The Preston Hotel — Hotel in Town of Riverhead

I absolutely loved this hotel and can’t wait to stay again. I stayed in the one bedroom suite and requested the room with the soaking tub, I don’t believe all of the one bedrooms have them. This place is clean, modern, convenient and accommodating. It’s across the street from the Aquarium, so next time I will bring my kids and it will be great because the couch in the living room is a pull out ! I mentioned that they are accommodating because when I asked about early check in and a late check out , they happily allowed both. The staff was very professional. I didn’t eat at the restaurant so I can’t say anything about that. But we did enjoy their complimentary breakfast and it was perfect. They had coffee, tea, juice, yogurt, granola, bagels, croissants, mini muffins, fresh fruit, locally sourced honey in a HONEY COMB!! and a delicious fritata! I also noticed that this hotel had a few touches that showed that they are passionate about being a sustainable stay and I really loved that. I also want to mention that I felt very safe staying here. My husband and I went to a wedding and didn’t return until 3:30am, the first set of automatic doors opened but the second did not until we used our key card to get in. Even though you can’t see the front desk from that door, there was a staff member coming to let us in because we were taking a while to find the key card. That means they saw us through the cameras. That little detail right there made me just like this place even more. I found this place using google maps while looking for a place to stay in the Riverhead area that had a large tub and boom, exactly what I was looking for! The decor is absolutely beautiful at this location. The service was like an abandonment. Three of us arrived to an empty upstairs but somewhat bustling basement and were greeted by a woman who gave us better customer service than the server/manager (if there was one on duty) ever did. She worked for the Peroni beer company. We ordered a charcuterie board and upon delivery it was dropped off without any napkins, sharing plates, or knives to cut the Brie, blue cheese, and Parmesan? - I’m not exactly sure; the board was dropped off without any explanation to what was what. Our waitress had no sense of urgency when other rounds of drinks were ordered. We had to tell the server we were ready to order the entrees without an offer from her part - one of us placed an order for a cold lobster roll. She then came back explaining there wasn’t a cold offering just a hot one, but it may as well had been the cold lobster because by the time my friend received the silverware with the ability to eat it... the thing is the bill was pricey for the abysmal service that was received. Keep in mind the server was well taken care of and I know this because she was bragging about her tip as I was waiting for the men’s room next to the host stand. A manager did not check in on how the food and service was. I understand that a Monday night with a musician might be slower but please understand that you lost a lot of business from potential...
