The Little Book Store Clayton Store — Local services in Town of Clayton

Honestly I feel bad about giving an independent book seller a poor rating because it is a dying industry that needs support. That being said I was disappointed with my experience because of a very specific reason. They have mystery book shelf (books wrapped in paper so you don't know what they are, with descriptive tags to entice the reader). The shelf has a sign that says 20% off of these books. So far so good. I love the idea because many times the best books are gifted and things you wouldn't find on your own. The book was marked $20 and on my receipt (texted to me, unseen before leaving the store) it says I paid $20. To make matters worse the price marked directly on the book is $17. So not only did I not get 20% off but I in fact paid more than I would anywhere else for a mystery book. I still love the concept and didn't even care what book I received because that's part of the fun but being ripped off is not...

The woman tending the store was so sweet, we talked quite a while about books we love to read, different authors, etc. She recommended several books she thought I might like. It's not very often that you walk into a bookstore and are immediately greeted with "What type of book do you like to read?". I was so excited to see this new shop in Clayton and even more impressed when we walked inside! For a small shop, it is beautifully curated with a wide range of subjects and the owner really knows her books. She gave us great recommendations and we walked out with books for us and for gifts.
