This hotel was easily the worst hotel I've ever stayed at in my life. I am not making this statement lightly, as I have stayed at many hotels in sketchy locations before (middle of nowhere motel on the way to Boston, run down motel in drinker area of Ocean City) and I have been absolutely unbothered. A place to stay is a place to stay. My friend and I were looking for a cheap place to stay last minute because our Air BnB cancelled on us. We saw this hotel at a cheap price ($71/night) and decided to book it. The bad reviews on here were evident, but because we had weathered such sketchy hotels in the past with no problem, we decided to go for it anyway. When we got there to check in, there was a long line at the front desk because the card maker was broken. The low numbered staff of TWO employees at the hotel were showing people to their rooms and unlocking them for them instead of giving guests room keys to use. For the short time we were waiting, we were able to see the dimly lit "ballroom" right off the lobby full of cleaning supplies and dust. It looked eerie. Same with the "bar" behind it that was also pitch black and filled with sheet covered furniture. My friend and I had dinner reservations to make so we changed in the public bathroom and left before the line had diminished in the slightest. When we got back, thankfully, the key reader was working, so we were able to access our room. On the walk there, we had a good view of the pool then which was "under renovation". It looked like a hole in the ground filled with black murky water covered in caution tape and bright orange lattice. Doesn't look like the renovation has started. The third floor is also abandoned so only two floors are open. The hallways look straight out of The Shining. Our room was the only highlight of the trip. It seemed clean with comfortable mattresses and good internet connection. The bathroom was fine, but the water in the sink barely came out of the faucet and there was no hot water in either the shower or the sink. Whenever any water was turned on throughout the hotel, there was a high pitched noise heard in our room making it hard to fall asleep or stay asleep. The walls were also paper thin, so you are able to hear any noise coming from the hallway or rooms beside you. I barely slept from the combination of the noises and the feeling of being unsafe in our room. In the morning, I went down to get coffee from the free continental breakfast. The food seemed fine, but I didn't eat anything from it because we were going out to breakfast. When we checked out, the employees at the front desk were very kind to us, but the damage was already done. If I could do it all over again, I would've spent the extra money on a nicer hotel, and that's saying something because I consider myself to be a pretty frugal person. DO NOT STAY HERE. The extra money is worth it to stay...
Read moreI surely would advise anyone that has future plans on traveling to Ithaca, NY not to book a room at the Trip Hotel Ithaca. After my experience I have deemed my stay at this establishment as the trip from Hell and I absolutely do not want any other travelers to experience all the lies that I did while there. This place promotes a safe environment and it is not. Their parking lot does not even have any lights on and is very dark. Furthermore there parking lot also needs to be paved expeditiously as it had huge pot holes throughout. This place needs some serious renovations as the carpet throughout the building took me back to the 1970's. The only difference between the carpet back then and the carpet at the Trip Hotel is that the 1970's carpet was clean back then. However in 2019 darn near 50 years later their carpet at this place is/was just dirty as well as outdated. The Trip Hotel promises a hot breakfast each morning at 7 o'clock am. You can probably figure out at this point in my review that this of course is just another falsehood at the Trip Hotel. Upon going to their eating area for this so-called hot breakfast that they promote one will find out that it's actually catered in and on most early morning breakfast occurrences it's actually not catered in at all. The guest are then told that the hot breakfast has been canceled and thereafter promised that it will be here the next day (Oh my; I saw so many disappointed faces) . Sadly I still bit the banana from the tale pipe and that next Saturday morning the breakfast was catered in to the Trip Hotel alright, but that catered in breakfast arrived at 8 o'clock am (Not 7). Thus it was not very hot and/or fresh for that matter. As to safety and securit, their perimeter doors were propped open (not locked) all night and very cold winds were accessible to enter their facilities. In closing the prices they charge to book a room here are totally outrageous and this should not be so. Heck I should've known not to rent a room here when I called this tripped out hotel time and time again and their on site staff personnel never answered their phones. All in all if the city of Ithaca's municipalities are not going to shut this place down; we the people must stop booking here in hopes to shut it down ourselves. This Trip Hotel is literally a trip; meaning it's horribly a terrible place for anyone to safely stay for a weekend or any other time of the week, month,...
Read moreI hope someone is reading this before booking- despite the cheap price just DON’T!!! I wish I could have give 0 stars. We have visited Itacha and wanted hotel just for the night so searched for something cheap. We literally expected nothing fancy but sure thought it’ll be at least decent. This was probably the worst hotel I’ve been too!!! We are parking the car confused if we’re at the right place since everything around us is empty. No cars. We go to check in, looks pretty normal for a cheap fat hotel and ready to go to the room, even though the hotel was empty, they put us in the 3rd (and highest) floor when knowing the elevator isn’t working and we have suitcases. OK. just the way to the stairs was too weird, long and floated with water!!! We get to The room and fall asleep- not that’s where everything is going far crazy. Around 3am and out of nowhere- THE FIRE ALARM GOES OFF!!!!!!! I can’t describe with words the feeling! Waking up in the middle of the night to the probably loudest sound I have ever heard in the middle of this abandoned hotel. I was screaming, crying and mostly feeling as hopeless as I could and thankful to my husband that was there to make sure it’ll turn off. We went down to the receptionist just for him to tell us that “oh yeah it happens here sometimes when it rains, the ceiling is leaking” and my husband asked if they are going to somehow take responsibility and do something since waking up like this in a hotel is unacceptable and the guy just got annoyed and said there is nothing they can do. We went back to the room, couldn’t fall asleep again and very disappointed. We did not expect anything but a normal and clean place to stay for the night and we did not get it. We don’t understand why they even let people stay there when this is the situation and why on the top floor if they know the ceiling leaks. They ended of giving us $30 off of the bill after talking with them again in The following morning. We sure did expect a better apology from them (it really had nothing to do with the bill) and we are definitely NOT RECOMMENDING this hotel no...
