Stellar Brews, But the Food Could Use a Tune-Up.
Seneca Lodge Craft Brewing truly shines when it comes to their beer selection. Each beer we sampled, from the IPAs to the peach blonde, hit the mark with its distinct flavor profile. However, the food experience was markedly different.
The burgers we ordered missed the mark in terms of cooking grade, with each one appearing overcooked compared to our specified preference. Coupled with stale buns and lackluster meat, the overall taste left us wanting. Similarly, the steak sandwich was a letdown, presenting as an unseasoned, overcooked cut on a stale piece of toast. Regrettably, on this occasion, even a fast food option could have elevated our dining experience.
Nevertheless, the top-notch quality of the beers does salvage the overall experience to some extent, thus justifying our 3-star rating. If you're a beer lover, Seneca Lodge Craft Brewing won't disappoint. But if you're coming hungry, it might be wise to manage your food expectations or explore other dining...
Read moreWhat to say about this brewery? Driving up, you'd have no idea there's a brewery here. It's a 1950s-ish motel and restaurant styled in that outdoorsy cabin motif. Enter through the bustling big restaurant space, wind your way past the salad bar, and nestled in the back is this extremely unique bar. There aren't exactly two competing themes, but you can't miss either. The entire space of the bar and surrounding seating is all racing decorations (posters, flags, you name it). Watkins Glen race track's nearby, and this place is clearly dedicated to all things racing. Also, behind the bar are fifty million arrows sticking out of the wall like a vertical pincushion.
They had an amber or red ale on tap. It was good, and the bartender served up fresh ones automatically and without even...
Read moreWe stayed one night in one of the cabins. Check in was great and friendly. For $100 it was fine . Basic but clean. Bed was pretty old. Box spring and old so when one of us moved we both moved (like an air mattress). Perfect location as you can walk into the state park and do the amazing gorge trail. It's a 5 minute walk to the trailhead at the south entrance.
The bar was very cool and I liked the beers especially the peach blonde.
Dinner was overpriced and disappointing however. We had the deep fried scallops with fries , breaded shrimp with broccoli. Portions were small for the money paid and left us disappointed. I think they are charging a premium for not having any local competition without going into town. The place is ok but I wish we had...
