I arrived on Monday evening at approximately 1830 pm for a 3 night stay and was greeted politely by 2 ladies (one appearing to be training the other) and checked into my room. At approximately 2130, I began to hear what sounded like a rather large dog barking profusely. My immediate thought was that the owner of the dog would respectfully understand that they are in a hotel and try to calm the dog down but that didn't happen. After 45 minutes, I was fed up and could not sleep and called the front desk asking for assistance. I called the front desk and was told that they would see what they could do. The barking commence and approximately 10 minutes later the lady at the front desk called and stated that there was nothing they could do and they weren't sure how to tell which room it was coming from. I stated that is was very apparent to me and that they could probably hear it through the phone. The front desk person then said they could move me to another room but that should have obviously been a last resort. Why not remove the nuisance and not the customer attempting a resolution? I was then told that those people pay extra for a pet and nothing they could do. So you mean to tell me, since they pay more for a pet they are more deserving to a peaceful stay? This was absurd. I didn't want to get out of bed and repack all my clothes and switch rooms at 1000 pm. Night 2 was peaceful, I had hoped the disrespectful dog kennel had moved on. Night 3, the barking begins again. However, already knowing the front desk was not willing to help and that I was leaving in the morning knowing I would never return I fought through it. The final straw.... while checking out and obtaining my receipt the next morning, a different front desk lady asked me how my stay was. I said "not that good" hoping that she was concerned more than the night personnel. She immediately responds "that's great". I repeated and stated that my stay was not that good as it was obvious she had a routine and prepared question for all folks that stay at the hotel. After I shared details of my treatment, I got an very unapologetic "sorry to hear...
Read moreI have put off writing a review, hoping that a billing issue would be resolved first, but apparently Marriott is sticking to the overcharge. We booked a stay through Priceline, then extended 3 days with Priceline again....prepaid to Priceline. At the end of the 2nd stay, Mariott charged us for the 2nd stay as well! Our last extension was booked directly at the front desk. They asked if I still wanted to use the card on file, and I assumed they meant the one I have when I checked in. When we checked out, the card they were trying to use didn't work so they called and I checked with the credit card company and noticed the previous charge days before. I called back and informed them they were using the wrong card, and gave them the new information and then questioned the previous charge, because it looked like they already charged me the first day, which is odd. She insisted that was just a hold ($330 for 4 nights?...that has NEVER happened) and would not post. I even questioned how much it was as that should have been a red flag, and was assured that it wouldn't post. The next day it posted and I have been unable to resolve this with the branch or Marriott. I never received a folio after staying there and it wasn't in my Bonvoy records....also has never happened. I've sent them my Priceline receipts and credit card charges, and in exchange they just now....6 weeks later, they sent me a folio that shows us staying directly with them for 7 nights...clearly, something is going on here. We have been traveling the world for 3 years spending hundreds of nights a year at Marriotts, and never once have had an issue. We absolutely love Marriott. Unfortunately, this incident will probably make us think twice. As far as the hotel goes....we extended our stay twice and we've stayed here before. The hotel is clean and safe, in a great location, and the staff is absolutely awesome. We love staying here. I'm just not willing to spend 2x...
Read moreWe only stayed a night but wish it had been longer! This place is simply the most well-thought-out property of its kind--and we travel a lot. They get the 'big' things right, but most do. So it's the 'little' things that individually are noteworthy and, taken together, created a uniformly excellent experience. Check-in and check-out were speedy and cordial. All staff were professional and upbeat, evidencing that they find it rewarding to work there. ||The layout of our suite was exceedingly thoughtful. In particular, the closet! Doors were sensibly located to give access from the entrance/kitchen area and the bathroom. Its interior features were outstanding: places for shirts, jackets, trousers, suitcases, everything. And hooks! So often, this is a missed opportunity. This level of care and thoughtfulness radiated out to the rest of the suite. It had an intuitive design and while spacious, it was as though the logical spots for things (theirs and ours) had been considered. ||I designed the furnished, medium-term rental apartment I added to my house, and I think I recognized these features maybe a bit more readily. But for any traveler, I think that they would emerge. We recently stayed at a property under a different imprint and while it was larger, the space was, frankly, wasted because it was not well considered. ||Meanwhile, the other stuff. The pool was open (so often, they are not) and was sparkling clean. Fitness-room equipment was in good order. Breakfast was plentiful, and the seating area is airy and lovely. ||We were in the area for the Glimmerglass (Opera) Festival. We had another rental closer to the lake, and it was fine. But when we return next season, without hesitation, we will be booking our stay at...
