My favorite pizza, but not my favorite pizza place. Taste is subjective. I love their pizza, but it's way too expensive for pizza. If you intend to get pizza for a kids party, for example, maybe get a small one for you from here, but for the rest, literally anywhere else will do (even Costco, the absolute cheapest pre-baked pizza in town). In fact, I'd say Round Table for most party meal instances would give this place a run for their pizza.
I subtracted a star for just not the best value for the money. That is, it often takes too long even if you order online for a specific time for pick up; it's hardly ever on time regardless of what time you put down for pick up; and, the pizza is literally just too expensive just based on the ingredients and the production costs. So even though the pizza is great-tasting, it's not gourmet enough to pay gourmet prices for it.
I subtracted another half-star because you are no longer able to actually enjoy the ambiance of this place where they used to have the model train go around a track just below the ceiling; I think since after-COVID, it's mostly take out now. They have all these chairs...so you can wait for your order because as I said, it's hardly ever on time. They have the video games available while you wait. Seriously. they could just get a smaller place in decrease the overhead costs of maintaining this piece of real estate.
And, I took off another half-star for their drivers who sometimes think they're WRC race drivers while on residential streets. I get it! The drivers need to deliver pizza quick, but the minute you hit a kid in one of those residential neighborhoods is the minute delivering pizza on time isn't going to matter. So, just chill with the speed on the streets! But, the speeding thing literally goes for most companies that do delivery anyway; that includes UPS, Amazon, FedEx, etc., this is especially true for the worst offenders, the "side-gig" drivers delivering for multiple companies in their KIA's...
Read moreProbably eaten about 20 'zas from this joint over the last two or three years. I wanted to leave a review because I really appreciate the effort that the Pizza Caboose crew does to get the details right on every order. I live close by and love that they do their own delivery. After a hectic week where my kitty had to have his toof extracted, then my car was jacked - right from my own apt lot, and then I cut my hand wide open.... I needed some comfort food... I ordered a pizza on my cheat day. They delivered a beutiful pizza that unfortunately had too much cheese on it. I asked for light cheese and extra sauce because I am lactose intolerant. They totally remade it and sent me a PERFECT pizza. I was so hungry by the time the second pizza showed up, but it was worth it. Before the great panini, I would order one or two of their specialty pizzas when I would host Art Nights at my apartment. Everyone loved the pizza. After a long skate sesh with some gals? We order Pizza Caboose. Most of my younger life I have worked as a pizza chef across the midwest. I even had a Pizza Resume at one point... I've worked at dive bars and 4 star pizza restaurants... I've probably worked at over 20 pizza-centered restaurants during my travels in life. I can honestly say I have never made a pizza quite like the ones I get at Pizza Caboose. The crust is really soft and chewy without being doughy or yeasty. Theres a nice crispness to it that you can cronch into, but also really sink your teeth into. It's pretty fricken' magical. Thanks for being so awesome PC!
Read moreIf you like good pizza this place probably isn't for you. We ordered a pepperoni and a Canadian bacon with pineapple. Both arrived as a medium dish and, at first reminded me a bit of old-school Pizza Hut (as did the the plates and general vibe of the place). Unfortunately, the pizza was very average--maybe even below average. The crust was golden brown on the bottom and had some crunch, but seemed overcooked. I'm usually one to enjoy eating my pizza crust and I skipped these. Too dry. There were plenty of pepperoni on the pizza but with too much mozzarella. We also ordered a cheese bread, which was flat out gross. I'm nearly certain it was microwaved, as the bread was doughy soft and the cheese an overly melted mess. The marinara that came with it arrived on a prepacked plastic container, indicating to me that there is likely nothing special about the in-house sauces being used. Over all, the pizza reminded me of something overpriced and likely to be found at a low-bar amusement park. We ate at lunch time on a Sunday and we're one of two parties in the place. There were plenty of employees though, so maybe their delivery game is strong.
Bathrooms were tiny and difficult to navigate, but clean. Ambiance was interesting (trains) but the model train advertised to cruise around the joint was not operating. The old-school video games, while cool to look at and a potentially good pairing for this place, all took our quarters without any game play. Staff weren't too concerned with helping us with the lost quarters.
TL,DR: we'll let this one cruise on down the...
