I wanted to give you all an update on my experience with the MANAGER (Sam) at this hotel - I wrote a review a few weeks about the horrendous conditions of the rooms, and have been working hard to get a refund since I didn't end up staying at the hotel even tho I had paid for it...
I was in contact with a Manager named Sam, who was dishonest on multiple occasions regarding my refund. At first, he said that he couldn't give me a refund because the company that I booked with (booking.com) NEEDED to get in contact with him and give him permission to give me my money back. I happily reached out to Booking.com, and they said that isn't how that works, and that they have never, ever needed to give a hotel permission before. They said that they do not contact hotels/resorts because their services stop once I book.. and that the hotel can easily give me the refund back since they are the ones that received my money. I have used booking.com with EVERY reservation I make, and never once have I had an issue with a refund from a hotel through them. (There was an incident with another resort where they double booked my room accidentally, so the hotel happily and EASILY refunded me! no call to booking.com needed! It's supposed to go through the hotel!)
I called Sam again and told him that they said they do not need to speak with him in order for me to get my refund, and he flipped out on the phone. He said that there isn't anything he can do and that I must stop calling him. I told him that this needs to get sorted out.
He asked for my card number that I paid for the hotel room with (please keep in mind that I gave the hotel my card info when I checked in.. so they DID in fact have my card info) and when I gave him the numbers, he said that wasn't the card I used. Even though it was. Just to make sure, I even gave him my other card's numbers (I ONLY HAVE TWO CARDS) and he said that wasn't it either.. which, again, made no sense. He yelled at me about this, too.
He told me that Booking.com needs to reach out to him and I told him that I'll reach out to them again but if they say the same thing, I am calling him back.
Sam ended up calling me back within 10 minutes since he and I hung up the phone and said that he spoke to Booking.com and he was going to give me my refund. I personally reached out to Booking.com after Sam told me this and asked if they had spoken to Sam, and they said they never spoke to anyone regarding my refund... they didn't even know who Sam was.
Sam told me that he'll issue me my refund personally within 5 days and if I dont receive.. he told me not to call again because theres nothing else he can do. (???)
It has been well over a week and I have yet to receive my refund - he clearly lied to me just to get me to stop calling him.
I need whoever is responding to these reviews to get in contact with me regarding my refund. I will not let this go until I receive it, because no one else should be put in a position like this.
This has been, hands down, the worst experience with a hotel that I have ever had.. and I travel a lot. Sam was rude, dishonest and...
Read moreI visited this Howard Johnson a few days ago during my trip to visit the Catskills, as soon as I showed up I was immediately disappointed as I had booked & payed for 2 adjoining rooms with king sized beds, and was forced to stay in 2 non-adjoining queen size rooms, without any price reduction. Before we even entered our rooms, we immediately began experiencing issues, the keycards barely work on the doors, and we ended up being locked outside of the hotel multiple times, as well as being locked out of our rooms and requiring to get at least three replacement keys. We ended up using the windows to our rooms as doors as this was the only way to guarantee we could get back in. In the three days and two nights we stayed there, room service did not enter the room once. We received a note saying they did not service us due to our do not disturb sign (which was not present) which also states that room service checked the room several times that day before leaving (Which I also highly doubt considering I was only out of the room for about thirty minutes). My cousin used one of the provided towels, and was greeted by a giant centipede, not to mention the literal infestation of spiders (Me and my brother counted a total of 22 just by the door) The vending machines also seem to reject any quarter newer than 2005. To top it all off, my 11 year old brother was opening the bible provided in the hotel, only to find & accidentally touch a dried out, used, condom. We brought the bible to the man at the front desk, and his first response was "Do we check each bible page by page? No." Not a "sorry" not a "How can we make this better?", he just tried to downplay the situation. He told us that he would leave a note for his manager with our phone number and a report of the situation, when we called the next morning the manager said she saw no note left for her. I feel obliged to at least mention that the pool and sauna were nice, I had no issues in that area, and it also had some decent views of the mountains and stars at night, however this in no way makes up for everything else that occurred to us. PLEASE do not stay at this hotel, they do not deserve your money. Unless they make serious commitments to improve the facility, the only thing they deserve is to be shut down by a health inspector. I previously stated that they had refunded my for one night, however since the time I have posted my original review they have decided to take back that refund, leaving our bank account $50 in the red. The owner also apparently decided they would like to reply, and I'd just like to say that I sincerely hope they are reading this update as we will be researching and possibly pursuing...
Read moreHorrible establishment! Spiders in room, refrigerator didn't work. Food that I brought with me and food that I shopped for upon my arrival in Saugerties, ended up spoiling! There is a restaurant on the property that is closed, but when I called to make reservations, I was told it was open. why would anyone have told me that? I believed what they had told me, only to find out the restaurant had been closed for some time. As far as the staff, the was a younger girl that checked me in. Shady looking to say the least. Not someone I would hire to greet guests checking in. The second day, there was an elderly woman at the front desk, who wasn't the friendliest of people.
I awoke each time the heater came on, as it made a loud electrical surging noise. So, between the noise coming from interstate 87, which is approximately 40 yards away on the side of the building I stayed, and the heater making loud noises, , I didn't get much sleep. Poorly insulated, as the room was freezing, even though the heat was running. I returned from a day of skiing at Hunter, and arrived at my room at approximately 3:00pm. Room wasn't made. As the maid's cart finally made its way to my room, it was nearly 4:00pm. At that point, I told the maid to disregard making up my room. It was time to shower and go to dinner! It wasn't the time for the maid to be making up my room!! There were maybe 5 cars during the couple of nights that I stayed there. What did the maids do all day while I was away, when they only had a few rooms to care for. There is no breakfast, the coffee was horrible, the vending machine took 12 quarters and never dispensed any beverages. How could this place stay in business? Is there a License and Inspections Division in the State of NY? Some sort of code enforcement? Well, they are about to find out as I am looking into it. From the exterior, the place looks closed and abandoned. If you're looking to stay here, DON'T!!!!! Look elsewhere. There's a Comfort Inn right down the street on Route 32. Look to stay there instead. I experienced one of the worst stays in my many, many years of staying in hotels all over the Country. I didn't read reviews prior to booking. That was my mistake, as this is something I usually do. Please don't make the same mistake I made. GO...
