A typical sandwich and breakfast place with a bakery component built into it. Known for their bagels for many years as well as great hearty sandwiches with think sliced fresh breads and stuffed with plentiful amounts of ingredients and especially delightful was the turkey sandwich. So here is the issue thigh I rate this a 4 star and not a five is based on the value proposition. Where once they provided good quality food, good portions and pricing that was not only very competitive, but also made you feel that the owners do not have their hands in your pocket/wallet. Turn to present day, this combination is no longer except for good quality product and decent - not good, decent portions that really don’t wow you and are therefor no longer creating a real point of differentiation except for the fact of bakery freshness. And this is where they likely justify beyond reasonable pricing. Companies need to make money and pay staff well. Price by and costs have increased - but this is beyond. Example. Super small homemade cookie $1.25, turkey sandwichs over $10 plus tax - yes creative and maybe appearing gourmet - but not justifying the price at all. So, the value is if you don’t care about the price and/or portion and seek a local hangout to eat and be merry with good quality product and a clean but average environment - go to this place and you’ll be happy. There are some products in the pastry area that are decently priced but on the whole most are beyond overpriced and being intimately familiar with the foodservice industry for more that three decades am quite familiar with what I am seeing. No knock to ownership it’s their prerogative to charge what they want and yield the margins they do according to their business plan such as higher profit, more money or the same with less customer as an example - power to them and who am I to tell these people who appear to be running a successful business for some time, what to do - right?? Of course. For me it’s about informing you the customer of what you need to know before you decide to spend your cash so you know what you’re going to receive and if this works then all is good. Enjoy and again,...
Read moreHusband and I stopped by at 6:30pm on Friday (they close at 7pm on Fridays) to grab a quick sandwich thinking that 30 minutes was plenty of time, especially considering there were no customers in line and maybe 3 parties left still eating at the location. We didn't love the premade options, so we grabbed a menu to see if we could pick out two quick sandwiches. No one was at the front, but then we heard a voice yell "it's 6:40, 20 minutes left." It was 6:30pm, and it felt like they were yelling it on purpose to get us to leave. We dropped the menus and left. It was a disappointing experience. I've lived here most of my life and respect and like Ithaca Bakery/CTB. We understood that they were closing at 7pm (30 minutes after we arrived), but it would've been nice to have been greeted by someone and for them to say "hey, we are closing at 7pm and can't make XYZ..."
Hopefully this was an isolated thing, but we will definitely think twice before going to this location again. The East Hill Plaza location is usually our go-to and I have great...

Sunday afternoon April 4th 2021, the white female cashier shaked the tip can TWICE to me after I ordered a cup of latte. She stared at me without saying anything. After I checked my wallet and told her I did not have any cash, she showed me a clearly unhappy face.
This was definitely descrimation. I stayed by the line and she never shaked that tip can again to any other customer, even they ordered a bunch of things and did not pay any tips.
To that rude white female middle-aged cashier: That cup of latte, you did not even make it. What makes you think you deserve some tip??? Because you shaked the tip can??? How about you go make a living standing by the traffic light and shake your plastic can???
To the shop manager: I've shopped Ithaca Bakery many times and have had nice experience. I'm really upset by what I experienced today and you're welcome if you want to contact me and learn...
