They stay was fine until the manager Justin decided to kick my family out on the street with no reasoning or real warning at all. He knew we were waiting for our housing to be ready and we would need a long term stay. We already expressed to him that my fiancé was carrying twins and dealing with a high risk pregnancy , we have 4 little children ranging from ages of 8 months- 5 years old and we had an agreement that every two weeks we would be extending our reservation until we were notified of our moving date . Well needless to say we renewed our reservation for another two weeks and half way into that the hotel manager Justin claimed that we were scheduled to check out in 4 days ! My fiancé and I were confused but we were told not to worry about the mishap and reassured that there would certainly be a cancellation anyway so extending again would not be an issue . The next few days we did not hear anything about having to leave even after expressing concern several times so we figured it would be just like any other time where we would pay and stay another two weeks . The day of “checkout” my fiancé decided to contact the front desk and was told by the same manager we had been dealing with this whole time that we did in fact have to leave ; this was at 11 am an hour before we were supposed to checkout . My fiancé was under a high amount of stress , our youngest was sick and I had to take our other children to families so that we could pack quickly . While I was gone staff came knocking on the door over 6 times even leading to a slight confrontation between my fiancé and Justin because she explained to them several times that she was there alone 6 months pregnant packing all of the things we accumulated over the past two months on her OWN and he could careless . He kept insisting that she give him a time and basically said if we go past four we will be charged . I think it’s insane to do this to a family let alone people who have paid on time from the very beginning , never broke rules , never any trouble … etc . He knew we had no other arrangements and how hard it is to get a hotel last minute but he could honestly care less . It made no sense to us but then we started looking into it and realized that after a guest is in a hotel for over a certain period of time they start having certain rights . They also may not be able to change rates or tax for certain things . This was all about money and it’s a shame. They kept screwing up our acct with...
Read moreI booked this hotel to rest and recover after major abdominal surgery. During my stay at the Residence Inn, I had multiple issues: Hot water not hot, rude staff, not following CDC Covid-19 protocol, conflicting information between Marriott App and hotel staff on room availability, issues with extending stay and using Bonvoy points. The front desk staff sent the Engineer immediately to fix the water issue however, he entered my room without wearing his mask. In another incident, the smoke alarm was triggered, and another employee entered my room without wearing a mask or announcing herself. The next issue was extending my stay. The staff was unclear of availability and was overbooked. They were able to extend my stay one of two nights requested but did not use my Bonvoy points. I spoke to the clerk the next day to check availability as the app stated a room was available however I could not book with points. The clerk saw the same room but needed to confirm with manager and stated he would contact me; he did not. On Sunday, I called the front desk to inquire about my previous request to extend my stay and the clerk said the hotel was sold out. Since I was unable to stay another night at the hotel, I then requested a late check out for 2pm (I am a Bonvoy Elite Gold member). The clerk rudely stated “no the hotel is booked.” Again, I asked him to accommodate the later check out due to my medical circumstances and he replied “no, we are booked.” Upset with his rude tone and unwillingness to be helpful or accommodating, I called back and asked for a manager. The same clerk who I spoke to previously stated no managers were available, but he could assist. I informed him of my medical situation and asked for at least a 1pm checkout to allow time to pack up. He went on about being fully booked and if I stayed past noon, I would be charged a late check out fee. At this point I was very upset and let him know I would be checking out at 1pm and if housekeeping needed to begin cleaning this room, they may enter. After arguing back and forth about the matter, the clerk eventually agreed to the 1pm check out time. This individual posing as acting manager, needs to be retrained on conflict resolution and friendlier customer service. This matter could have easily been resolved had he listened to my concerns and tried to be accommodating. Going forward, I hope Marriott follows local CDC protocols to protect guest during this highly...
Read moreWe thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Despite it being a busy, holiday, week(end) they gave us a late checkout until 1pm (!!) which we were incredibly grateful for since this allowed us to take our time and for our toddler to take their full nap before we left. ||I really appreciated the functional layout of the room- it was great to have so much room to spread out, provide a play area for our kid, put all our stuff away and have a functional kitchen to prepare and store food. It also allowed us to put him to bed and have an area where we could quietly hang out afterwards. ||The location was ideal for all we wanted to do (go out to eat, shop, go to Jones Beach, take the train into the city for the afternoon etc etc) and the free parking was a huge plus. Our kid also loved Eisenhower Park which was essentially right next door.||There is no bar or restaurant but you can buy a limited selection of stuff at the front desk (including wine/beer). We ended up just ordering from DoorDash and sticking up at the near by Total Wines and it was just fine. Breakfast was a bit bland but appreciated nonetheless. ||Our only real complaint was that we booked a room with a king size bed and we were given one with a queen. The name on the TV that "welcomes" you as a guest was also not mine, so I have to wonder if they switched our room with someone else. Typically this wouldn't bother me a ton, but we sleep with our toddler in the bed with us when we travel, so this made for a significantly less comfy sleeping situation. ||Other than the bed size, everything about our stay was wonderful. It was comfy and convenient and quiet which was all we really wanted. We will definitely consider staying here again next...
