Check-in was smooth. The two older women that greeted us were friendly. Gave us cabin #87, (pretty cool since we were celebrating our 30th anniversary... married in 1987) which we were told was 'brand new'...was nice, but didn't appear as such. Had a slight odor to the linens and some water stains on bathroom caulking. Needs darker curtains to block out light and during cold weather you need the extra heater provided in the bathroom to supplement for heat. It was a pretty cold night. Baseboard at highest temp was not sufficient. We were grateful to get a place for the night at the last minute though after having an emergency with our car breaking down. Breakfast at the Lodge/office was great and the server was friendly. Check out person was not so personable. We asked to stay another night and #87 was not available. She stated they had two motel rooms left (as she kept her back to me). I asked if there was any kind of odor in the rooms and she said 'no' so I went ahead and booked thinking we had no other choice anyway with no car. We checked out the room and I found there was an odor and also realized the room is right beneath the upper deck of a restaurant/bar. Wanting to spare her feelings, I didn't mention the bad odor (I mean they have to know there is or else they wouldn't have the window open to air it out) so I asked if it was possible to cancel (once I called around and found a motel room in town) based on the location of the room. She insisted there would be no noise from the restaurant/ bar area but I couldn't trust that so I told her there was an odor issue as well. She was nice enough but a little reluctant to issue a refund after getting permission from management. I am grateful she did and felt it was only fair. We attempted using Uber for the first time but none in the area. We googled taxi services...none close enough. We just needed a ride down the hill and around the corner with all of our luggage. She and two other employees were on their smoke break while I was attempting to reach a taxi service so I stood near the office door but out of the way to avoid the smoke. They were about finished and I was desperate since I could find no ride so I asked if any of them would be available to give us a ride down the street for $20. She stated that she wouldn't allow that since they had to get back to work, which is understandable...but then I heard a remark something like 'I probably could have made 50 bucks'. After their break was over they came to where we were and told us we couldn't stand there because we were in the way. So I stepped from outside the cubby hole but she insisted we were still in the way (quite rudely) I thought to call and ask the owners of Watkins Motel if they would be willing to pick us up... and they did! And their motel was so clean and nice and they went above and beyond! Never again,...
Read moreDo not stay at this miserable hotel. Save yourself the headache. It is not worth your time or your money. Go somewhere better and cheaper. There are plenty of cheaper AND nicer options all within 30 minutes of the area.
We went for race weekend, and I thought booking a lodge would be a cute stay. It was not. The room is bare minimum. It does not not have any typical amenities. It is $140 a night and $16 extra in taxes.
We arrived and barbra behind the desk was rude and you can tell she doesn’t like her job by how miserable she acts. She did not look at us and did not say hello. For such an expensive place, acting rude is not a good look.
She did not acknowledge us or say anything until we waited a minute standing there, and I asked if we should check in at the bar. Then she said we check in here.
We went to our room. The lock didn’t work. The room did smell of cigar because the neighbor smoking. It’s allowed to smoke on the porch, but be aware the smell can be in the room. The excuse they give is they can’t control what other people do. Oops.
The ac did not work. There is no fridge or microwave. There are not nightstands on both sides of the bed. The outlets are hard to reach. The room is stained with mosquitoes and bug guts all over the walls and ceilings. There are also lots of bugs in the room. That makes sense, the door opens to the outside. But there’s no traps or anything to try to even catch them. And once again, the desk ladies have no control of course. They’re really good at abstaining from any responsibilities, and they’ll die by their policy. Because the family just wants your money and does not care about your stay or your experience. They truly just want to make as much money as possible and absolutely refuse refunds or partial refunds or anything.
We left early. We will never come back here. You should not either. They’re a greedy and...
Read moreAfter doing a wine tour on Seneca Lake for a bachelorette party we went to dinner at the Seneca Lodge on Sat Oct 12th, 2019. We called them early in the day to let them know we would be coming as they do NOT take reservations. When we arrived the table was ready for us in 5 minutes. They then assigned a very young male server to our table of 13 ladies again attending a bachelorette party. The server took our drink order which was a few soda's, a coffee and waters, it took over 10 minutes for the drinks to come. 2 people at the table ordered appetizers, these took almost 25 minutes to come out. The salad bar that comes with the meal was just okay, the rolls were cold and the cornbread muffins were under cooked. It took over an hour for our food to arrive and then some of it was cold. Once we received our food no ONE checked on us. We had one person who did not like her food and didn't eat. Someone in our party then convinced the young waiter to split the checks though he was not supposed. His supervisor then came over and scolded us for convincing him to do separate checks and told us we needed to go to the counter to pay and that they needed the table. We were not offered any desserts and no compensation, nor did anyone help the kid with our table. This was definitely a fail on the team lead/shift supervisor/manager, when I went to approach her regarding the person who did not eat her comment was "He blew it on your table" yet she was the one that so rudely told us she needed the table. The whole experience was awful and the prices for what you get are not great either. I live in a larger city where most restaurants are at the same price range as the Seneca Lodge but the quality so much better. I was very disappointed as a couple of my friends raved...
