Literally the worst bagels we could have ever imagined. My partner and I were excited to try them due to all the generally good reviews they had, and boy were we disappointed. The bagels were small and puny (not just diameter, but also weight of them), and they tasted worst than white bread you'd get from the store. Not at all yeast-tasting like normal bagels. The color was also pale, indicating that they don't cook them long enough (taste also reflects that). They weren't fluffy on the inside, didn't have ANY chew whatsoever (a good bagel should work your jaw just enough. Not go straight into your stomach like wonder-bread). These comments are true of their plain AND everything bagel, and although the everything didn't come squished like the plain one, the everything was easily squishy as a bun you'd get from some rinky-dink fast food joint (like FacePlant). They also didn't ask if we wanted them toasted or not! We ordered them to go...what if we wanted to toast them ourselves for later? Inconsiderate to say the least. The associate at the counter also gave misleading info. The first question we had was "which bagels are vegan?" to which she responds "all of them!". Then, as we're ordering, she says "the only one that's not vegan is the cheese one". Gee, I guess they're not ALL vegan if ONE of them is NOT! That's a contradiction. Careless. The only upside was the undeniably cute atmosphere. Decor was on point, felt very cafe-like. Too bad the food and service...
Read moreI've been here twice with friends to use a back room called 'The Den' (seats about 20 -25 people). This room can be reserved, not sure of the pricing since I was a guest.
Both times I've gone they set it up with drinks (water and ice tea), a table with chips, salad, and three kinds of sandwich (turkey, ham, and veggie). The room has three tables with chairs and a couple of comfy chairs. There is also a screen for easy power point, slide show, or video sharing. This space is really nice and quiet for group meetings or would be a nice space for a family gathering. I think if you had more than 30 people it could feel cramped. The room is really close to the bathrooms and exits right on to the patio, so you don't have to navigate the rest of the restaurant.
The food is delicious, fresh, and filing. They use a really hearty bread and tasty sauces in their sandwiches. I like that there is a purely veggie sandwich for the vegetarians.
The building itself has outside seating that gets nicely shaded and plenty of indoor seating. It seems like a clean and trendy breakfast/lunch spot.
Biggest issue: Parking is extremely limited. There are a few handicap spots and you'd really want to get one of those spots if you had a hard time walking. I did manage to find parking about a block away and it was a relatively short walk slightly uphill on...
Read moreIm 71. Ive been around. This is my favorite coffee/food stop in Oregon. Fantastic group of employees. They even have drip coffee. Isnt a sit down type dinner restaurant but they have a lot of seating and can take small event groups, along with a very good morning and mid day menu. Very good quality food offerings. Try the Todd Schmod ( I think thats the spelling) blueberry scone. (Edit) after reading a few negative reviews Im compelled to add comments. Being an area native, Ive gone there almost every day since it opened.. Ive never encountered what several said about 'being too loud' or rudeness from employees etc. Never. My wife and I have spent decades going to eateries all over the western USA and I ran several restaurants in the past, and have been in the service industry since 1979. Here is my take---if I were to open a place like Well & Good myself, it woud be exactly the same. Id even try to steal their employees--the nicest bunch with whom Ive ever had the pleasure of...
