLING... DON'T LET THE DOOR SLAM SHUT WHENEVER YOU LEAVE YOUR ROOM! RUDE RUDE RUDE! The hotel chain that can somehow develop a soft closing door will get my business forever. This is not a issue with this hotel but every hotel and management is not at fault at all. Common courtesy people. Remember when that used to exist? Anyway... I'm in a hotel room about 100 times per year. I'm no novice. I USED to stay at Hampton Inns exclusively. That just might have ended. This is my experience and my opinion. I don't expect anything to change. I have a certain minimum expectation that may be higher than yours. That being said... Let's begin.
To find someone at the front desk to check in at 6pm was like "where's Waldo". Yeah we can check in online but I like a "key" so I don't have to constantly get my phone and open the app. Get someone at the front desk. Yep, you've said in a previous review that you addressed this. Do more assertive addressing.
Two bath towels? Really? Two people, two towels, every hotel does that right? Nope. Is there a supply chain issue? How about two towels per guest.
Are the guests allowed to cook in the rooms? 4th floor reeked of curry. Yeah it smelled delicious but not really what I want to smell in a hotel hall. Ozium maybe?
The Night Desk Clerk was apparently having a rough start to her shift. She was chain smoking right outside of the automatic doors by the parking lot. Well, that kept the doors open so she could watch the front desk while puffing away like her life depended on it. Unfortunately, her doings filled the entire lobby with the smell of cigarettes. Maybe don't do that.
What's the deal with the sonic sound waves all night. Yep, sonic sound waves. It sounded like a helicopter was in the next room. But we were in a corner room, no one above us. Interestingly enough, there was one spot in the left middle of the room where you couldn't experience the eardrum discomfort. It might be the air-conditioning unit on the roof? Kept us up all night. It actually hurt the ears. We even asked one of the housekeepers about it and she said yeah it's really bad and it hurts her ears.
Speaking of the housekeepers... Her banging on the door at 8am when we still are sleeping, WTH? She said she thought we left. I assured her, nope we're still here.
Breakfast. Yeah this was the clincher. I recommend going anywhere else for breakfast and paying twice what they're asking. It will be a much better experience than what the "free" breakfast is at the Hampton Inn in Tigard. All the coffee was empty. ALL! The lobby coffees and the breakfast coffees. Empty! The egg and potato serving trays, empty. I waited 8 minutes for someone to pop out of their little hiding place in the back so I could ask how much longer would it be before refills found their way back...or maybe eggs and potatoes are having the same supply chain issues the towels are having. I asked someone who just happened to pop out from the back to help the guests who were waiting three minutes for someone to show up so they could check out. Wait three minutes right now, it's a long time to wait for a front desk person to come to the actual front desk to help out guests. But I digress... He was nice enough to go in to the breakfast area and started reloading. Thanks dude. But management? Get your breakfast game in order. That's 25% of the reason most people choose a hotel. And for the love of GOD, EMPTY THE GARBAGE!
The room decor, great. The welcome with your name on the TV, nice touch. The mystery item left in the toilet? Not so great. The filth on top of the HVAC unit? Gross. The shower was great except for the slippery floor. Yikes! That's a lawsuit waiting to happen. Good thing there is a safety bar in the shower. No, I'm not some old person who easily falls. This danger is genuine. So much so that I can almost hear the shower scolding me in the voice of "Walter White" saying "I am the danger"....
Read moreMy stay before this one: I went to get snacks from the area near the Left of the front desk. As soon as I approached the desk a Caucasian male standing and waiting for the elevator jogs from there to the staff door on the left side behind the desk. They were talking about him having a free red bull and shady/criminal talk with the two Caucasian female employees who came from the employee door behind the desk and also acted as if they couldn't login to the Computer. After waiting 10+ minutes I left and it was late so I was just wanting the snacks and to go to bed. This stay on 9/9/23 - 9/11/23 confirms my assessment of this hotel. They are Racist Criminals so if you're non White watch what you have them put on your room, they will try to add more money on it. The issue this time, They cut my Tv off. I called to have it fixed. Maintenance man comes and fix it but ask me a question that had nothing to do with the maintenance. The Possibly male Asian Maintenance employee said "so how long will you be here"! Which is very Racist seeing how I was explaining what happened and how the tv acted as if someone took a different remote control and made it act up. I only stayed a second time because I use virtual key and I can select a room on the floor I want because they will try to place me on the highest floor and away from the elevator. Need an entire new staff. I'm from the South so I know what Racism is, here it's subtle and sneaky with some Heckling. Upon arrival two Caucasian males in suits walk out a meeting room on the side of the Fitness room and I heard them say I never seen him before, let's go to the front desk and see who he is. That was around 1pm to 150 pm range on Saturday September 9, 2023. The culture of your employees is bad and they are running this place into the ground. Instead of swapping old towels and face cloths out they give each room I'm in or everyone is in a set of good towel and face cloth and a set of old with tears in it, face cloth and towel. Breakfast now is Terrible, I wouldn't feed it to a dog. In 2022 when I used to come here the Breakfast was decent. In 2023 it's Horrible. There are better hotels to stay at. I recommend a new Staff. Out with the bad and in with the good. (I have Security and Military background, so I know bad Characters when I assess them)
I stayed here December 7- December 10 to give it a chance, hoping new Management fixed the issues. And it got worst yall. I'm a Diamond Member, I got no Waters upon check in. The Digital key didn't work so This Diamond Member had to stand in a Line for 15 minutes or more which defeats the purpose in being a Member and being able to go from your car to your room with your phone being the Digital key. The bed was filthy. Who ever cleaned room 148 is the Laziest Housekeeper in the cleaning Hotel Business. She made the dirty bed and how do I know it was dirty, it had so many hairs on the sheets. I saw them as soon as I pulled the covers back. Went to the front desk and the High School Male gave us Large or Queen sheets for a King bed and they had red stains on them. It's like they were grabbed from the dirty clothes pile. Called to have room cleaned. Came back in for the day after a long day of adventure and the Sheets were gone, trash still in room and We at least had clean sheets folded on the bed for us to make the bed. Suck a nice Looking hotel has went from Amazing to Run down in just a matter of a few years. All because they don't know how to Hire the right people. Went to get breakfast Monday Mor ing and the Caucasian Front Desk lady was Laughing loud at me and she came off as not friendly when I went to add 2 days on my stay. Which I did that becsuse I finally had clean sheets and needed time before I got back on the road. Just a horrible experience. If they did a Diamond Member and Hilton Shareholder like this just imagine what they'll do to you. I don't recommend this hotel. At this rate it will look worst than a Motel 6 in the next few years. Neglect and the worst Employees in the...
Read moreWe come here for my partners business trips about every two weeks for six months usually we stay two nights this time it was four nights. We like this location best because it has the pool and hot tub. We even go out of the way a bit because we have liked it so much. The first stays were great. The other Hamptons give us doggie bags a note for the door and two waters which is such a nice touch. We don’t get those here but the dog is still welcome and there’s a nice space outside to walk him. No bags tho so bring your own. I hate to give a crap review because I want this place to stay here but the service is terrible. If you get anyone at the front desk they are incompetent. The coffee is often out and they don’t refill it like the other Hamptons we stay at, nor is there fruit available. The rooms are getting bad too this time we had no office chair no cups for coffee and no shampoo or conditioner. Additionally, the body wash was completely MIA. The fridge had mold In it. I bring my own stuff but this time I forgot and so it was untimely. When the missing chair was brought in the guy just barged in the door no knocking or anything!!! He said he didn’t realize we were in the room. I feel like they have slim to no communication down there. That’s all whatever but here’s the kicker!!! We put the “still enjoying the room” sign on the door and left for the afternoon. We came back and our garbages having been taken and random garbage bags like a Fred Meyer bag (that had food in it I was planning on returning) were gone. The toilet paper was new, but there was an extra roll so not really needed. Still no shampoo, conditioner, body wash, or cups. The bummer is I had tax documents, social security statements, pay stubs, and medical records. I had no intention of leaving that trash I was taking it home to shred. Also, when we decided to stay another night (around ten am) we booked another night and she told the guy right then we would be staying and gave us new keys. THE SIGN WAS ALSO ON THE DOOR! There was no reason for anyone to come in our room and take care of half the job. They made it right by going through the trash and getting it back to me ( what they could find ) which was appreciated. Had we left our dog while we grabbed something out of the car or grabbed lunch, I don’t think he would have responded well. Had I been napping & someone came in it would have been hostile, I carry and have PTSD. I’m so glad this wasn’t the case. Last time we were here we had a room with pink sparkly paint all over the chair and island dresser plus no lampshade at all on one of the nightstands. It’s going downhill quickly the entire staff is unfriendly minus the breakfast lady who will warm and serve a new dish of gravy when asked. I observed that and was happy at least one person goes above and beyond here, bless her! She was busy yet helpful and friendly. It should be said that the manager Miss Cosby happily printed some papers for us and that was very helpful and kind. The hours are wrong on the pool and hot tub as well that say 6am but don’t open till seven am (the extra hour of sleep would have been great) I would like this place to stay and be successful our first couple months were great! Hopefully this review can initiate...
