Iām giving it 4ā¦ā¦there is room for improvement but I really feel like this place is, overall, on the right track. I stayed for a bit over two months. Hereās the highlights. Positive: -the rooms keep warm. Not sure how this is during the summer but with a working AC should be fine. But never once woke up cold even if I fell asleep without turning the heater on even when the temps reached freezing outside. Did air the room out a few times just to bring some fresh air in. -Staff is really friendly. Gonna single out Yuri, great guy to talk to, attentive, always made sure what I had if I came in the evening which is when Iād usually come in since I worked 7-7 most days. -Set back in a business park area. While itās freeway-close there isnāt a lot of noise. Once I closed my room I couldnāt hear the highway at all. -Close to the freeway and to places to shop and eat. Winco and Walmart are about a 20 minute walk and Fred Meyer is about 30, so if you donāt have a vehicle while they arenāt right next door you could still pick up necessities. -Transient population isnāt really an issue here. I think some people here are Section 8/transitional but there werenāt any encampments or anything of that nature on or near the grounds. -24 hour laundry room. Perfect for longer-term stays, and the price is comparable to local coin ops that I found (maybe a few cents more but you donāt have to drive anywhere and itās access-card restricted.) I donāt recommend trying to do laundry on Sunday evenings though. Seems like everyone is in doing it then. But mid-afternoon and late night you are usually fine. -The laundry room does have vending machines in case you are hungry or thirsty and donāt want to leave. Not enough to make a meal out of, but good for snacking. The vending machines also sell laundry detergent, static sheets for the dryer, and a few basic travel needs (like a travel toothbrush and toothpaste.)
What Iād like to see: -Housekeeping is supposed to be every two weeks, but I only saw it once, about six weeks in. You can, of course, go to the front desk to get fresh towels and sheets and such, but a little more attention to the rooms would be good. I have read complaints about the rooms being dirty but honestly mine seemed fine overall, just some dust built up because Iām a solo traveler staying long term who didnāt have a lot of free time to clean. Someone said the managerās response to this at one point was āitās a two star hotel, what did you expect?ā But honestlyā¦..as a longer-term guest, I expected the room to get a little dirty because having daily housekeeping seemed unreasonable and I didnāt have time to clean up much myself. And if the manager they were talking about is Gabriel, I met him a few times, he struck me as a pretty nice guy trying to staff a hotel during a time when a lot of people donāt seem to want to work. -I donāt think safety is a huge issue, and I never had a direct issue with another guest or had anyone disturb me in my room. But the room next to me very clearly had illegal activity going on in it, and it became more noticeable as time went on with the last week of my stay being the worst of it. Most of it was simple people coming and going at all hours. I did smell something through the vents that I suspect was an illegal substance (left a window slightly ajar when I left with the stick keeping it from being wider or being pushed open to help air circulate.) I do not blame the hotel for this, but one thing I think could be of benefit is an increased presence of staff or some kind of security walking the grounds at night. I also noticed that things got worse after a tenant got evicted. Before they were evicted the police would come through the grounds pretty frequently. Once the eviction happened the police stopped patrolling the lot and I noticed that the suspicious behavior in the room next to me increased significantly. So developing a relationship with local PD and having them patrol the lot even once or twice per night as part of their rounds...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt felt like we were lied to at every turn with this hotel.
When we checked in, we asked for
We had a maintenance issue with our AC/heater unit. We checked in around Thanksgiving so it was understandable if no one was available for a non emergency repair, however we were told it would be put on the maintenance queue.
Then I slipped and fell in the bath tub and had to go to the emergency room, thankfully no breaks or concussion but missed several days of work due to back spasms. We were told on multiple occasions that the manager would send us an accident report when she returned from Thanksgiving vacation. When we never received it, we inquired again and were told the manager had a family emergency and had to be away longer. However, why wouldn't this be escalated to whomever was covering for the manager, it felt like there was no plan whatsoever to cover the managerial duties.
We were told when we checked in that housekeeping would come weekly. We didn't see them the first week, but again Thanksgiving so that's understandable. When they didn't show up the following week we were then told they come every two weeks and we were scheduled for that week. When they didn't come on the day we were told, we inquired with the front desk and we were never put on their list. We also inquired about the heater/AC and were told they would move it up the queue. We also inquired about the incident report and were told that the manager was still out.
Housekeeping came the next day and did nothing. They watched us strip the bedding handed us new sheets and left, we had to make our own bed. They didn't sweep or clean the bathroom. We went out and bought our own cleaning equipment.
We checked in with the front desk several days later and inquired about the incident report again. We were told that the manager had never returned from her family emergency, and no one could reach her.
The final straw came when the water main broke at the hotel. The first day nothing was done, there wasn't even any communication with any of the guests about it, they simply shut the water off and seemed to book more guests into the hotel. They offered to move us to another ESA, but it was about an hour away and was too far away from my position. That night we got our own hotel room at another location.
We returned the next day, water was still off then I went to my long day of work. When I returned we inquired at the front desk about what was going on with the water. We were told that they were digging and expected water back on that night or early the next morning. They were "kind" enough to provide us with one gallon of water and two water bottles. We couldn't even flush the toilet with the one gallon. We then purchased more water so we could flush and do a minimal sponge bath the next morning.
The next day water had still not been turned on, we called the front desk and were told they were at the mercy of the plumber and the city of Tigard. As I was leaving for work I finally saw heavy equipment in the parking lot, but they had not started digging. Also during this call, it was accidently let slip that the property has no maintenance person on staff. So there was a huge dog and pony show being put on about the whole adding our situation to the queue and making it a larger priority.
I desperately need to shower multiple times daily for my job, so I had to contact my contractor company and ask to be moved hotels. They were kind enough to change me over to the competition for the remainder of my contract.
My wife had to pack up all of our food and clothing while I was at work. When she left around 1pm they finally restored the water. My wife mentioned the heater. How can a hotel be occupied for three days without running water? When she checked out she mentioned the incident report and was told the insurance company would...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCan I give 0 stars? Let's just start with this:
Mice in my room.
I was originally given room 270. Upon entering, fridge did not work, Microwave did not work, and stove hood vent did not work. I discovered the hood vent didn't work when I tried to use the stove and the heating elements reeked of burnt plastic and burned off noxious fumes into the room. There was a spare microwave placed on the table by a previous guest or ownership with no glass turntable, so it was still unusable. Shower head was not fully attached and sprayed water everywhere. Sheets had hair on them.
Between all of this, my room key demagnetized at least half a dozen times sitting in my pocket, not next to any magnets or metal. Every time I went back to the office to fix my keycard, I got bathe in the scent of the lovely overstuffed trashcans in the stairwells that looked like they hadn't been tended to in weeks.
I reported this to the front desk and asked for another room. They gave me room 106. I inspected it before I went in, and at first glance it looked cleaner and things worked so I unpacked again. The condenser in the fridge had frozen over, and my food was warm within a few hours and needed to be thrown away. Around 10pm, the mice came out to play. I was lying in bed when the biggest mouse I've ever seen ran around the bathroom corner and under my bedside table. I thought I was seeing things. I waited about 15 seconds and it retreated back toward the kitchen. I was unable to find it after this, but I assume it was living behind the fridge somewhere.
Again, I called the front desk and told them about the mice. "Oh, that's not good." They offered to move me to ANOTHER room, and I told them I was done with the Tigard location and if they could transfer me to another location. Within a quick amount of time, the front desk clerk called me back and told me that the Beaverton location on 158th would take me for the night. I left some cheese out for the mouse.
It's now midnight and I arrive at the Beaverton location after packing up AGAIN. I was offered room 120. Fool me 3 times, I think not. I inspected the room again before I brought anything in. Upon opening the door, the pungent smell of body odor and soggy carpet smacked me in the face. At this point, I'm out. It'll take some serious convincing for me to ever come back to this chain ever again.
I was supposed to stay for over 2 weeks, and ended up leaving this hotel after 3 rooms in 4 days. I'll be asking for a...
