The Starway Restaurant - Diner — Restaurant in Town of Saugerties

If I Could give this Resturant less than a One Star I would. A Group of us went in this morning on a Sunday and it was not busy. The waitress was mad rude to us. I would say thank you multiple times and no your welcome. Brought our drinks over and didnt know who had what drinks. Then took our order and left off my friends corn beef hash which whatever he was fine with and she said oh I didnt hear you. Really lady? Then add the fact she never came back to our table to ask how the food was which I had dry eggs, burnt toast and hashbrowns and ate it because what choice did I have since our waitress never came back. Then my friend asks for separate checks at the end and the waitress is rude about and I ask for the manager and then co worker comes over and starts yelling at me for wanting separate checks also. I said I'm a waiter and if there is a large group I ask if the check is one or separate before I print them if no one tells me. It is just good customer service practice. I say forget it and walk up to the register and pay. Then the manager says to my friend the last one paying that when you come in you should ask for separate checks ahead of time. Oh I'm sorry we forgot to and didnt think it was a big deal. I left no tip on the table and if I had it would barely have been 10% which I normally overtip. The waitress probably thinks I'm trash for not tipping but what's even more trashy is 2 waitresses arguing to us about separate checks. Oh by the way the manager is rude to all of us. This was my first time here and I certainly will not be returning here again. If you want to be treated bad by a waitress this is the place for you. The 2 waitresses should have been fired on the spot and if they still work there they should be trained properly with learning people skills. STAY AWAY. This place should not be a 4 star restaurant it's more like a minus 4...

When we went it was pretty busy. Waited 10 minutes for a waitress. When she came we placed our order, which included an appetizer. She returned with our drinks. About 20 minutes later she brought out our food, no appetizer. When I questioned her about the appetizer she admittedly forgot it and ran back into the kitchen. Came right back out and asked if I still wanted it, I didn't. Cook made it anyway. About 3/4 of the way done she said they were done and asked if I'd like them once again. I told her no, that'd be fine. She told me she'd give me a couple, for a taste seeing as is never had them. I took one and she said she'd eat the rest in back, which was fine. Waited was very nice, but I doubt we'll go back. My husband's burger was burnt and the mayo on my blt tasted a little off, I questioned my son and he thought it was okay, but it tasted like a mix of tartar sauce and mayo to me. All I can say is service was decent, but we really expect more when dining out. Next time we'll go to The Village Diner again. The only reason we didn't go for lunch was that my son and I were there for breakfast. We visit Saugerties once a year and this is the second time we had just an ok experience. Last time the food was a little better though. Never went somewhere and didn't enjoy...

We had lunch today at the Starway Diner and found it to be quite middle of the road. I did enjoy a chicken salad club sandwich and my wife had french toast with sausage, which we thought took a bit to long to bring as the diner was quite empty at the time. The host who sat us, did not make eye contact with us and walked us to a table...put the menues down and promptly walked away without a word said. The Server was equally not connected to us with a very business-like approach and not an EXTRA word was spoken. Not friendly.....Not Unfriendly.....Just all business.She did not come around and check our drinks or ask if we needed anything during our meal. She did however show up with the bill at the very end of our meal. Overall, we would have to grade the Starway Diner as....4 stars for food......1 star for staff. We would go there again.....with an adjustment to our expectations of a friendly/attentive staff being available.
