Outside unkempt with an empty bottle and cans around the "firepit"||Check-in office stank of garlic/food and shelves and floors covered with random "stuff".|Checked in by a scruffy man, who was actually sitting in the middle of the room, eating food from a plastic container balanced on a chair. No hello, please or thank you.||The photographs show a Mexican restaurant onsite - there is not. The rooms the restaurant may have been in are locked with dark window coverings.||Given a key, drove round to the first room allocated - right at the far end of the building, very dark entryway, under the fire escape. Opened the door to find a pitch black room with the light switch located on another wall (not by the door). Light dim. Room smelt musty and looked grubby.||Back to the office to complain. Given another key to a different room - strangely this key had five different, old key fobs on it, mostly broken(??!!).|Off to the second room - again, pitch black inside with the light switch on another wall - had to leave the door open to find the switch.. Light dim - found two more lights to put on. Still pretty dark. |A very small, dirty window covered by a huge blanket (yes, blanket!) nailed to the wall, this blanket was covered by two sets of curtains - weird. The blanket hung almost to the floor and covered the aircon unit which was stuffed into the wall and held in place with protruding foam strips and duct tape. ||The main door entrance threshold was unfinished and dirty and there was a small hole in the bottom of the door. This door was damaged and dirty.|The smoke alarm was actually chained to the wall and not on the ceiling.||Old baseboard heating system that was falling apart and rusting. Loose wires/cables trailing on the floor. Circular table with broken legs/stand repaired (?) with decorators tape. Ceiling tiles coming away from the walls and ceiling, some held in place with clear sticky tape and some stained. Dirty cobwebs in the corners of the room.. Down the side of the TV (which was reasonably new) the cables were, again, trailing on the floor. The remote control was not clean. |No tea/coffee facilities. No iron/ironing board. ||Bathroom/toilet - so small that the door almost touched the hand basin when open. The door and frame were badly damaged. There had been a door on the toilet area but that was gone. In the toilet area there was, again, baseboard heating that had fallen apart and was rusting. The walls were dirty and marked. The grouting around the bathtub was jagged and unclean. The shower head looked nasty! No hairdryer (although it is shown in the website photos as having them in the bathrooms).||Free internet access is advertised - there was none. I couldn't even get a decent signal on my phone.||Got in my car to see if there were any alternatives in the local area - the only thing I found was a Dog Hotel & Spa - in retrospect I would probably have been better checking in there - lol - it couldn't have been worse.|No option but to stay and make the best of it. Had intended a leisurely morning but was out of there by 06.00 - couldn't stand it any longer.|The key drop at the office (which was locked up when I left) was a broken drainpipe, pushed through a hole in the window and, when the keys were dropped in, they went down this pipe into a plastic bucket propped up with (another!) blanket. The sign says "KEY DORP"||Although this is touted as a "budget option" I paid US$144.00 (GB£115.00 approx) for one night, room only. Don't be fooled by the fresh looking photos online, the two rooms I saw were painted a dark reddy-brown colour and the ceilings grubby grey.||I have tried to get a full refund but it was refused point blank - I have received 50% back but this room was not even worth the $72 I have had to pay. ||I am hoping to upload the 23 photos that show what I have described above. These photos are a true representation of the room I stayed in and have not been photo-shopped in any way - aside from adding text.||I have never stayed in such an awful place in the 20 years I have been visiting the USA. ||Be warned - The Tides Motor Inn at Stehli Beach, Oyster Bay, Long Island should be...
Read moreLet me start off with how RUDE management was to me. My stay was for 7 days, now on goggle when you look at the pictures it’s nothing like the pics. The rooms are just super weird Like the bed comforters They have none they use a duvet as a comforter. Ac doesn’t work well it was hot in the room so they have a cheap plastic fan as a form of backup. When asked if someone could pls clean up the room and add fresh towels while I go about my day, upon returning to my room no one cleaned the room No fresh towels or nothing. The lights in the room shut off and on in the room every 3-4 seconds The maneger Mike was super aggressive and rude to me and my 2 daughters during my stay. My daughters where visiting me for a few hours as we walked to the pool area the manger follows me and my kids to harass us saying my kids couldn’t go in the pool bc they aren’t guests here I’ve never heard of such a ridiculous policy, he proceeds to tell me I have to pay $20 each for my kids to use the pool. Which I did not pay. He proceeded to continue to harass me and now he calls the cops on us for no apparent reason bc we did nothing wrong I kept my cool in front of my children bc I am a woman of god and I wasn’t about to make drama in front of my children. He continues to take to the dispatcher on the phone to cancel the call. At this point I just want to continue my day as planned. It was all uncalled for and I think this man is unhinged. You don’t yell and harass a woman or anyone in that matter. He is VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!! I felt really attacked by him. You don’t treat costumers that way. Not that I ever plan on coming back here ever again. I flew in from Florida where I LIVE! I know policies are all different in this state don’t get me wrong I am from NY I know my rights very well in the state of NY and I don’t appreciate the lack of curtesy this establishment has. Don’t come here unless you plan on just staying here for a booty call bc this is what this place is but there’s nothing like this on...
Read moreThe Tides Motor Inn Stelhi Beach, Bayville, NY - Thursday, June 13, 2024||This Inn is not as advertised. Pulled in and appeared rundown with peeling paint, not just a little bit, but all over the building. There were cars in the lot that were packed with belongings and one that was stuffed full and broken down on the back of the lot. Walked into the office and noticed handwritten signs posted all over the reception windows about the various fees, including a per person/per day fee to use the pool and a notification that extended stay is limited to 28 consecutive days. Fees that are not noted on the website. A poorly written Guest Notification was given to us with instructions on how to access WIFI and the TV remote. Received only one key even though there were two of us. Pulled around to park and noticed a large group of people sitting around in steel folding chairs in front of their unit as well as people yelling in the parking lot. Approached our unit (#50) and the door did not appear sturdy and there was a gap between the door and the frame; something the security chain could not contain if someone forced their way through that door and evidence that the door had been previously pried open. Upon entry, the curtains were broken and held down by a rope. We did not feel comfortable with the security to stay and leave our car overnight. We returned the key to the desk and asked, despite no refund policy, would they reconsider. The desk person said there are no refunds. She then asked her manager and came back with, ‘We can offer you a bigger room’ We declined as that would not address our...
